Just finished Xenoblade Chronicles 2. So let's have a Xenoblade thread.

Just save the jpg and shut up.
Did you play it with the dubs or subs?
dubs
she is wrecking bosses so hard when you fully unlock her and got with the right combo
I finished the game controlling Morag + Corvin, equip a heal on crit item and I literally couldn't die.
What a madlad
the hard part is the superbosses, finishing the game is normal
if you want it get even harder u can change difficulty, can even customize it
That's good to know. I'm going to start Torna now and come back and do all the stuff I left out on the Xeno 2.
>200+ hours
>Still no KOS-MOS
some new blades torna characters can only be acquired through ng+
Did you all played this on subs or dubs on your first play through?
i tried dubs for a while before switching to dubs
honestly wouldn't mind go for a full dubs if not just for nia's voice
Quite the opposite for me. Dub Nia ain't stellar but she sounds ok for the most part.
Rex on the other hand.. I have no idea who thought casting a VA that couldn't scream to save his life as a shounen protagonist was a good idea.
meant to say tried dubs before switching to subs
i think i fucked up that sentence
we are in agreement, i like nia's dub voice so i would go dub just for her and some other, rex is really meh and pyra/mythra sound like no energy
I had to go dubbed because I didn't have internet to download the dual audio patch for a while. It was nowhere near as terrible as people make out. The main protagonists having the weakest performances and the overall voice direction being unimpressive definitely hurts it (especially compared to the first game which was the total opposite on those fronts), but it's not even close to being bad overall.
Also went dubbed with Torna for consistency and it was much stronger.
I never got around to playing Torna with the dubs on. Will give that a shot.
Yeah, comparing to xc1 the dubs isn't as strong, but it is no way near shit level like some of the games that got dubbed
How do we fix Shield Hammers, lads?
>300+
I feel you, user. But you're gonna make it.
We're all gonna make it someday.
Excellent taste.
Zenobia sucks
>snaggletooth
>tryhard personality, muh strength
>annoying voice
>shit questline where she gets shoehorned into the blade war, doesnt appear in torna dlc anyway
>look at the top of her head
Alright lad, who is your blade waifu then?
Why, it's Floren, of course
gay
Just hol' up
Shield hammers sucked because the natural user of them was locked to fixed blades only. That said, Kassandra and Poppibuster were decent while Shulk is the best tank blade in the game, it just turned out that a lot of the hammer blades were also bad on top of hammers not being good.
>literally zero presence from any of the main game gachablades
that, the lack of Temperantia, and the compression of the entire storyline are what make me really sad about Torna. It was a 10/10 DLC but it could have been a full game asset flip that came out a year later and been the best Xenogame ever made.
Torna is much less bad dubbed than the main game, mainly because no Rex and Mythra's VA seemed to have better direction. JP voices are still better.
Just compare the Mythra sleepwalking scene in the main game to the same scene in Torna and you can hear the improvement.
>tfw got KOS-MOS from a common core when i was just trying to get a giant megalance wielder for the Poppibuster quest
feels great not being a lucklet.
thinking of buying the dlc and playing it then replaying the main game right after again.
Not a bad idea, the DLC adds some nice context to scenes in the main game.
I started with the dub because I wanted to hear the party banter, and figured I'd swap when I felt it was negatively affecting my enjoyment of the story, but that never really happened. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected (though after the first game it's still unacceptably low quality), and when I did my NG+ sub playthrough I found I liked the dub voices for a decent amount of characters (Malos, Poppi, Morag being the standouts) a good deal more.
Still wish it had better direction, though.
>literally zero presence from any of the main game gachablades
That's a good thing. The DLC needed to focus on its own characters and didn't even do an amazing job of that, there was no need to muddle things up with a bunch of literally-whos.
Not in the main story but they should have used them in side quests. Even just replacing the common blades that appear in the game would have been nice.
>wanna grind enough cores to get good blades
>all the best bosses are too hard with out good blades
Why am I stuck in this endless loop?
You can easily farm cores on Relentless Arduran
While I respect your pick of Zenobia, I’ll also let you know this board is very much Nia country.
Even though the superbosses are high level, they aren't all that hard. Try fighting them anyways.
Nia is great too.
>2019
>still can't use Malos as a Blade
someone kill me, I want out of this timeline
i heard she has pheromones that drive men crazy, it's just that rex smells too strongly of oil and salvage shit all the time
Just wait for XCX2 when he becomes the main protag
LET ME SHOW *YOU* SOMETHING
yeah but xb2 was our one chance for friendly bantz with pyra/mythra
Nah, we'll also get a spin-off game set in the artificial reality that the trinity processor AIs were raised in.
Post Blades in different clothes.
blades look cuter when they wear nothing
I meant in side quests and shit, not as part of your party. All of the blades were roboblades and part of the lore in 2 is that 99% of blades are like that because Amalthus is stealing their evolutionary data and preventing them from evolving into progressively more humanlike forms.
In Torna we should see a more even gradient between roboblades, quasi-roboblades and true humanlike blades, with some monster blades here and there. Instead it's even worse than it was in 2. We are told that Torna is a land where blades and humans live side by side as equals but we never see it, there are few blades in the world in the first place.
>Torna in Jin's flashback
>Blades all over the place, almost equal in number with humans
>Torna in the DLC
>there's like five NPC Blades total
What the hell happened? It's not like they even needed to make a bunch of new models for them, all the Blades in the flashbacks were just commons.
Imagine trying to sleep next door to Rex and Pyra
I’d keep her company
>Another Xeno doujin scanned
>It's another Pyra/Mythra/Nia doujin with Rex
>all those rare unscanned doujins about other blades
You'd think they'd get bored after 2-3 years. The other characters/blades are pretty choice.
Anyways, is anyone else finding it hard to go back to the base game after playing through Torna? Everyone having Orb Master by default is pretty lame but the polish on character models makes it hard to go back and Driver/Blade switch combat is pretty dope.
THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME?!
>So few people support Man City that they have to make up their own imaginary fans
Kek
I've honestly found it harder to go from the base game back to Torna than the other way around. Switching between drivers and blades is neat, but I just like the way the base game's combat flows much more, and even though it's a minor nitpick I always end up bothered that you can't move during specials in Torna.
