It's a cultural thing, the journey matters more than the destination for them

I read a lot of manga and play a lot of video games but I rarely ever read manga based off of games or play games based off of manga. From what I can tell they're mostly just incomplete advertisements or half-assed efforts to cash in on the other's popularity. But I'm open to recommendations if there are exceptions.
