Don't feel bad, plenty of people have a lot of trouble with him, he's top-tier. Wolf is fucking ridiculous with how borderline broken he is imo. It doesn't help that from what I've heard, he's actually pretty brain dead to play. I need to pick him up to confirm.

They're fun to fight if you know how. Edgeguarding them with Palutena is free, and I love baiting them to do stupid stuff then punishing them.

Plus a ton of people play Chrom, and since I play him often I know the matchup well.

I hate so much of this game's cast so fucking much. I understand I'm playing the Sm4sh character with 20 weaknesses in a game where most characters have like 2, but that doesn't mean I won't stop hating projectile spam characters like Link, Samus or Snake, or characters who feel like they take one button to play like Chrom or Yoshi. I'm forced to like characters who combo me like the space animals or Diddy because at least they have to put effort into it somehow.

Attached: 1552332668200.png (478x130, 54K)

No, the massive amount of input latency and the fact it plays like smash 4 has put me off of ever touching it a long time ago. It's just not very fun and I don't see it as a good way to spend my time.

You're justified in hating projectile spam as Ridley. He doesn't have much mobility to effectively deal with it.

Also master parrying. Parry down smash or fsmash with Ridley is busted.

>master parrying
>in terrible ass P2P online

If I ever meet someone in person who plays this shit I can do it, but not online.

Is Palu really that brain dead?

Yeah, dealing with projectile spam as Ridley is suffering. It's like they gave him all the weaknesses of being a big body while half-assing the benefits.

I NEVER LEARNED HOW TO REEEEEEEAAAAAD! and arrow shenanigans

Not in a tournament setting, but online and just casually she is.

Her main gameplan revolves around baiting people to throw out unsafe options, and punishing with nair.

She has really safe and easy combo options, and great kill moves. Oh yeah, her back throw is a kill throw too.

Explosive flame can combo into itself and ledge trap.

I could go on, but yeah she's one of the easiest characters to learn casually.

Honestly have never had a single problem with the online. I live in Quebec so it's very middle class up here, so I'm assuming that it really depends on where you live. Bell just went up to 500mbps for the same price and I am tripping balls at the absolute speed at which I download 15gb games now

>Her main gameplan revolves around baiting people to throw out unsafe options, and punishing with nair

Way to describe 90% of the roster

Attached: 1536711315235.gif (250x250, 282K)

Good point, but in palu's case her nair builds a nutty amount of percent and can also kill.

MetaKnight is fun

Bruh I've been playing her for a while and even I don't know

Her side b was designed by Todd Howard

Smash it to go farther

The quality of online has very little to do with download speeds. What matters is ping, which is heavily affected by the distance between you and the other player, and in a P2P setting having a 1gbps connection won't mean shit if the goon you're fighting against is playing on Mcdonalds wifi with jitter out the ass.

>Anything that doesn't fit in the aforementioned criteria is rarely fun, and varying degrees of bad. Among upclose characters, despite having a few zoning & conditioning tools, i'll say Zelda is the worst " Brawler " to fight. Getting outplayed by Zelda is not even really satisfying because the character is very raw ever since Melee where all she did was throw kicks. Since Ultimate, she's gotten niche tools and a way to punish overcommitments that's really annoying online. She's just not that fun
>Probably Cloud, although i've gotten a lot better and I might say that's moreso pressure nowadays more than anything since I was able to beat a PR'd Cloud lately. Cross Slash is an absurd whiff punish tool with little commitment at all which can easily get to mer if i'm only starting to play again or if i'm getting frustrated at it. At least and as I said before, it made me learn the " hard way " that capitalising off of Cloud's bad ways of playing around shield is the best way to fight him: He pretty much just has Back Air shield pressure as a safe poke that you can alternate to catch the opponent's Jump Out of Shield. Mix those options up and Cloud can get quite annoyed

I picked up Zelda in this game and she's pretty fun. Although every one of them I fight only teleports or spams specials without doing setups or anything.

Be. Patient.

Never go full rushdown against him. Bait him out and find chinks in the armor. Parry a crown and open him up. Wait for him to do something dumb. If you are getting hit by down smash it means you got called out for being too aggro.

I've been fucking around with Chrom though. Actually interesting character to use as far as swordies.

Am I the only one that feels like projectiles are too fucking strong in Ultimate though? I feel like they're either incredibly strong or they have set knockback that puts you into a """combo""" each time. And they come out so fast. YLink can probably spam an arrow every second or less.

She's pretty fun. She hits harder than most think when Deep Breathing is active. Although, most of the WFT's I fight just spam balls and suns.

I meant 4.8 million, obviously

How many fucking times do people have to keep repeating to you spastics that the reason momentum was nerfed is cause it made rushdown characters too oppressive and because Sonic is in the game.
>PM
That overrated mod does a lot of balancing errors that shows it was made by amateurs. Everyone had been turned into a rushdown type character. Even the heavies and zoners. Defensive play is a no-go in PM, everyone had to have fast aerials to stand chance, and they do. Meanwhile, official Smash, Sakurai and Co recognized this problem, and found better ways of addressing it.

You people forget that Sakurai is an avid gamer, AND fighting game fan. Dude played KoF in its prime, competitively for that era, and has played dozens of fighting games. Meanwhile, most of you couch developers only play Smash (in some cases just Melee), and assume to know better than an experienced developer with a proven record. This is no better showcased than this fucking turd, made by the guys who led PM. This is what happens when you let your ego get to your head, and you only have competitive Melee as your point of reference.