Dubs but changed to subs immediately after Pyra awakening scene.
Strawberry or Banana?
I don't know..
This counts right?
Praxis and Theory are the thinking man's sister love triangle
You know the game is shit when people only discuss waifus, not the game itself lol
good pick user
Just finished Chapter 2, having a lot of fun so far. Are there any notable casual filters coming up? The game has been pretty easy so far so I figure its gonna spike soon.
Strawberrys
The only reason Kasandra was decent was because her skills raised aggro.
The real issue with shield hammers is they need to raise aggro to be useful but they're too slow and weak to do that. If you gave all of them Kasandra's ability innately then they'd be ok
Paper
>Are there any notable casual filters coming up?
Chapter 3 has a series of casual filters, starting with all the enemies in Uraya having way more HP than they need.
Iced coffee.
Mythera deserves love. She isn't just a weapon!
Ah, fun. I'll finally get to flex my combos and shit
There are casual filters all over the place. The game's still easy overall but you'll probably die a few times in certain places.
Chapter 3 is a big casual filter. Basically they pump up the hp of all the enemies a shit ton. The reason is they want you to experiment with the game and learn the combat system fully because you'll need to know it for the boss. It's not even a hard casual filter just a tedious one if you try to beat every enemy.
Here's a handy dandy chart that has all the combos user
One criticism I have is that the more interesting Blades disappear from the story after their personal quest is over. I mean, it makes sense, because you can only get them randomly, but it could've been interesting to see them react to certain plot twists.
X had this problem, too.
QUeEn zeNObiA!?
Blackberry.
Grape.
Lemon
DON'T FORGET ...
What the happened to this artist? They drew so much and then just disappeared completely out of nowhere.
>Tfw you realize they were all (probably) saying that in remembrance to Hugo
>It gets cut and by proxy he is forgotten
I've actually gotten the models working
Are there any requests? The only internal mention I've seen of "zohar" is in the bone structure of Malos' sword. Actual model pieces aren't given specific names.
This is the real reason Mor Ardain is going to shit.
That's probably my one major complaint about the game too. I hope if they do a similar sort of setup in the next game they pay more attention to detail like that
Could I get one Finch, my good user? Her holding the camera would be cute.
I know we're meming, but i love that they had hugo say that in torna. What a hilarious callback
Been sticking to dubs because of Nia but I've been cringing at everyone else, and my autism doesnt allow me to use subs because they are for the dub and are probably inaccurate plus they dont sub the battle voices and banter so eh. The sub is way better but the subs are wrong
I still don't get why they patched it out.
It also still don't get why they never patched it back in.
Im gonna start a fresh game
I got kos mos pretty early and it made me feel guilty because I felt like I was breaking the balance of the fight to rescue mythra by using another light element blade
Honestly the low res of the portable mode isn't as bad as I thought it would be which is the reason I held off buying it for a while. Might be because I used to play on my (now bricked) 3ds
homura's swimsuit mogs mythra's so hard, why didn't she get a bikini? Why did nobody get a bikini?
I dont get it
There's a reason every screenshot of portable mode looking like shit is in Gormott/Torigoth.
You might need to explain the camera thing to me
because bikinis are the plebeian swimwear
Do you hate bellybuttons or something?
What has that to do with my post?
>That one artist alone among the hoards of Pyra/Mythra art who draws Pandoria
Truly a blessed man.
That's the titan where Nia was born right or is it the town? I forget but still, it looks ok even in towns
I just mean posing her with her arms forward and holding onto the camera like pic related.
I'm not sure how much freedom you have with posing and expressions, so no worries if it would turn out looking clunky.
It'd be great if you could provide a side and back shot of her model though. It'd be a handy art reference.
Gormott is the titan, Torigoth is the town on that titan. It's where almost all of the game's graphical fuck ups are concentrated for some reason.
>its another generic as fuck "sci fi" JRPG
>complete with over designed characters
it's the grassy plains titan
Mean to reply to this guy , sorry user.
Basically you can load specific animations. You're also able to manipulate her skeleton, but in my experience, it's more like you stretch it rather than just move body parts and it looks weird. I can give it a shot though.
then yeah gormott and torigoth doesnt look that bad
Gotcha. If it doesn't work out then try loading up her idle animation with her sitting instead. That's pretty cute.
Thanks for the HD birds all the same!
Do I actually have to spend the money for the bion connectors or item there something I need to do?
how does this compare against xc1 or xcx? I've been kinda off it since its loaded up with waifu and gacha trash, and the new battle system seems a bit bad, although I can sort of manage around it if its somewhat worth it.
Nia thinks Lewd noises are going to eat her, is adorable.
You can salvage for them, like the game told you.
Go salvaging. You can get them from any of the salvage points in Gormott.
What? There is not a new doujin scanned, why you lie?
To hurt you user, what else?
You get enough blades through other means to be able to totally ignore the gacha if you want, and people massively overblow the waifushit. It's definitely worth a play if you liked 1.
Have you played Torna yet?
Do they come with the in game animations?
I tried getting a view of her from the back, but the renderer doesn't take nicely to her "hair" plumage from that angle and doesn't render it at all.
I'm hoping I can find a plugin that allows me to export as a webm. I rendered Nia's battle cheering and the resulting 167 frame AVI was 0.99 GB.
Started with the dub because I played it right after XC1. Boy was I in for a surprise.
Switched to the sub after Chapter 1.
What genre would you say this game best fits into?
Unfortunate. Here's hoping you find a way to squash them down.
Thanks again for the pictures though!
A year and a half later and no one managed to replicate lighting from the game.
It'll be hard to go back to the original game's combat system after playing Torna. Plus there's a couple of much-needed QoL improvments.
Science fantasy
Homu's in-game backstory.
I loved the first Xenoblade, went in to 2 planning on hating it, but it somehow won me over.
The battle system is confusing as hell and the game explains it horribly, but once you figure out what you're actually meant to be doing it's a ton of fun. The waifu crap's obnoxious but it's not as omnipresent in the plot as I was expecting it to be - for the most part the plot's just a goofy shonen adventure story. It shamelessly embraces a bunch of cliche bullshit, but by the end of the game I thought it tied things together in a surprisingly enjoyable way, and I got a lot more invested in some of the characters than I expected (though Rex and Pyra/Mythra are really weak main characters).
