Finally , a good Lovecraft game...about damn time
Finally , a good Lovecraft game...about damn time
>good
no.
keep it up maybe you'll hit 10 IP's this time for your ep*c exclusive garbage
The controls are utter shit so far but the main story is very intriguing.
>DUDE TENTACLES LMAO IM GOING INSANE
>lovecraftian
learn to pirate kid
kek
I was told this game contains racism.
bump
DUDE WAIT WAS THAT GUY AN OCTOPUS WHOA IM CRAZY NOW!??!?!?!
Imagine wasting your time to post this, what a vapid existence
It doesn't hold up to Call of Cthulhu so far because the pacing is a lot slower and the game in general is very janky, so much so that it feels like it's not worth slogging through the sidequests in order to see that lore.
Imagine not having sex.
It's meh.. combat is just fucking 0/10
>It doesn't hold up to Call of Cthulhu
dude WHAT. That is legitimately a terrible, terrible game. Please wake up some day, snap out of it.
Just play bloodborne instead
> made by khokhols
ofc it is
Yea sex is cool, but have you ever hit level 60 with a character in Vanilla Wow?
>sex is cool
No because I was having sex instead. You should log off World of Final whatever and try it.
Lovecraft's works all heavily revolve around the notion of insignificance and helplessness in the face of the vastness of the universe and the beings that inhabit it alongside us. The vast majority of his stories end poorly for those involved, and any victories are purely nominal.
This outlook is directly at odds with the very core of what makes a videogame a videogame, which would be player agency. The player must have control over the actions of the protagonist and outcomes of situations for a videogame to truly be a game, but this means that the narrative cannot truly be "lovecraftian", because his works are characterized by the lack of that very same agency.
stop posting this crap, it's the first single observation anyone who gives Lovecraft a fraction of a thought will notice.
The idea that you can't have powerful characters in this universe is fucking stupid, and EFFECTIVELY proven wrong by decades of CoC the RPG and recent transformations of the Lovecraftian aesthetic. Shut the fuck up you dip.
imagine using all the effort to craft a high quality post like this and wasting it on DUDE TENTACLES instead of a healthy smash thread
Do Redditors really did lovecraft? I thought his views on race would have turned them off.
LC's work views through the lens of an incredibly weak, incredibly scared man who saw change fast approaching and couldn't cope with it. Might be why his work jives with the 4channer crowd but don't get worked up with long rants like this when other mediums try to salvage what was decent.
>Did
*dig
redditors, unlike a lot of people on Yea Forums, are able to criticize people while still engaging their art.
>dude WHAT. That is legitimately a terrible, terrible game. Please wake up some day, snap out of it.
t. Halobab.
oh my god dude, I cannot believe you think CoC is a good game. You really need to pay more attention to the games you play if you did not see a large number of reasons to think that game was total and complete crap.
>good
Going by what gameplay I watched the detective gameplay is shallow, and the game appears repetitive and janky.
Go ahead and shill this to me.
This game does look cool. Shows some ambition, which is nice. Yea Forums should learn to enjoy janky games more, see that the difference between a buggy and broken triple-A game is a lot diff than a buggy indie/AA game.
>new detective guy travels to a city to solve a case
>unfriendly locals
>eventually figure out there's a local cult behind a bunch of shit
>deep sea and alien worship
do these game devs and publishers realize there are more than just those few stories Lovecraft wrote beyond Dagon and Cthulu stuff? like he wrote a whole bunch
and it's not like any of these games do the cosmic horror stuff properly, sinking city had freaks, fish people and monsters within the first 1/4th of the story already what the fuck
i watched someone play a bit of it and i would only touch it if they got rid of the combat. it looks fucking terrible

I mean the best case scenario in these kind of games whether video games or table top (CoC still exists you know) is the investigator/PC kinda figures out the mundane surface level truth and fucks off before everything goes to shit, so it's possible
>Do Redditors really did lovecraft? I thought his views on race would have turned them off.
redditors don't pay attention or do research so they don't know what Lovecrafts views on niggers were
not until recently that is, and not before Cthulu lore became popular unfortunately
this is the pre-packaged opinion, and this poster is not smart.
