Haseo's pretty great actually. It's a fairly standard character arc, but watching him grow the fuck up is still pretty satisfying.

It's different in that it has a totally different atmosphere compared to IMOQ. IMOQ felt like an mmo whereas GU feels more like a single player game with online features. Both are great series but its a mix bag weather you prefer IMOQ or GU. The gameplay is a lot faster and a lot better in some areas too.

Haseo gets a whole lot better and mellows out by part 2, that's basically his character development. He just happens to look edgy because that's just how his class is suppose to look.

Adapt rouge, they can use any weapon. Sort of like the jack-of-all trade classes in rpg's/mmo's, can use everything but can't be perfect at it.

A multiclass that's actually very shitty on the MMO meta also the only other Adept Rouge is an asshole who refuses to use his other class so he just uses a single weapon. Don't even remember if he even bothered unlocking his 3rd form.

Makes kinda sense on how people suck his dick since he was already a celebrity in game when you start playing (after a small flashback )

IMOQ didn't have a multiclass. Kite's the most broken of Twinblades because he's almost as good at magic as some of the Wavemasters.

I say they didn't do it often enough. Also since I never played the Remaster, I was still made 4th Form Skeith is only used for the Cubia fight.

For .hacks case, you really did. The series, while not as big as Final Fantasy or other jrpgs, still had a pretty sizable cult following. From the anime, manga, games, that juicy lore, and don't even get me started on soundtrack to the series. Shit was beautiful. There were even loads of .hack fan sites and forums trying to emulate the series, .hack was really some else at the time.

It wasn't until 2007-2008 you could really start to see the series going down the drain and the fans just sort of went with it. After GU part 3, Bandai US just stop localizing anything .hack related and if they did release something, they wouldn't bother to dub it.

To be fair I really don't think .Hack's premise really could be extended ala the Gundam formula.

I'd at least have preferred a low-key interlude series of microcosms of The World rather than having a sequence of actual world-ending scenarios pop up out of an online videogame.

I love the small things in The World, like the dreamscapelike feeling (a bit like yume nikki or LSD emulator mixed with fantasy).
Also the Tarot cards.
And the veiled Grail Quest references. And the German mythos references.

The gameplay of the originals is pretty awful. Luckily GU streamlined most of it with shortcuts for skills and situationals.

Is Last Recode as easy as people say it is? I heard they made the game braindead easy and while I own the PS2 games, it'd be nice to have it in one place + Vol 4 looks neat.

Here's the thing. I actually kind of like that.

I like that the world is a rather low quality, easy to exploit mess filled with dead end areas and only gets difficult when you're trying to do things that were never intended by or hidden by the in-universe programmers for being broken.

Where it immediately goes from "Two level 2 special attacks dropping any nonboss" to "Literally impossible to defeat without hacking the game". Seriously reminds me of that year I spent trying to play Dark Eden.

Yes. It's very easy to over level and then wipe everything out in one hit. You literally have to gimp yourself and run away from mobs. If you have the game on PC, there's a difficulty mod that fixes the problem.

Watched .hack when it released and I have the Japanese versions of the original games in storage. Just bought //GU on sale, but never followed that portion so will be a ride. But at the moment am playing Hollowed Realization simply because I can make my own character, which is a huge selling point for me in the psudo mmo-single player genre.

I really liked it. I liked it alot more after I actually watched Roots. Would strongly reccomend it, just because the game picks up right after it, and it makes Haseo's character a lot more bearable.
