Soulless vs soul

Playing 3D accelerated games without texture filtering is pure zoomer shit. I don't know where the idea that visible pixels = good came from but it's honestly retarded.

visible pixels work better with the high resolution monitors. The smudged shit that is Bilinear looked better on 15 inch CRT monitors at 480p back in the day.

(You)'re the zoomer here.
The ancient bilinear filtering absolutely demolishes detail, and makes things look not only blurry, but also washed out.

please don't use filters, thnx.

TV RGB filter is great

Unfiltered looks better here

Filtered looks better here

Fight me.

Doesn't opengl half life force the texture filtering? I wonder if xash3d at least lets you disable it.

Do people play classic games on an inceLED?!
Mega Yikes

Xash runs though direct3D so yeah you can disable it.

So THAT is why every modern game is coated in vaseline and blur ... you fags LIKE playing shit that looks like things are viewed thru' your mom's old glasses.

you can disable it in stock HL1 as well.

gl_texturemode GL_NEAREST_MIPMAP_LINEAR

or

GL_texturemode GL_Nearest

How do you do it in xash? Putting an autoexec with GL_texturemode GL_Nearest gl_round_down 0 etc... doesn't seem to do anything

Those gif artifacts sure give the best impression

gl_texture_nearest 1

Fuck, that didn't work.
This goes in the autoexec or somewhere else? Would be nice if the fucking ruskies behind this engine would actually have some fucking documentation on how to configure it.

I put it into the config and binding it to the N key
bind n "gl_texture_nearest 1"

Are you putting it into the right file?
Otherwise try to type it into the console.

I found an option for it already written into the config.cfg file so I changed the value to 1 and that did it, no idea why I assumed it would need an autoexec. There's also a gl_lightmaps_nearest which I've toggled on although I haven't noticed much difference.