I can't compare it to X because I haven't played that one yet, but even though 2 isn't quite on the level of quality as 1, I still had a ton of fun with it. If it didn't have so many awkward design decisions (was the fucking gacha really necessary?) and technically issues I think I'd like it even more than XB1.
>went in to 2 planning on hating it
you bought a game with the intention of hating it
Learn how to play as the tank, or go to NG+ and use an overpowered QT Pi setup.
Yes, I have autism.
>waifu crap's obnoxious
Pneuma > Torna Mythra > Pyra > Vanilla Mythra
I'm using a tool by PredatorCZ, which is separate to the private tool made by Ploaj with the models from last year. From what I understand, PredatorCZ contributed a lot of research for the private tool, but he released this one early this month as a major update to an older tool from over a year ago that he also made (not to be confused with the private tool). Xenoblade 2 maps are still not supported, though Xenoblade X maps are.
After decrypting the game, you get a folder called bf with the subfolders
>bdat
>bnvib
>camera
>effect
>event
>font
>gmk
>map
>menu
>minigame
>model
>>bl (Blades)
>>en (Enemies)
>>np (NPCs)
>>oj (Objects)
>>pc (Player Characters)
>>we (Enemy Weapons)
>>wp (Player Weapons)
>monolib
>param
>script
>sound
For the files in the model folder, there's
>WIMDO (the models and textures)
>MOT (the animations)
>ARC
>WIEFP
>WISMT
>WISWT
I don't exactly know how to incorporate the latter four file types or what exactly it is that they do. I figure that WIEFP are effect particles or something going by the name. But I'm sure that the lighting and camera angles are in other folders and the tool just needs to be updated to properly incorporate them.
As for textures, there's stuff like normal mapping and ambient occlusion. While I'm a novice at this kind of stuff, I would think that they're supposed to be applied with the traditional color textures so that they don't look as flat. I just don't know how to do that.
Torna really saved Mythra's character
seems like the best place to ask, Should I open the blade cores as soon as I get them or wait until I have higher luck? And does it matter which character I pick?
All they had to do was give her an actual personality instead of "alter ego that pops up whenever Pyra needs to be mean/angry"
You can open them as soon as you get them, luck only really matters when you're down to the last few rares in the gacha.
The character you pick does matter somewhat, the blades you get are tied to the character the core was opened on and can only be transferred using rare one-use items called overdrive protocols.
How do I know which character to use the core? Do I just split them out evenly?
Luck affects gacha pull rates, but the game also has a mercy mechanic where it'll give you a guaranteed rare blade after failing enough times; this happens three separate times.
The idea levels of your characters affect the probability of pulling blades of a certain element (including rare blades); the highest idea determines the two affected elements. If you try to use a booster, you can watch the animation that floats around the core crystal, which hints at which elements each idea corresponds to.
Common Cores are exactly what they say on the tin so you might as well use them as soon as you get them early on. Rares too, but maybe keep a few for later. Legendaries should be saved for later.
Here you go esé.
I'm very new to the game so I've no clue of most of what you say. Should I use three cores per character?
you mean rex is very meh meh meh
Post Nia
you ungrateful nigger torna was high above anything nintendo ever shat out as dlc especially breasts of the wild
How many Nias you want m8
Is Torna worth getting?
That doesn't mean it's beyond criticism.
congrats buddy, you finished a horrible game. good on you pal
why does the center of her body look normal but her arms look like cancer patient?
Thanks.
You knew what I wanted and you successfully delivered!
Mingeitis
So can you set poses with this?
Yes. Some models are easy to match for animations because of identical skeletons (bath Mythra and normal Mythra), and you can also adjust the skeletons.
Try to keep things balanced; don't just burn all your cores on Rex.
Yes. The combat system is revamped and is much more satisfying from a gameplay/story integration perspective.
Any chance of some lewd Nia poses, then?
I can't get enough of her.
alright, thanks. Another quick question, do you need to play the other games to understand the lore/characters?
There's some stuff in the late game that's a little easier to appreciate if you've played XB1, but it isn't a requirement at all.
mhmm how difficult is it to emulate the old games on a pc?
I have almost zero experience with modeling. Last time I tried moving a skeleton joint, I basically stretched out a chunk of the body.
XB1 is one of the most difficult games to emulate, with constant stuttering.
That was some years ago, it's a lot better now.
No problem at all.
Do you think you could post Dahlia's model for me, though? I really like her, too!
Absolutely.
Malnutrition, she needs to eat more lolis
Docked, combat fps constantly in 25's, during specials in the 10's.
Portable, silky smooth 30.
lol
>No longer having the ability to cancel arts into arts after starting a new game
END MY TORMENT
just finished torna, ready to go back to play the original ng+. anything I should do before I start it? I have the expansion pass from the e3 sale
_______________Have Fun______________
It has tons of mods, ultra wide screen hacks, hd textures and even button replacement ones. Dolphin emulator has come a long way.
Make like 10 Love Source to carry over into NG+ in order to speed up affinity on any new blades you get. Unless you're willing to just rush to Ch 9.
Maybe get to the level cap so you can immediately refund some levels and still be super overpowered.
Pretty Lady Dahlia
I'm learning how to do things while posting these like only rendering a specific area.
By the time those mods are available the game was still stuttering.
It wasn't until 1 or 2 years ago they got it to run better.
Based and dubpilled
youtube.com
Gotta disappear for a while. Will probably be back for another thread if one picks up.
Dahlia's a big girl.
Started with dub, tried subs on NG+ but the voices were insuferably squeaky so I went straight back to English midway through Chapter 2. How anyone can stand Jap Gramps and Tora is beyond me.
Cute bunny tail!
Thanks for taking the time to upload these pictures.
Bye!
Remember that completing quests gives way more affinity chart points than combat does early game. I made sure to complete all quests I came across in my new game and I was able to unlock art canceling at I think the end of chapter 3/start of 4?
literally an upgrade in everything
playable blades
no obtuse orb building
actual meaningful crafting
kino combat
having to craft pouch items instead of just buying them fucking sucked though
the idea of it was cute but in practice it was awful
Anyone got some other waifu games on the Switch?
