Was it just a fad?

Was it just a fad?

I can't speak for everyone, but I just got bored of it and I couldn't keep up with all the character reworks

I never like when metas develop I'll play a healer to maintain good team comp then get ridiculed for picking a "bad" healer

Lack of new content
Fixing things that didn't need to be fixed
Carousel balancing
Not addressing problems that were there since day 1
Recycled content
Lore is boring and going nowhere

Too many playable characters

I play it, got it earlier this year to play with friends and honestly it's a fun concept but suffers some serious issues with the community and ranked system.

>smurfs everywhere, most people who play often have multiple accounts even if their "main" is only plat
>people who can only play one hero poorly and refuse to touch anything else and smurfs practicing and therefor not wanting to switch
>children and teenagers unable to not bot out
The balancing is a mess in general but that really doesn't matter much when everyone is so incompetent.

Still playing and having fun.
>Would like to play lucio ball more than 2x a year.

>still get QP games where 4 people want to dps. Not a problem of the other team is memeing too. Sucks if you aare agains 2 2 2 and they have 6 brain cells.

>I join 18+ parties to avoid 12 year olds.

>I dont mind having some heros get buffed and others get needed. Makes them interresting. And less stale.

>id like more physics centered heros like WB than mash ups of diffrent abilities like Batist.

>Carousel balancing
dont you mean "balancing only heroes popular with streamers and girl gamers"?

Was better before it got taken so seriously. I still play but mostly around events if a skin looks neat. People have got it down to a formula so much that it's not quite as good as when it first came out.

All games are

>dont you mean "balancing only heroes popular with streamers and girl gamers"?
No and that's not what happened plenty of popular got stuck being unused in competitive. Not everything is about "muh strimmers" and "muh women". The game shifted around a lot between characters being completely worthless to being OP. They are just terrible at balancing the game. The high rank and e-sports scene was stuck in the dive meta for well over a year at one point which was just teams of 3 tanks and healers bum rushing.

Even now Brigitte has been just retarded since launch and her mere constant presence invalidates characters like Tracer and Genji who just completely deletes and makes them pretty much unplayable if she is on the other team.

went from most shilled game of 2016 to pros, streamers, content creators and regular players dropping them one after the other

the amount of videos made by people basically saying theyre tired of OW is astounding

It was a good game while it lasted. I was actually a fan of the game but they took forever to implement heroes, sometimes the only updates we would get after a long time would be holiday skins or some shitty new map. Eventually all the normies lost interest and moved on to pubg, seige, and fortnite.

>Even now Brigitte has been just retarded since launch and her mere constant presence invalidates characters like Tracer and Genji who just completely deletes and makes them pretty much unplayable if she is on the other team.
She's pretty weak right now, you basically have to walk into her as genji or tracer and even then her mega combo is gone so she shouldn't solo you. Meanwhile zen is a dps machine that also heals with one of the best ults in the game but no one bitches about him.

It's dumb as fuck this new skin of his is $15
Someone will actually defend this practice.

>I couldn't keep up with all the character reworks
Is it too hard for you learning something new every 3-4 months?

Ask yourself this:
Is it "an iconic game" that will be talked about 10-20 years in the future?
Is it a game that can stand the test of time, and is able to be enjoyed even offline?
No?
it's a shitty fad

>he didn't just leave a tab open
Rookie move.

Also to drive my point home, zen against a discorded enemy does 150 dps with no falloff while soldier does 180 pointblank mag dumping. Considering fall off and having to burst with soldier zen easily does more damage than a character who's entire job is to kill shit all while having a healing kit and who's only downside is no movement ability.

It was FOTM until PUBG took its place. The casual scene is definitely on the lower side, but the competitive scene is doing pretty well.

I'm still playing it so... no? I mean I always find people to play with and queue times are low.

Be honest user, are you just mad you can't say nigger?

>even if their "main" is only plat
These guys bought the game again because they are certain they are not trash at the game and it's just the placement system that fucked them over in elo-hell.

It took TF2, removed all the really fun mechanica and replaced them with typical corporate-approved focus-tested shooter experience and slapped some waifubait on top.
Then it stopped providing fresh fap material.
It's awful.

I only play for my bro and he just got a dope skin.

They built an entire game around tf2's 6v6 mode that maybe 5% of the fans played. Then they added shitty moba ultimates and designed for the hard core fans while casuallizing the everliving FUCK of everything.

