this was my experience. I had enough broken combat talents to permanently stunlock any enemy like this, even the last boss and he was stuck at 1% health on stunlock. I stopped the rape for a bit, a cutscene comes and he's back to 50%. brilliant game.

You don't really play TW3 for the combat.
If you do, turn the difficulty up to death march, strip yourself of armour and switch the roll key with the little dash key and go to town with bombs, crossbow, signs and perks.

Yeah, the story isn't even particularly great, merely above average by vidya standards. And it suffers from the same problems as most open world games, with a meandering plot that gets off in the weeds way too often and for too long

Dark Messiah only has good combat when the level design allows you to be creative, otherwise it's pretty mediocre. This fact isn't helped by how half of the skills and builds are either useless or feel half-baked. Not a bad game but grossly overrated just because of webms showing what you can do once you memorize the level layout and practice something very specific a million times.