Am I high or does he sound like a happier and younger Apollo Diomedes?
You have good taste OP.
You have great taste in Blades, OP. You're still a faggot, but a faggot with great taste.
You know, I can actually hear it too.
I haven't played it yet but the art direction looks like shit, is it any good?
I played Xenoblade X and it's one of my favorite games but Xenoblade 2 seems too different
Mythra and Pyra looks good in anything, it's amazing
Indeed.
This should be decided once and for all. And there's only one way to do that.
I dont mean to rub it in, but I gotta be honest. Getting KOS-MOS after my 200th hour was one of the best gaming experiences of my life.
It's the best DLC since TW3's ones
The sides should be flipped really.
I didn't have much problem as well. Heck, most screenshots in portable mode with shit resolution are from some particular places, and you're looking at those compressed to hell 720p screenshots on your 55" TV or PC Monitor. On the Switch's tiny screen, it's acceptable. Could be better, but far from a deal breaker to me.
We need more of best girl.
Nintendo's department of Ethics is pretty based
Now I wanna see Zeke as a Space Marine
Good only a loud minority here actually played without the dub, and they insist on shaming anyone who dont for whatever reason
People of Alrest voted for Blade of the Year, and they voted well.
Thanks anons, should I get it on digital? It's cheaper for some reason as a seasons pass than the standalone cartridge.
Did you beat Xenoblade 2
Well, it isn't for some reason, cartridge has to be made, boxed, shipped and retailer get their margin. You get the very same things if you buy it digital or physical (= the XC2's DLC Blades/Quests/Bonuses + Torna), the only difference is you need your XC2 cartridge to launch Torna if you buy digital. If you buy it physical, you don't need XC2's base game.
Shit's hot these days
>no obtuse orb building
How is that a plus? The orb building feels natural in XC2. In Torna, it's literally braindead combat where you don't have to put a single thought in what you're doing. It brings some cool things to the base combat, but its combo system is definitely a downgrade.
X and 2 are good for different reasons. Certain positives with X may not apply to 2. As an example, 2 has almost no outfit customization and what does exist is tied to the story, cutscenes, or DLC. There's no Enemy Index or Bestiary or Collectopedia to give flavor text to the hundreds of enemies and items. There aren't even pictures for items, so many have names that make you feel like they were going for something but just didn't have time to implement it. The exploration isn't anywhere near as good, the unique monsters aren't as memorable, and there are numerous moments moments that make the game feel rushed, particularly in the initial version of the game. But it does have a lot of content and the gameplay becomes really engaging the more you try to learn about it.
i was typing up a similar reply but you said what i wanted to better.
Bitch it ain't even 120 it's one of the coolest summers we've had
I need help. Over the past several months I beat Xenoblade 1 and Xenoblade 2, dumped a ridiculous amount of hours into them, and I have become terribly obsessed. How the fuck do I stop thinking about these games? Are there any games you guys play that are entirely different that helps you take a break from Xeno? I’m very tempted to jump on Xenogears but I know I’ll get burnt out.
user you're in a thread full of people talking about xenoblade 2 almost 2 years after its release
this is not the best place to go looking for advice on how to get out of this obsession
I think it helps to play other good games that are completely different.
Also this user has a very good point kek
Fuck
What games?
Play Monster Hunter.
World, Generations, both. Which ever is more convenient.
You don't. Especially when we get new content every day. Just embrace it.
I want to ____ Praxis!
>trying to fight the enemy drivers in Greatspine boundary
>Sniping Brent never fails to aggro onto us
This kind of shit is the only problem I have with the game so far. I can't even pull the enemy drivers far enough so that the bird doesn't aggro
KILL
>spend 20 minutes trying to kill it so it stops aggroing on me
>the fucker summons another lv 20 bird at half heath and kills me
Sniping Brent is a cunt
i just finished xenoblade 1. are jrpg's always so fucking full of plotholes?
LIKE WE JUST SAID WE THOUGHT THE MECHONIS WHERE GONE FOR GOOD AT THE BATTLE OF SWORD VALLEY. BUT WE HAVE KNOWN THAT COLONY 6 WAS STILL UNDER CONSTANT ATTACK, SO WHY DID WE THINK THE MECHONIS WHERE GONE.
Also a lot of reactions or mainly lack therof from characters that dont make a lick of sense.
also just started xenoblade x WTF IS UP WITH THE FUCKING FONT SIZE AND SUPER LOUD BACKGROUND MUSIC.
CAN I SKIP THIS GAME AND JUST PLAY XENOBLADE 2?
Are you sure its better? i heard the dub was a very lackluster performance.
Using the Seal Reinforcements combo should work for that. I didn't know he summoned a monster when I tried fighting him by himself I didn't have time to set it up though.
Also I managed to find a spot where I could fight the drivers for long enough that the bird only aggroed, the the last one was just about dead, so thats nice.
They didn't know anything like that. Colony 6 thought the Mechon were gone too until the attack that took place shortly before the game starts.
feed
from the game and story events and especially the gadolt flashbacks it was made clear there was more then 1 attack. they had been under attack multiple times ever since the battle at sword valley.
orb building is completely useless and a chore even monolith realized it, yes it is cool to build 8 orbs and do a full burst the first time but its incredibly outclassed by chain attack spike damage, dot ramp up 999999 damage per second or driver combo stunlock into prneuma fusion combo overkill
building orbs in anything past normal mode is absolutely pointless and complicated for no reason, its a fun challenge before you unlock your possibilities
Who was your favorite character in terms of writing or arc?
Most nearly every character ended up having a lot more to them than I expected, even Rex
Torna was great, did you see me calling it a 10/10 DLC? It was so good that the only faults the game had were
1. Not fully living up to the story expectations (no Temperantia, set half way through the aegis war, Torna isn't really depicted as it's described in the main game)
2. Too short, though it was more than a bargain for its price. I would have preferred to pay full price for a full game that came out in summer of this year rather than paying for a DLC last year. But perhaps it's for the best, they probably didn't expect 2 to take off like it did and are leveraging that into doing something better for 2020/2021, or maybe 22 depending on how many resources are siphoned for BOTW2.
