Will you buy either the Switch Mini or Switch Pro?

well yes, but no

Switch Pro

Why would I buy an underpowered gimmick tablet Fischer price consoles?

Switch mini for deployments to replace my vita.

will there be a non portable version? i dont give a shit about portable gimmick

Already have a switch so I don't need another one, no

is that a d pad for ants?

Heavily depends on how much they revise the hardware.

The original Switch already has problems with heat distribution and warping. Putting that same chipset into an EVEN TINIER package is only going to cause more problems where that's concerned.
If they can solve that, then hell yes, best handheld ever

worse, asians

Switch Pro if it improves performance for all games across the board. Otherwise, neither.

Of course the pro, what would I even need the mini for? Smaller screen? Shitty battery? Playing video games in public? The inevitable superior version is the only thing that keeps me from buying the switch right now

Nincels need to be put to sleep

>The original Switch already has problems with heat distribution and warping.
Source on how widespread these problems are? I've literally only heard of it briefly on here

I have a Switch and it was a gift from a friend (no, he didn't fuck me or my girlfriend... assuming I have one). I'm not interested in Mini, but if Pro is real... I guess I'll have to wait and see how different / upgraded it is. If it's anything like 3DS - New 3DS, no.

Something I don't understand are these fan made renders that show the Switch Mini revision with no detachable joy cons.

The entire conceptual point of the Switch is its multiple play features. That's what it has been marketed as since its reveal. Even the Switch logo is indicative of this fact. You know, the *click*. Why do people think they will remove the essence of the Switch--its adaptability and various functionalities in the revision? Not to mention all the wagglan centric games that will lose compatibility with the Switch Mini if they do makw it strictly portable.

The 2DS exists. The Wii Mini exists. Nintendo isn't averse to removing features of a console to sell a cheaper version of that console.
And there aren't a lot of games that *require* joycons be separated for operation. 1 2 Switch and...Just Dance, maybe? I can't think of any more.

>circle pad
I’m sold

The 2DS wasn't still called a '3DS' while missing the 3D feature. Imagine they call it the 'Switch Mini', yet it is incapable of allowing you to switch your playstyle. And I would argue that the hybrid concept is more substantial to essence of what the Switch is than what 3D was for the 3DS. In fact, I would liken an unswitchable Switch to a 3DS with only one screen and no touch controls. That's how essential the concept is to the Switch, in my opinion.

But you may be right and they just say to hell with the foundation of what the Swirch is and shit out a tiny handheld.

Rumor mill - "As for what improvements the Pro will offer over the existing machine, an improved Tegra X1 should mean better power efficiency and less energy consumption, which should mean better battery life. Those expecting a massive leap in performance between this model and the existing Switch may be disappointed; even a comparison with the 3DS / New 3DS might be off the mark, as Digital Foundry believe that the 'Pro' revision is more about making the chip more efficient and not about boosting power, as we've seen with the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro."

ask me again when they actually announce it

If I can hack switch mini and it costs less then yes. Will be my vita 2.0

Switch Mini

Neither. So glad i didn't fall for this meme.

Pro but I don't believe they'll make one. Mini is believable.

When is the Switch Pro coming out?

Why do I feel that Switch Pro buyers will be bamboozled with another Switch Pro Plus after the new Xbox and Playstations come out next year?

neither. I use both portable and docked so neither appeal to me for that. mini is pointless since the regular switch is already portable and pro will be pointless just like how few games made use of the new 3ds hardware.

You could make the argument that the Switch's name comes from its ability to "Switch" between being a handheld and a home console, and a Switch Mini wouldn't necessarily hinder that in any way.
You *could* argue that the joycons are an integral part of the Switch's identity, but also, you could remove them entirely and miss out on almost nothing.
Hell, since I bought a Pro controller, I haven't removed the joycons from my Switch in MONTHS. If they came out with a Switch Mini that didn't have removable joycons but *did* still connect to a dock, my gameplay habits wouldn't be affected in the slightest

Pro depending on how "pro" it is and price

If the launch price for the Switch Mini is under $200 new, I'll probably get a used one in a couple years. But I can't see myself paying more for it than I did for my Vita.

Switch pro probably but whats the point in a switch mini? It barely runs some games as it is now.

Why should I buy a patched unit when my hacked switch allows me to play anything I want?

Switch Pro to play Bayonetta 3 on 4K 60fps

Well, it's disingenuous to suggest that no one prefers detachable joy cons. They're incredibly convenient when detached, allowing you to play in relaxed/comfortable positions. Not to mention the whole "sharing the joy" and local split screen concept they hammered into everyone's head since the start of it all.

If they release a revision without detachable joycons while still calling it "Switch" Mini (implying you can Switch playstyles) and it still allows you to dock it for TV play, then it would have to come bundled with a Pro Controller or separate Joy Cons to allow the full breadth of the Switch's funtionality to be accesible right out of the box. But if that were to be the case, then it would ruin their goal to make it more affordable since it could increase the price by 70 - 80$. Even if it wasn't bundled, you're asking consumers to either buy a Pro Controller or Joy Cons (or some third party controller) to be able to also play docked, since there would be no way to out of the box. And in that case, what's the point? It's more of hassle and it wouldn't be more affordable.

You're asking someone to buy a Switch with less functionality, perhaps a smaller screen, and perhaps a worse battery life, and if they want to enjoy docked functionality as well, they'll have to fork over enough for a dock and controller (if not included originally) which amounts to the price of a regular Switch, which has far more benefits as far as everything is concerned.

if they release a switch that's as comfy as the vita slim that's pretty fucking based

Right now in Japan you can buy a Switch bundle that excludes the dock, so it's just the tablet and joycons. I could see Nintendo doing something similar with the Mini, one 'pure handheld' package where you just get the system on its own and another costlier one where you also get the dock and either some joycons or a pro controller, if we assume the hypothetical Mini isn't going to use some mini joycon variant.

Neither, because they are not real.

i never knew i'd miss 3ds's circle pad until i've tried to play smash ult in portable mode.

Can't buy something that doesn't exist.

I think if they could shrink the form factor while still retaining detachable joy cons, that would be the most ideal way to go about a revision. But the joys cons are already small as they are, and I can't imagine how they can shrink the form facto without compromising the joy con's current size. They'll probably just sell a small, joy con less Switch with a dock and some cheap third party wired controller if that user really wants to have both options.

There's also the fact that shrinking the joycons will break compatibility with current ones and I doubt Nintendo has much interest in maintaining two different versions of the things. So odds are a significantly physically smaller revision is just going to ditch them outright.

Imagine buying a switch mini and having to buy a new one after few month because the sticks start drifting and cant be detached. Nintendo is literally the new apple

No because I already regret buying a Switch in the first place, shit platform with no games

Yeah true. I'm curious to see what they do. Not long now before they announce it.

My solution would be putting charging rails for them on the Mini's dock, like some third party joycon chargers. So you can technically support them without need for third party devices for the three avid Arms players out there.

Neither since they won't exist.

how the hell are you supposed to play 1-2 switch on it?

Not with the Switches rampant controller stick drift problem.
