why the fuck would anyone want that jesus christ
I understand wanting the series to be open world since it's a game about finding and collecting monsters from a pool of 1000. that makes total sense, give players freedom to make the team they want whenever they want
but jesus christ I do not understand the real time meme for pokemon.
you are why pokemon has never evolved mechanics
I want the series to be more open and to have overworld wild encounters mate, but pokemon just isn't suited for real time battles. usually when people give suggestions for how to improve pokemon they'll just say real time combat without giving any examples. if you can give an example that doesn't look like trash then I might consider it, but op's webm definitely isn't that.
I prefer turn based for mainline but holy shit this combat style would be great for mystery dungeon
SASUKEEEEEEE
gamefreak should unironically hire new people, any undergraduate could do a better job coding their pokemon games than the current staff
HE MAKES IT IN A FLASH
magicka is fun.
It could be dumbed down magicka fight.
>it's fun to play games with a combat system devoid of any action where you only have to calculate statistics and press buttons.
You are the reason Pokémon is a shit franchise desu
yeah, I could see it working for a mystery dungeon like spinoff. the video was clearly made with the main games in mind considering the trainer on the sidelines, so that clouded my judgement
They're actually back: indiedb.com
>but jesus christ I do not understand the real time meme for pokemon.
I figure it's mostly people who grew up with the anime and want a game where combat feels like combat in the anime.
YW 4
I actually sorta like Pokemon Masters idea of traditional pokemon battle but in real-time, though I'm not sure if it'll work like vid related where you can disrupt and dodge moves through animation and hitboxes
At this point even WoW makes for a better Pokemon game.
The only reason old games had turn based mechanics is because of hardware limitations. Games evolve with the hardware. Nowadays almost every big franchise moved away from turn based combat and into real time, or they require the player to do more than just select rock paper scissors
Do you also want x-com and fire emblem to be real time you fucking mongoloid
Except in WoW breeds rarely matter and only 1 wild pet out of 1000 is relevant.
Those games require more than just
>select a move out of 4 and wait
You fucking inbreeded retard
you can use any pokemon in pokemon and win the game. kind of stupid to have hundreds of those things when one is more than enough
SOULLESS
>The only reason old games had turn based mechanics is because of hardware limitations
You are incredibly stupid.
There were action RPGs and turn-based RPGs on the SNES. It has nothing to do with hardware limitations.
It would make for more fun, immersive complex battles. Could have been the new gimmick, where the trainer's mind enters his Pokemon's for battle, could have called it Sync Battles.
The Pokemon fanbase is one of the worst game fanbases, that's why the games have been the same shit for 20 years. The majority of them are so retarded that they can't play anything that requires a bit of skill, so you change it and you will see them crying like this incel here because it's out of their comfort zone. Pokken is kino and yet it flopped because fans suck at it
Moves like smokescreen can actually be useful in a real-time combat, instead of a useless move that it's forgotten immediately
Gotta make the game for the kingdom hearts babies.
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
HIRE
Just play Digimon
HIRE THIS MAN!
HIRE THIS CEASE AND DESIST LETTER
this is Digimon World style combat basically
would actually be very fun in a pokemon game but unfortunately it will literally never happen because GF
>gamefreak should unironically hire new people, any undergraduate could do a better job coding their pokemon games than the current staff
The issue is they unironically don't know how to program modern games. They don't have the skillset for it or the processes in place.
There was an article out a while ago talking about how the games industry being secretive with it's techniques forced a lot of studios to constantly re-invent each other's wheels. Gamefreak as one of the examples, is about 12years behind current technology.
>Thinks accuracy affect moves are bad
It’s twenty nine fucking teen, the Pokemon games should look and play like the anime by now.
Real time is fine but this unironically looks like ass.
>Anonymous 06/29/19(Sat)14:31:53 No.468528354▶
Well then FUCK GAME FREAK
I wish pokemon was real because we wouldn't need women at all I'd just rape my gardevoir, Lopunny, and Delphox
You think I fear death officer? I welcome it.
that looks pretty bad
Great! And NOW do it for 900 mons!
This I would play for. Start with Gen 1 and work up.
Gentlemen... I give you Pokemon with FIRST PERSON SHOOTER COMBAT GAMEPLAY
Looks like it was shat out in a week, in Blender and Unity.
lmao fucking nobody uses status moves
they are when combat only lasts 3 turns tops
F
this man?
Hes talking about sitting there for 80 hours and cheesing the breeding system untill he has a pokemon that can't even be beaten by its hard counters.
I have no quarrels with an action rpg pokemon game
fuck turn based combat
why reduce the enemies accuracy when they can just switch pokemon and get rid of it.