The game seems great but the sheer amount of bugs kills it.
Give it 6 months for a definitive edition at 50% off and it's a guaranteed buy.
>not until recently that is, and not before Cthulu lore became popular unfortunately
Cthulhu has been popular for longer than reddit has been around. His racism has always been known and has been popular knowledge too.
>His racism has always been known and has been popular knowledge too.
among literature and english majors maybe
I'm talking about fantasy, tabletop and video game millennial demographic and zoomers that were born after 00'
This game is getting so much shit, but it's the exact type of AA game we rarely see these days. It's pretty fun.
Atmosphere is really cool but the game-loop gets stale real fast.
>go talk to someone
>go to the address they told you
>fight a few monsters
>read some letters
>repeat
>This game is getting so much shit, but it's the exact type of AA game we rarely see these days. It's pretty fun.
its because its a single player game
who the fuck wants to play those anymore
Yes, we are truly blessed by this rare occasion and people should be happy for it.
redditors never even read call of cthulhu
they pretend to like it because Will Weaton has a Cthulhu plushie
gets even more retarded
>do me favor detective man
>go seek out man mr detective
>man wants detective to do him a favor too
>engage in shit combat occasionally in tiny building mr detective man
>okay mr detective kill KKK members fuck nazis
>Yea Forums - Video Games
>dude do stuff other than video games for entertainment instead lmao
the autistic hand gestures are hilarious because even the npcs do it.
>im pol
ok, quiet down
nah i feel like the KKK were shoehorned in which is ironic because lovecraft was a racist
He wasn't racist, he was based.
>he unironically has sex
Hahaha
>im pol
ok, quiet down .
>okay mr detective kill KKK members fuck nazis
has anybody tried to not fuck over the order? because it did feel shoehorned but at the end it comes down to whether killing them or not has benefit for you
>Profiteering cunts taking a steaming shit on the original vision of the universe almost a hundred years after its original author's death proves user's assessment wrong
So not even this game is decent?
God dammit, when will a good lovecraft game came out.
Sure CoC game before it was decent, but at most worth 5-10 bucks.
The most amazing this about this game is that people were expected a cinematic action game when it's literally made by the guys that made the Homes games and always was meant to be a more paranormal Holmes reskin.
i never played the CoC game before this but do you think this game would be better or worse if they got rid of the fucking awful combat?
What was his cat's name again?
I'm not sure what's worse, vapid bait or ironically eating vapid bait.
It would be better.
This is how art and aesthetics develop you fucking moron. It's not JUST profiteering, it is appropriation and creative synthesis. FUCK OFF and get educated.
As I have said, I moved in on July 16, 1923. My household consisted of seven servants and nine cats, of which latter species I am particularly fond. My eldest cat, “Nigger-Man”, was seven years old and had come with me from my home in Bolton, Massachusetts; the others I had accumulated whilst living with Capt. Norrys’ family during the restoration of the priory.
>people were expected a cinematic action game
I don't think this is true at all. This game has always, always been advertised as a detective game. People were surprised there were third-person shooting in it.
literally everyone knew that shit back in the 90s already when I was DnDing.
>what is Bloodborne
It's name was Based Black Man
zoom zoom
Another open world shit
The best lovecraftian game is a non lovecraftian game called Eternal Darkness.
lol only if you think Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened was open world too.
You misspelled Dead Space.
>The Lurking Horror
>The Hound of Shadow
>Shadow of the Comet
>Scratches
>Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth
>Darkness Within 1&2
>Anchorhead
>Bloodborne
>Eternal Darkness
>Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened
>X-Com: Terror from the Deep
>Quake
>Alone in the Dark
>Sunless Sea
>Darkest Dungeon
>Cultist Simulator
>The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
>The Last Door 1&2
Yeah. Finally.
Based. let's add another to that list. hope this game ends up being cool.
You sound like someone who would enjoy the new Star Wars movies aka the worst possible kind of human being.
