There's good and bad about it, since on one hand, you have people not limited to a certain rules on how to design a setting and characters which in theory is absolutely positive because there's always gonna be more shit than diamonds anyways so branching out doesn't change that.

It is no different than how ancient wizards back in the day insulted old FE over and over nitpicking their faults and comparing it to D&D and shit. The complaints can be understandable but at the same time don't really factor in the big picture. Ultimately a game is made on a limited budget with limited time with limited manpower. In anything in life, let alone vidya games, it is very hard to create something that keeps the good of the old and removes the bad while mixing in with the good of the new because it's not as simple as tetris building blocks.

One thing extremely obvious to say the FE line is the inability to ever make it more adult, because it's aimed for a larger demographic. As a result there's never a reason to create truly clever characters, because if you do it's jarring.

In Tellius, once you get high enough strength, weapon weight literally doesn't matter. It only exists to make mages shittier than they already are.