Is it possible to play Torna even though I haven't touched the base game in over a year?
I finished the game for the first time last week, I don't think I've played a game before that got me mad over "win fight, lose in cutscene", but they sure do like to push it in your face. The scale of the world and music is what mostly kept me going
sure
Same
The dub is actually really good for the more casual, low intensity bits like post battle banter of H2Hs
GIve them a counter or stagger
Speaking of Unique Monsters, post the ones that kicked your shit in the hardest.
Pic related for me, I straight up couldn't beat him even at the same level and had to come back after I'd beaten most of the other Torna UMs. Absolute wanker.
Malos is such a chad, I hope he makes a cameo in future Blade games
Nia has the best arc, Mythra if you include Torna. Rex's development felt really weak until the end of the game. Zeke had weak development. Morag's was subtle but there, but the last line she says after the final boss was fucking retarded and made me hate her. Tora had relatively little development but he's the comic relief character paired with the magical girl so you couldn't expect much out of him. Poppi kinda sorta gets development but I almost feel like they should have made qtpi part of the story and had her stick with her upgrades in the cutscenes at least. I guess Takahashi likes cute and funny metal girls too much to shift away from alpha after chapter 4 though.
I hated the fact you're gated so hard by a gorrillion sidequests. Fucking bullshit.
That guy was ez.
Autistic Tantrum Gold Cow though. Now that fucker can fuck off.
he's super dead though
I agree
I think Rex’s thing is almost intentional since it lays out his issues but doesn’t punish him for any of them until the end of the second act at which point you actually have a really clear idea of who he is
It’s not consistent development but it ended up getting to me
>Her two hair-boobs are shaped up like pointy tiddies
What did CHOCO mean by this?
For me, it's that NPC loli in Garfront that keeps talking about what her dad said and what he would do and so on all throughout the game and near the end she reveals her dad is dead and she's only guessing what he would do and say.
I think they all had great development, bare Morag who was just there. She had her little development, but not that much. Nia is probably my favorite one, then Mythra, even more so thanks to Torna.
god imagine the heavenly paizuri she could give
the aoft friction of the fiber mixes with the fluffy force of her tatas gently caressing the ridges of your poner and then squeezing with mint might as you eplode in a fountain of cum that settles on her silky face and prompts a bedroom eyea look followed by a small lick on your tip to have a taste of the product of her operate
I can’t believe I felt the dopamine rushing in my brain when seeing the cutscenes in the final battle in torna. fucking kino
That spy that turned tranny in torna
That faggot Driver that was on a narrow battle space, and I kept getting kicked out and die from falling. FUCK THAT GUY. Also pic related for obvious reasons, but I only had myself to blame for not looking up.
Bless the Architect
Malos. He went from a mildly entertaining jackass jock villain to my favorite character surprisingly quickly.
>fucking kino
It absolutely was.
Tora gets some in H2Hs and after saving his father but yeah, he’s mostly the comic relief
Though I did like how much they gave him to do overall. I think they could have given all the characters a little more to do in the final act.
I would have stretched out the fight between Torna and Amalthus. I’d have it start once everyone lands in Morytha, with you fighting up the World Tree as a sort of vertical battle field. Give small sub plots to each party member
>Tora has to help save the Artificial Blades with Poppi which helps take the pressure off of the tree itself
>Zeke helps you disable Amalthus’ remote use of Haze’s core crystal by invading Indol
>Once the Titans start gathering, Morag gets you to jump over there to fight off some of the forces fighting on the Titan itself, as well as enlist the help of the Mor Ardain army to push past Indol.
>Nia helps heal Torna, closing her arc of needing to find a place to belong by helping the other Post-Amalthus-fight Torna members find a place to belong with the rest of the party
I dunno, anyone have better third act ideas for each party member?
>depending on how many resources are siphoned for BOTW2.
ugh cant wait for another gimped xeno game because aonuma needs monolith to salvage his shit
Morag definitely could have gotten more. She has utility but she could have used an actual bit of development. And it doesn’t even need to be her changing, but maybe we go over more how she has changed prior to the main story beginning. Go through a little politics arc that explores her childhood and gives more context to the international dynamics
Mythra and Pyra really became the main character of XB2 as a whole after Torna
I fucking love how similar she and Malos are In Torna and how much both of them have changed by the time XB2 starts
Nia also really grew past the whole tomboy tsundere thing
Tora you glorious motherfucker
Literally every single japanese game that gets an english dub gets accused of being poor quality.
mehmeh.....
Monolith have expanded a ton now and even opened an entire new studio, so hopefully something like that won't happen again.
Yeah. The ending of XB2 did a really solid job of tying together a ton of disparate plots and themes from all the detouring in the middle act
My only wish is that they didn’t kill Vandam off at the end of chapter 3. Ideally it would be
>Second half of chapter 3 is more about Urayan politics and the fallout of the war between them and Mor Ardain, also alluding to Artificial Blades by having you fight some
>first half of chapter 4 becomes going to Mor Ardain, hearing their side of the story and then Vandam dies in a similar way
>roc recovery becomes a side quest instead
xenoblade 2's dub actually is poor quality though. that doesn't stop it from being enjoyable or having some good qualities, but it stands in extremely stark contrast to the first game's dub. even some of the VAs (like Pyra/Mythra's) said they wished they had gotten more context for scenes or the ability to redo some of the shittier lines
I wouldn't really expect Monolith to go all out in budget and manpower on their next Xenoblade, anyway. I feel like they're comfortable working in small/medium-sized team and reasonable budget. Takahashi learned the hard way he has to be kept in check, and I'm pretty sure he does that himself by allowing a set time and budget to develop a game, and won't deviate from it.
they said they had to leave out a lot of things they wanted to implement because of XB2's tight development schedule, and that next time they'd like to make a game where they could include everything they want, so I don't know about that
XB2 should be remade in two console gens but with all the Torna stuff integrates back into the main games
Primarily, the QoL stuff, more diverse Blade arts that they use and the camping stuff
I’d love to see a camping system with unique little background animations for Rare Blades interacting and hanging out and sleeping
xenoblade 1 had good dub. and so far chronicles has been doing well
so did you dub or sub?