>implying I play multiplayer pokémon
Man if only Pokemon was a billion dollar franchise
people are so tired of the basic gameplay of pokemon they're willing to settle for anything else
it's too bad the braindamaged cashcows keeping pokemon afloat prefer playing the same game they've played since 1992, but hey, i guess the world always needs games for retards as well as normal people
yeah there is no way they would be able to do this with all the models already made and with literal tens of billions of dollars because pokemon is the most profitable franchise ever
Shit, I remember this, that project was cancelled YEARS ago
The devs used the assets to make a RWBY game
youtube.com
IIRC they were huge genwunners who never played past R/B/Y, so they were only going to include Pokémon from the first two gens
I agree with you, Pokemon doesn't need real time battles, but since you asked for examples this is what I would try for an open world version: a dynamic turn based, à lá Chrono Trigger, so the battles could be more about timing. The "trainer" would have the feeling of giving orders in real time but in essence the game would still be turn based.
>billion dollar franchise
Do you guys actually think that the only thing that costs money are the games or what? Like merchandising, tcg, anime, movies and other shit are free? But oh man in the 90‘s pokemon sold like crazy and this one wikipedia page says they made more money than mickey mouse. Lazy ass motherfucker gamefreak have more money than disney.
>le hire man meme
>The only reason old games had turn based mechanics is because of hardware limitations.
how to spot a zoomer 101. action rpgs have been around since the '80s. turn-based has always been a stylistic choice and has never had anything to do with hardware limitations.
God I wish there was a pokemon MMO that worked like this.
There's just so much damn potential in it and you only need to make it once and it'll blow up like WoW did back in the day
Biggest spastic in the thread
>DELETE THIS IT'S TOO DIFFERENT, GAME FREAK NEEDS TO MAKE THE SAME GAME OVER AND OVER AND IT WILL BE GOOD STOP BEING ANTI-SHILLS YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES I ALREADY PREORDERED SWORD AND SHIELD!
>There were action RPGs and turn-based RPGs on the SNES
pokemon wasnt on the SNES
if you didnt come here every day you probably wouldnt have to see it
Why ARE you here, user?
I think even the gb had a cople though
I like how digimon games already had decent battle systems forever ago but pokemon is still lagging behind. Pokemon suffers from an overly simplistic battle system, way way too many pokemon, and a shit breeding/leveling system that makes no sense in a monster game. Pokemon happened to come out at just the right time with the right target demographic and GF has just been coasting ever since, if you deleted the first gen games from the timeline pokemon would have never caught on.
Unironically what I want.
>so they were only going to include Pokémon from the first two gens
Why would you include more? It's all trash after gen 2 and even gen 2 was mostly filler.
>Pokemon looks like hot garbage because it's a stylish choice!
Stop it Joe
>but pokemon just isn't suited for real time battles
Why ?
The vast majority of battles in the serie are 1vs1, and usually they happen on land. Every Pokemon has 4 moves top. What exactly makes the Pokemon serie in particular so unsuited for real-time combat ? Sure OP's webm looks like shit but it's more a proof of concept than anything.
>"real-time combat won't work!"
Pokepark did it and it worked
what? i'm talking about combat systems, not how the games look. if pokemon had action-based combat instead, it would still look like an n64 game as long as game freak is in charge.
meanwhile, if you look at other turn-based jrpgs: persona 5 is incredibly sleek and stylish. cyber sleuth and hacker's memory's battles are like pokemon battle revolution on steroids in terms of animations. even dragon quest looks like a modern game from the current generation.
dude, you have NO IDEA how much I want this
like, I just don't get it, how come there still has yet to be an action RPG pokemon game with third person controls like that?
like what the fuck are they doing?
no actually I know and understand pokemon is still racking in money and they don't need to touch anything or spend anymore money than necessary, don't answer me
Pokemon with DQXI combat would be great. Turn-based with positioning to make it more visually interesting.
better yet, make it like kiseki's combat, where positioning actually matters for more than just visual interest.
>Why can't they just literally re-create the entire battle system and chuck the entirety of what's there out the window?
I mean sure, Naughty Dog could also completely re-make Uncharted as a turn-based RPG
well that's the thing, THEY could, because they're not hacks
GF on the other hand...
You missed the point
Sure, we could have real-time ARPG Pokemon, in the same sense that any game could be re-made in any other genre with new systems and mechanics if we think about it hard enough. But it would effectively just be a completely new game, nothing from the turn-based combat is going to carry over well and at that point, it may as well just be a new game.
The turn-based games have tons of depth, I have no idea why you would want to remove it for some flashy real-time combat with significantly less depth.
>The turn-based games have tons of depth
But they don't, they're brain dead even at the most autistic level of play.
no, because turn based isn't interesting in any way shape or form, it's only a lazy and cheap alternative and allow devs to make a game toddlers are capable of playing without issues
turn based is obsolete and inferior, but valued because of the nostalgia appeal and for how cheap it is to use
nothing to do with anything else
Could Ash defeat him? Assume that Armstrong is honorbound to fight through his pokemon before crushing Ash like a twig
Turn based is fine if there's at least some level of tactics or strategy to it like in more complex war games. Turn based RPG's where you have 4 moves are just sad however.
>No argument, just buzzwords
lol okay
>if I don't like it it's not an argument
lol okay
FIRE THIS MAN
>literally Medabots RPG
I don't have to make an argument, your opening statement was "The turn-based games have tons of depth" it's your job as the affirmative to support that buddy otherwise I can just say "no they don't."
