Have you seriously engaged with Woolly World? It is a high quality game. Not quite on the level of Tropical Dong, but loads more creative than the NSMB-fare.
And if you're a big YI-fag, Kirby's Epic Yarn is actually a pretty solid application of exploration-based level design. Weirdly enough, I thought KEY played more like a Yoshi game than a Kirby game, what with the whip attack, ground pound and vehicle transformations.

Tomita left Good-Feel in 2017, they had some new composer for Crafted World that did a terrible job. There are like 20 total tracks and almost all of them are just remixes of the main theme. Woolly World was absolutely the better game but the music is just incomparable. I think WW had around 60 unique tracks.