The QoL stuff from Torna should have just been in a patch for the main game, it baffles me that it wasn't.
I don't know if Takahashi said something about more content or bugfixes in interviews, but regarding the Torna content, he definitely said he wrote everything, and from how many words he writes, he now knows pretty well how much development time it takes to make it a game (which he learned from his experiences in Xenogears and Saga). he said they left the Torna content from the very beginning of development. Meaning they already had a set budget and timed schedule, and they didn't deviate from it. heck, nobody believed they would make it to the December release date, yet they did though they indeed should've polished the game 3 more months
Tell that to the first Xenoblade and The Wonderful 101
Or any Metal Gear game
You twat
>Torna stuff
do i play that first or just the main game first
also is it worth it to finish x if i mainly want to finish it so i have a full lore update for x2?
Torna is
Definitely play the main game first, user. Torna doesn't wast time in world building, it will assume you already place the base XC2 game.
puffy vulva
best vulva.
*already played the base XC2 game
>sample
Don't do that, user
Torna is designed to be played either after the main game or alongside the latter half of it. It drops info that the main game treats as major spoilers left and right.
dub then sub
I like the dub but I'm still disappointed in it and desperately wish it had at least been on torna's level of quality from the start
off-model because nia can control the size of her ass but not her tits
I'm pretty sure that the studio they opened in Kyoto is to assist with internal Nintendo games like it was for BotW and Octo Expansion
>hey you know that mechanic where you build up orbs for massive damage in a Chain Attack
>yeah well fuck that and fuck you
Tlaloc can go eat a dick
As others have already said , they re easier then they look. Remember poppy qt pie is broken as fuck, just farm that hell minigame for 30 hours or so, then farm arduran, that s why i did at least godspeed user
>tfw this game missed the Amiibo craze
Such a shame
The real shame is that there never was a Deep Rising set.
Who needs Amiibos when we got 2 god tier scales? You better announce a Nia or pneuma at WonFes, GSC.
so did you do quick playthrough or did you literally spend 400 hourdoing everything twice?
I assume you would just switch on NG+
whats the point of ng+? i played that on xb1 for 20 minutes to look at dunban NOT USING THE MONADO and shulk having the monada while studying the monada.
every enemy is piss weak so idk
for instance. HOW TEH FUCK DOES ANYONE HURT MECHON? was it not stated that only the monado can hurt the mechon. this is even shown in the gameplay until dickson invents anti-mechon weapons
subs
>Pyra (awoken)
What did they mean by this?
dub on the first playthrough+postgame then sub in ng+. ended up going back to dub once I beat the final boss in ng+
>CAN I SKIP THIS GAME AND JUST PLAY XENOBLADE 2?
If you're talking purely from a story/lore stand-point then yes - there's a nice call-back to the first game late-on which kinda ties up things that link the two games, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not really that important. XC2 is pretty much 99% stand-alone.
>win the boss fight
>get facefucked in the cutscene
Game is fun, but suck my cock this shit is annoying. Almost every fucking boss fight so far has done this shit
i will probably just rush play it, the game is kinda okay but almost unplayable with this unreadable font and and background FUCKING RAP "music" that overshadows all other sounds.
Proto Pyra or finalized Pyra?
Doesn't happen. If you win the fight you win in the cutscene. If the fight gets interrupted you lose.
he's asking if he can skip xbx, not 1
X yes, the way it's connected to XC and XC2 is still uncertain if anything, so yeah. Enjoy Pyra's game.
That's not true. VS Vandham in chapter 3 is a textbook cutscene loss, and there are a LOT of fights where you beat the boss and then they're fine in the cutscene. Even if the party ultimately prevails it still feels like a loss in those cases.
Why would you lie like that.
There's that one against the Torna dudes where Patroka whines because they're getting their ass kicked until Jin shows up and turns the tables.
Monolithsoft were experimenting with designing gameplay first and then story for Xenoblade and Xenoblade X. Up till then most of their games had been unfinished and rushed due to time and budget constraints, mostly because the story got too large. I think they then found a good middle ground when making XB2.
Vs. Vandham is the only one, and that's because it turns out not to be an actual fight. The fact that you're too autistic to see anything aside from
>REX RUNS UP TO MORAG AND CUTS HER THROAT
as a victory is your problem.
So what, are there different cutscenes for if you don't meet a time limit or something? Like, with the first Malos, Marag, and the trio when you first get to Uraya, I finished them all off, didn't get interrupted or anything.
>Malos: Rex can barely keep up, would been fucked without Gramps saving him
>Morag: Rex and co. can't even make her sweat until the watertower gets dropped
>Trio: Rex can't even scratch the NTR guy, only survives because he was just fucking with him and is actually friendly.
i mean there is so much of this shit.
like how could anyone defeat telethia without shulk? we know that telethia should be unbeatable and being able to forsee all attacks unless you can counter it. yet all the races can kinda battle hem just fine when shulk is down for the count and after our party is confronting zanza.
holy fuck. i just looked up their games
THEY MADE BATEN KAITOS? that games story was fucking amazing.
Proto Pyra is top cute, but final Pyra gives more of that mommy vibe that seems to be the intent of the character.
did people here play xenosaga? is the ds version better?
That's because by necessity they are all poor quality. Japanese and English are very different as languages, and the amount of time it takes to say something in one language is completely different than the other. Since the pacing of all JRPG cutscenes are shaped around the flow of the Japanese language, there's a reason why English dialogue always seems so awkward in JRPG cutscenes, and makes you say stuff like "who actually talks like that?". Dubbers try their best to match the English dialogue to the pacing set by Japanese, but they inevitably always fail.
It's better as a game and a more polished product but 90% of the appeal of Xenosaga is the crazy story and experiencing that through the ps2 cutscenes is pretty vital.
the cutscenes are not in the ds version? (we are talking actual anime cutscenes right?)
No steam no b-GODDAMMIT I WANT EVERYTHING ON STEAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!
HHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
No I believe they're just character sprites and text like in a visual novel. All the cutscenes in the PS2 versions are in engine, they had to do that because there wouldn't be enough space left on the disc if they were all rendered.