It was a disaster

It wasn't made to last. Consume and move on to consume the next thing.

its the 'diversity shooter', the people I know who like and defend it like it cause it has women/non white characters in it without even realizing none of the characters have a fucking thing to do with the game itself. Blizzard is just throwing a dart at a world map to see where their next donutsteele comes from, the playerbase beta tests the new character, then the game is completely different in a month or so because the new character broke the meta.

It baffles me that people are still comparing it to TF2 four years later. Probably no greater proof that your average Yea Forums user (and gamer, for that matter) is a fucking mouthbreathing retard.

>It took TF2, removed all the really fun mechanica and replaced them with typical corporate-approved focus-tested shooter experience and slapped some waifubait on top.
OW only has a few characters that shoot or aim though, it's more of a first person moba.

yes.
boring, sterile shit. an FPS for MOBA players, which leaves neither moba nor fps people happy, and it actually costs money, unlike the games its imitating, TF2 and LoL, which will never fucking die

I still play
Fix reins shatter and charge holy fuck blizz

He needs some fucking lore
It hurts

competitive mode was a mistake.

everyone I knew who played OW quit sometime between the end of S1 and the middle of S2.

Yeah, I'm tired of clearly pinning someone only for them to be blooped away by my charge instead.

Role q would actually fix comp but the current community refuses to accept it because it would mean all their alts no longer have a purpose. I say ban all accounts that have overwhelming numbers for only one or two heroes as well to purge the cancer.

It's a shame that Overwatch took the path of trying to be a 'casual competitive' game instead of just trying to be fun. The fact that Quick Play plays, practically speaking, EXACTLY the same as Ranked makes me annoyed. There's no way to just pick this game up and put it down like you can with say, TF2 or more recently, Mordhau. It's only fun if you're winning. If you're losing the game is the opposite of fun. It's unbearable. Quick play should be casual, fun 10 v 10 (or even more) and be able to have multiple of one hero on one team. The fact that QP is just ranked lite makes this game unplayable casually. Arcade mode is a thing, yes, but that's ONLY meme play and is still 6v6 annoying gameplay. It's sad that they pander to the e-sports crowd so much that the game becomes un-fun. The day they made it to where you can't have more than 1 of each hero on FUCKING QUICK PLAY is the day I saw this game going down the shitter. And down the shitter it went.

Not him, but Is it too hard to design a character? I mean they were reworking shit within the year. Game is absolute trash and it's fanbase is full of fags and trannies. The forums most discussed post was some gay ass LGBTQ thread. It's very obvious why this game sank.

My biggest problem is that this game cannot be played casually. There is no 'pick it up and drop it'. Like there is in TF2. In tf2 you can just join the queue, or join a private server, jump into a 12 v 12 where no one cares and the little who do are shat on for being retards, and jump out whenever you want. The casual setting plays the same as ranked. In tf2 you join a hectic 12v12 and fuck around. In OW you join a 6v6 where you can only play one of each champ because CASUAL MODE has to be the same as ranked. As a result it fosters an environment of tryhards in casual getting pissed off at randoms they've never played with and will never play with again. The game makes no effort to be casual, dick around fun.

What? Every character in the game needs to aim except for Moira. MAX COPE

>The forums most discussed post was some gay ass LGBTQ thread.
i think you were looking at the Yea Forums catalog

What game is this?

My most played heroes are Rein, Orisa, DVA, Pharah, Soldier, Brig, and Zen
Rein and brig don't aim, you do fat spins, DVA is only largely effective at doing damage at no aim ranges, Pharah requires aim but most players have such shit movement it only takes 5 minutes, Soldier is basic tracking and burst, Zen is the only one on that list that requires aim and he is support.

I could just go through all the heroes though, most don't require fuck all for aim, even Hanzo who is supposed to be a sniper barely needs aim.

>which was just teams of 3 tanks and healers bum rushing
That's the state of the game now. On most maps the teams are Rein, Zarya, dva, Zen, Lucio, Brigitte. And ALL teams run this meta on about 80% of the maps. It's fucking boring and it's been like this for quite some time. It's because Blizz has to CONSTANTLY be working on a new hero instead of balancing their roster.

It was literally only for porn and waifus.

Overtranny.
The game where you play as fags and homos.

Never heard of it? Is this the game that Blizzard made before Fortnite beat the shit out of it?