Just imagine Sonic with momentum lmao

Jump against K. Rool. Literally beats out like 90% of his options.

Never played any of them but he has a mouse in his pocket, so him.

Maining WFT is super fun

Being an uncommon character, doing wacky ball tech shenanigans and watching your opponent visibly have a "what the fuck was that?" moment is something special.

Just sucks that online WFTs have a rep for just spamming basic headers at the edge all game.

Sonic with Melee jump momentum, and a better moveset (like Boost and Bounce Bracelet), would break the game harder than MK. His hit and run would be way too oppressive. Smash is a game that relies heavily on mobility, so characters who can easily run away and avoid damage are a problem. It’s a problem 3D Arena fighters always struggle with and why they’re generally not competitive. The more mobility options you give players, the easier it is to run away, and avoid fighting till the timer runs out to win the fight. It’s why Flying is heavily restricted in Smash, and why Glide was removed.

Why use Pikachu when Pichu is basically better? Things may have changed since his nerfs though.

He's top tier yeah, but he suffers from the competition with Pichu, who i'd argue is also the easier character, from more kill options. I've always seen more Pichus than Pikachu. That being said, i'd probably move Pikachu to uncommon nowadays, he's not quite on par with the rest of the tier at all

Rosa was never common to encounter, even at the peak of her reign in 4.

I dunno. Luigi. I play the whole roster as best I can. I mained Bowser JR. for MONTHS just to get a grip with a trickier character.

Wario, Duck Hunt, DK

That I actually worked for? Bowser Jr. (Roy). Somewhere around 4,500,000
>Chaddest character to play against.
A talented Wario
>Cheapest character
Ganondorf, Samus, Zelda in 4P Smash. Nice recipe for an irritating match.

Kirby. Not because they're particularly tough to deal with, but they are fucking annoying as shit time after time.

Fish dude

Momentum would be fine. All Ultimate does to compensate is speed up attacks and end lag up to make the game feel faster.

And "zoning" in Ultimate is a fucking joke, so don't even start there.

Depends on the character I use but it's usually Falcon

K. Rool. I'm never ready for the succ

Zoner Belmont

But the heavies get fucked even harder

Toon link main here.
I am wondering what you guys think of fighting against toon link is he as cheap as the other 2 links?
Personally i enjoy playing him but i cant really imagine how its like playing against one.

>And "zoning" in Ultimate is a fucking joke, so don't even start there.
It’s significantly better than in any other Smash game. Especially with characters like Zelda, MegaMan, Villager, Ness, Snake, the Belmonts, etc...

Wifi play literally does not matter. Zoning offline is not nearly as strong, take a look at how many zoners are top tier.

Who gives a shit dude. Play whoever you like. The scrubs who complain about projectile characters are the same people ho avidly watch Melee on Twitch, and bitch about momentum being nerfed. Their brains can only grasp aggressive, simple, rushdown. People who are actually good at the game know how to deal with those sorts of characters.

He's my favorite Link and I've never had real issues with projectile characters. Just don't stand on the ledge and play like a faggot.

I play locals at Ikebukuro every weekend, and can handle Fox mains as Zelda fairly well. Literally her worst fucking matchup cause of his reflector combined with his aggression.

Zoning is plenty powerful if you don’t suck.

>WoL is a glorified Events match
>No real single player mode
>no break the targets
>no break the crates
>no smash run
>no equivalent of subspace emissary
>home run contest
>online is broken every single time i try even thou im connected through ethernet, it doesnt really matter because this shit is P2P so other players are probably connected to 2,4Ghz networks with high traffic and high ping bringing your experience down

some people enjoy just playing stock against cpus, i don't, there's not enough replay value
im happy they added banjo and hopefully they add new modes later through updates

>muh tiers
Game’s barely a year old you filthy tier whore. Shut the fuck up, and sit down. How do you expect a game to be figured out that fast with a roster of over 80 characters? Dumbass.

I think its Meta Knight right now

I love playing against Ridley. They're usually cool.

Links, Samus' and Snake. Ness because he's predictable and boring.

at 4.9 something

I still get fucked by Tough Guy

I personally don't really have fun fighting the character: A lot of bomb pressure & reading Out of Shield options for the TL player to get anywhere, but he doesn't have that much else: Easily the worst aerials of the 3 Links that still do serve a purpose along with his kit but he's not playing neutral too much with them, same for his tilts although they're pretty alright.
Play who you want though, it's not like I meet Toon Link every day, hell I've hardly played against the character, and even if I did, me not appreciating your main doesnt mean you should stop playing him if you find him to be the most fun. I'm a Doc main but can play characters like Duck Hunt on a whim because conditioning opponents with Duck Hunt's traps can be fun to me, and I don't really give too much of a shit whether my opponent likes it or not, unless it's a friend, but I don't have any.

It's better in that you can throw out projectiles with little consequence and set up combos easily.

Ahhh, so you’re one of THOSE guys. I shoulda known.

Thx anons for your input.

No idea, stopped playing quickplay. I was just slightly below the Elite threshold last I checked.

Captain Falcon. A good one is always fun to fight.
>Cheapest character to play against
Ness. You can beat them, but it's never fun.
>Your personal cryptonite
Inkling. I have no idea how to fight this character.
also, *kryptonite

They're definitely all-arounders but that doesn't make them bad. They're still fun to play, and they're honest characters.