It's seven friggin' hours of cutscenes.
youtube.com
could i watch that movie instead of emulate the game? or are you missing story? also the game takes 40 hours to beat. so 7 hours of that is a movie?
What?
I don't know man, the story and world is so dense and intricate that I'd always recommend playing the game just so all the info can soak in. There's ingame wikis in Ep 1 and 3 that are super useful. But then again in terms of gameplay the games have aged incredibly poorly and can be a slog. I definitely recommend emulating so you can use cheats to skip as much of the combat as possible. Episode 3 is really the only one in the series that has good gameplay and level design.
and yeah, there are times where you don't touch the controller for up to 40 minutes.
It means she awoke to her favorite shota's preference, and thus grew a godlike ponytail.
Imagine if we got Proto Mythra. And you can bet she would actually pass Nintendo's Department of Ethics, they're chill guys
This god damn bird right here was the last blade I needed for the longest fucking time, and it seemed like no matter what the game just didn’t want me having her!
>Zenobia
>Perun
>T-elos
>Elma
Game had some great delicious brown
I'M CUMMINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!
I wish, they blacked her legs because the outfit they ended up going with was too revealing too, so I doubt it.
Crystal treatment
They only pantyhosed her just for Smash though to prepare us mentally beforehand and without causing an outrage, because she'll be in as Rex's Blade with her sister for the 5th character. You know it's true.
>implying it won't just be Rex and Pyra, with Mythra as the final smash
Nah, we all know what the Final Smash will look like
If they ever got in, Pnuema would be the Final Smash with Down+B probably being the ability to switch between Pyra and Mythra. But again, if they ever got in which they won't
Why did Amalthus decide to not allow Rex passage to Elysium in chapter 8/9? He seemed pretty genuine about letting them get there in chapter 5/6.
>No pc release
Guess nintendcunts don't want my money a pitty...
Just finished recently with Zenobia as a main as well.
Also 100+ hours and no KOSMOS.
>unironically watching dubs
what the fuck happened to this board
In standard jRPG gameplay, KOS-MOS is basically a post-game weapon you get after clearing some bonus dungeon. So treat her as that. Just farm Arduran for Legendary Cores and you'll get her quickly. 100 cores and there's 51% chance of getting her. Shouldn't take more than 40 minutes to get those cores. and then 30 minutes of opening and clearing them, which is the worst
Well, assuming that ever existed in first place.
Nah, it'll be Rex and Pyra who'll turn into Pneuma for the final Smash.
I got KOS-MOS out of a basic core crystal about mid-way through the game. I believe my last three random blades on the first run were Newt, Dagas and Perun in that order.
It wasn't much he didn't want him to, but Rex and Pneuma pretty much destroyed Indol when they were heading there, basically he saw them getting in the way and so had to get rid of them.
He turned on them after Rex made it clear that he wasn't just going to follow Amalthus's orders and use Mythra's power to kill Torna for him.
As far as Amalthus is concerned, after that point they're his enemies, and they would only "sully the Architect's presence" by going to Elysium..
good job kid
Rex and Pneuma didn't do much to destroy Indol, they just took out the amp towers. The actual destruction of the titan was all Mikhail.
>mfw I got all the rare gacha blades with ease before finishing the game
Yeah I guess, but it wasn't in condition to carry on the attack after that, Mikhail finished off the job.
Because Rex had, to that point, realized that wiping out Torna completely would simply continue the revenge-cycle between Blades and non-Blades which is why Jin was the way he was in the first place. That and Amalthus knew he couldn't use Rex & Pyra/Mythra anymore for his own personal agenda.
Amalthus was a disappointment. Given how much build-up he had, I expected he'd do more than just randomly show up and get killed. He was ultimately just a device to explain Malos' motives and kill off Torna so Rex didn't have to.
Emma redux. I had to cheese with Corvin to slay that cunt.
Elma redux*
Well, he might not be directly interacting with the party a whole bunch, but he's still the driving force behind a lot of things in the game. Other than influencing Malos, he also sent the troops to Spessia that killed Lora, turned Gort, Mikhail and Zeke into Blade Eaters, took half of Haze/Fan's core, blackmails Tantal, is the reason that Blades stopped evolving into Titans, etc.
And without him all the main villains of the game would be Blades, so I think he serves an important role of actually giving Torna someone to point to when they bitch about how shitty humans are. I think he also kind of fits the role of the 'person like me' that Klaus was so worried would eventually appear from the new humanity.
>best selling game in the Xeno series
>n-no pc release?
lol
Sheba is into Lesbian Loli, so she is automatically a bro.
>t.brainlet
Stop bullying her gamers!
twitter.com
What? Who is this and why should I care.
>less than 10m ago
Excuse me what the fuck is going on with her?
Were are these mysterious forums calling her out on her yaoi doujins?
>What? Who is this and why should I care.
>not knowing the queen of the Xeno-series
I've only ever played 2.
twitter.com
>American moviegoers once asked me if Xenosaga (a videogame franchise) was a fanfic or a self published thing.
Why is she talking with American moviegoers about Xenosaga? Does she bring it up with strangers in theaters?
She designed gorg
Don't worry she doesn't do anything relevant in this series anymore, all she does know all day is complain at Twitter at no one
>is xenosaga an evangelion fanfic
OK Michael
Many suspect she has some unrecorded relationship there but I can't prove it.
>No that was my other work Xenogears
>xenosaga is a fanfic of that fanfic
Best boy.
Had a tiring day at work and I just want to post some pictures of my cat wife
I've also been trying to get through the Xenosaga trilogy but 1 has a bunch of really repetitive shit. I'm current scouring the Durandal for survivors of the Gnosis attack. Is there still
a point where the game gets better or should I Youtube the rest and move on to 2?
Dub and I regretted it greatly
Dub, tried sub but I enjoy the battle quotes too much.
They really should have put out a guide extension for all the updates. That guide came out January last year and only acknowledges up to the December 2017 update which was mainly just QoL changes.
It doesn't have
>New Game+ content like Pneuma's level IV, the Torna Blades, bards, etc.