>OW lore
I gave up on that
The game game has a lore, but the game isn't part of the lore
Some events are partly in lore, but not all parts of them are part of the lore
Comics are part of the lore except when they aren't
Rewrites happen all the time as well

I just want them to release a map editor already

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 16K)

Does Trannywatch ring a bell?

it was a container for characters people liked
they failed to develop on those characters and smeared shit all over the walls of the container, basically
the game is so bad at this point people who waifu the characters dont even want to play it, and these are the same kinds of people who will pump thousands upon thousands into korean gachashit for a picture of an anime girl in a spring dress

>Melee characters
>Aim
they don't do damage from (very) far away and you still need to aim their abilities
Dva i can't agree because people can run literal circles around you and you won't be able to hit them if you can't aim

It's true, honestly the biggest problems stem from the fact that it's 6v6, if you were to double that and make it 12v12 there would be a lore more fun and variety on the map and it would be a lot more hectic. They should try it out for an arcade mode or something.

Especially when you get Genji, Hanzo and Widow on your team from the get go, that's 50% of your team that's essentially useless and you can't play around it unless the other team is as retarded as your team is and does the same.

But if there was a 12v12 mode, they would only take up 25% of the team, and it would be a lot more interesting and fun and a lot more hectic.

>they don't do damage from (very) far away and you still need to aim their abilities
Firestrike is pretty easy to learn and has a fucking giant hitbox, it's less aim and more so just knowing what general areas to throw it in, brig has her whipshot but that's not a hard to learn skill shot either.

>Dva i can't agree because people can run literal circles around you and you won't be able to hit them if you can't aim
That's not aim related that's just scrub shit like bastions who let you run around them. It shouldn't be happening.

>They should try it out for an arcade mode or something.
But this is my point. It shouldn't be an arcade mode. This should be the default Quick Play casual mode. If you throw it into an arcade mode, you get ONLY people that are gonna meme around and the playerbase will be reduced to almost nothing. This should be the quickplay casual fun mode. If you want 6v6, character restriction mode, go to ranked and have your fun there.

This
Blizzard wants to be progressive and not make their characters sexy skins, a thing that players want
And the gameplay is just frustrating these days, so what is there?
Mediocre game with interesting characters that aren't used well

Maps aren't designed for that and the game already suffers from the fact that you are at the mercy of your team no matter how hard you carry, decreasing your individual impact would only make it more cancer.

>Especially when you get Genji, Hanzo and Widow on your team from the get go, that's 50% of your team that's essentially useless
Actually plenty of comps can run that just fine, hell it at least has synergy unlike a sym/s76/pharah(mercyless) group.

>lore

for what? so he can turn out to be a faggot like everyone else. Fuck blizzard's gay lore at this point desu.

More that it was incompetently managed. "Balancing" was just constantly going from one extreme to another and they couldn't make balanced new characters so 80% of new characters were supports or tank, and even those they fucked up

Overwatch is proof you can't just throw money at stuff and expect to replicate stuff like Dota building up from a WC3 mod into two of the biggest games/esports of all time over fucking years, or TF2 going through 9 years of tweaking and playtesting and building and rebuilding, or Counter-Strike's grassroots growth from HL mod to a multiplayer mainstay coming up on its 20th anniversary.

What happened to the workshop they announced? And whats this about about an overwatch 2 or something

>What happened to the workshop they announced?
It's out.

>And whats this about about an overwatch 2 or something
No real info.

I mean it’s still doing fine. It’s like Starcraft 2.

workshop has been available for while now. OW2/single player game was and is still just an rumor, nothing official yet

> skill shot
> no aim
You need to aim firestrike bro.

No idea why chu won't give more information about him
instead he is going to make genji/mercy canon

Attached: chu and his wife.jpg (1609x1609, 498K)

>Mercy given new ultimate and 1 new ability
.Symmetra totally altered twice
>torb given a new ult and has 1 ability replaced
>dva gets a new ability
>Hanzo gets 1 ability replaced and 1 new ability
These are the only major reworks in 3 years

Not really bro 9 times out of 10 you're just throwing it where you know you'll get the most damage done or at stationary targets. The finish off picks require aiming but you should be using it enough that you have the aiming of it down fairly quickly. If the skill requirement for aiming something is braindead then it doesn't really count.

I've been in multiple situations where I've needed to firestrike moving targets in the sky- pharah is one of my most common firstrike targets.