>T-elos and DLC Blades
>Challenge Mode and its tons of new items
>DLC quests
>Torna DLC
Dub, because I wanted to see how bad it could be following: "TAKE THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!!"
The ending to one is kino
>120
not everyone on this planet is amerilard dingus
Guess I'll force myself through then. I really took the great music and worlds of the blade games for granted
>never learn anything about pre-blade Nia
>never really learned anything about her
She got shafted to the extreme.
torna was literally sitting on a hard drive waiting to be discarded until nintendo said "nigga make dlc", there's restraining yourself and there's throwing away potential kino like torna
they revamped the whole engine, it cannot be adapted for the base game, even the graphics are different, look it up, the chances were so fundamental on a coding level that they can't be possibly "ported" to the base game without rebuilding it from scratch, there's a reason torna took 1 year to develop
Pre-Blade Nia? She was always a Blade
The worst part of 1 was no overworld music
The ending to three is also kino. Just watch two.
I think he means pre-flesh eater. We don't even know which appearance is her original.
Also read pied pier before 2 and watch missing year before 3
She is a Flesh Eater, so there was some kind of connection. Those two Torna blades call each other brother and sister, because they ate siblings.
that damage is pretty fucking shit desu
I assumed that the "Blade form" and "Driver form" gave it away. Her "sister" also has the same hairstyle as Blade Nia, just not as long.
Before I played Xenoblade 2, I had very low expectations with Rex because I read people's opinions on him, but after finishing the game, I like him
Is that because of resonance or did consuming her further affect her appearance?
Haze looked like her driver, so I guess it could be either one.
I've personally speculated that the Transformed Flesh Eaters reflect some sort of wish fulfillment within the blade. Nia looks more like the sister she wanted to save and Jin looks more Titan-like and he took pride in how the blades became titans
are you joking? she got the most attention out of the party members, and unless you're itching to write super detailed fanfiction or something autistic we learned everything we needed to about her backstory
Not him but I already did.
by your logic Jin should look like Lora or something, not a Titan
when he became a Flesh Eater he wasn't thinking about how great it is that Blades become Titans, he was thinking about how bullshit it was that Blades return to their cores and forget everything when their Driver dies
It was all his fault.
I still think a Titan is the best physical form to reflect his outlook on the world
Her blade one more likely it'd seem the blades who become flesh-eaters look the same except for their core crystals looking different, see Jin.
FUCK REX
>see Jin
He never had this form in Torna
Yeah. Even though Jin has his second form later on, immediately after he became a flesh eater he just looked the same as normal.
I think Nia would be the same.
It's a voluntary transformation
Rex was a pretty cool guy, honestly. Would drink a beer with.
Morag!
I've never fapped to Nia before, but holy shit, that fucking navel
!
!
Yes, we know you want to fuck Rex, Pyra
Cute
I like Rex too, him and all you guys!
Protopyra was never meant to be since Takahashi is the biggest mommyfag I've heard of
I don't know what they did, but they really nailed navels in XC2. God bless Takahashi and his fetishes.
Did I hear mommy?
See
that's his flesh-eater power up tho
Mommy?
He never used that form at all in torna and later on mentions that flesh-eaters awaken unique powers
>tfw you'll never marry Vess
why live
By covering them and making them all practically invisible?
That's my point
Shulk x Fiora > Rex x Pyra
IMO
>they draw her panties in the art book
Nice
honestly they're both pretty shit
(and the alternate pairings aren't any better, as much as their fans claim they are)
Rex and nia>Shulk and melia>Rex and pyra>Shulk and fiora
This isn't even controversial
I respect your opinion but I disagree
>Rex and nia
>Shulk and melia
Her face was quite jarring in the game. I guess some art style doesn't translate too well in 3D form.
No, she doesn't, stupid bird
But did Rex accept her or did she just butt in?
It was Pyra and Rex's idea
She did impose herself.
It looks like Pyra waved at her and she just went in.
They held their hands out
Subs during story and cutscenes, dub while out in the field
Anybody said Pyra's navel?
How does a navel taste, anyway?
Can I play chronicles 2 if I haven't played any of the xeno games?
>get to the tutorial in chapter 3 where anchor shot gets Topple
>don't have it equipped since Tora and Nia already have the Break->Topple combo
>mfw
At least the game just lets you burn the poor animal down without toppling it, kind of silly that they were expecting you to still have it equipped
Yes, there's a twist at the end that relates to the first but not knowing it won't impact your greater understanding of the plot
Yeah you can.
It's Bongs or bust with Xenoblade. Yes, even X.
Her name was never Pnuema. You don't call Malos, Logos do you?
I don't user.
They finally started calling her Pneuma in the art book.
Probably to distinguish her from Pyra easily, or who knows what the hell they had planned for her during creation.
Why would you not have Anchor Shot equipped?
>Actually trusting the AI with health potions spawn and healing in general
Nia's been doing pretty well with healing on her own so far, so I didn't feel the need. I'll definitely always have Anchor Shot equipped from now on though, the AI doesn't seem reliable enough to handle doing combos on their own.
Can someone give me an understandable rundown on the combat system? All the guides I found online suck monkey cock
It's literally just build and spend.
Understand how the Driver and Blade combos work and learn to time your specials (it's easy) and you'll be fine.
>Auto-attack to build arts
>Cancel auto-attack recovery animations into arts to build Special
>Use arts to build Driver Combos (Break-Topple-Launch-Smash)
>Use Specials to build Blade Combos (Level I+ Special -> Level II+ -> Level III+ following the elemental chart in the top right corner) and create elemental orbs
>Driver Combos extend alloted time for Blade Combos
>Build Party Gauge by landing special effects of Arts, critting, etc.
>Use Chain Attack with maxed Party Gauge to break elemental orbs using their opposing elements (fire-water, ice-wind, earth-electricity, dark-light), multiplying damage dealt
This.
There was a DS version of Xenosaga?
Yeah it was never translates though. There was a fan translation in the works years ago but it's dead.
Something about that art is really appealing to me
Do the water axe guy pls
Opinions on this guy? As a villain It's definitely one of the best in the series. Also I'm having a hard time getting into Xenogears again. I'm at the prison and I have to go to the sewers, this section is pretty boring
