Use Cortex castle as midair u turn practice. It gives you plenty of ramps to practice the input. Then practice it in Papu's up those 90 degree left turns.

I think it probably has an issue to do with the customization feature and using multiple characters. I only used Crash to complete every Oxide ghost including Retro Track and the bug didn't happen to me but I did notice that my ghosts were sometimes loading incorrect kart customization or not loading them at all and just reverting to default. This only started happening around my 15th or 16th track.

I feel like you guys should know that "saving up" for the trophy girls isn't going to work out for you. You're going to need to open their slots by clearing out some things, like everything else. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Will the Trophy Girls ever show up in the inevitably PS5 Crash Bandicoot games? It just feels like a waste that they'll just disappear from the series again just like that. I mean we know Tawna is sticking around this time (after being politically corrected) because she's the main hero's potential love interest, but the Trophy Girls in future games? Their future is honestly kind of bleak by comparison.

The game gives you a tutorial with a voiceover and video example.
Sure you could technically play the game without boosting but you'll just get a slow racing game and that's no fun.
If you're genuinely new to the game, don't worry about getting perfect boosting and focus more on boosting in general while maintaining control of your kart.
When the smoke on your kart exhaust turns black, the nitro wheels start to glow, or the boost meter gets into the red, you can activate a boost. You get better boosts the more full it is but that's not your current priority, get a handle on the timing before jumping up a difficulty. You also get boosts from jumping off high places, more hangtime gives you a bigger burst of speed when you land.
Also don't be afraid of tapping the brakes if you can't keep control over your speed. A brakeslide is really important for navigating tricky hairpin turns until you get a grasp on the more-advanced mechanics.

I really don't get the AI in this game. The lead AI racer always finishes 10-15 second ahead of the rest of the pack. They always have missiles for if you catch them, and they always shoot you just as you are about to reach a jump so that you fall.

The sad thing is that CNK could go "fast" when it wanted to but anti-grav was so badly coded that it robbed you of all speed and your base speed was slow to begin with.
Add on top of this that the reserve system didn't exist at all so you had to perpetually be powersliding in order to maintain any level of speed at all.
The sound design was utter shit too. I've played games with royalty-free SFX that had better sound design principles.

Tiny's the best one. That gladiator boss fight in 3 really elevated him for me.

I've never touched a Crash game until this week. Bought this and the N. Sane Trilogy because of all the hype, and yearning for a classic platformer experience from the good old days. Now I've cleared the first three games and just need to get a handle on boosting. I don't think I'll be able to go back to Mario Kart after this, though.

Biggest problem with Crunch is just that he never had anything unique going for him. Crash and Coco had their own quirks; Crunch was just "Crash but bigger and brute-dumb instead of innocent goofball-dumb". Even the boss fights against him in Wrath leaned on a third party doing all the interesting shit. He's a dull character and nothing has redeemed him yet.

Koala Kong got characterization in Crash Bash of all games, notably in the Japanese epilogue it talks about his return to Hollywood stardom which definitely separates him from Tiny's dumb loyalty. Try to get perfect boosts instead of good boost, and generally boost more. That way you can keep the speed from turbo pads.

You still get coins for not finishing, it just doesn’t show them for some reason. Check the Pit Stop after you don’t finish, your coins will have gone up still.

user was lying, you don't need to jump and begin a new drift after each boost. You can boost up to 3 times in every single drift.
If you need somewhere safe to practice, coco park is wide and has enough space for you to powerslide to your heart's content while trying to still go in the general "forward" direction if you countersteer while drifting.

If you don't already know the shortcuts, hard mode will fuck you. No shame in starting a medium or classic adventure and learn to get better at boosting. Relic races and CTR challenge will teach you most of the shortcuts anyway.

You're hopping and pushing left/right too early making you turn mid air instead of entering a powerslide (I do this all the time too sometimes), you could also practice going around the map just powersliding without turboing getting as close to the walls as possible, then bring in turboing, as it seems you're rushing your turbos and not holding out slides enough to go around corners. Ideally you want to be sliding in the direction of the map and as close to walls as possible, to beat oxide ghosts at least anyway. I win majority of my games online because people don't take the shortest path possible. Your sliding in the water sections is decent it's just the other bits you could get tighter by relaxing a bit. Keep at it user you show promise.

You also got too close to the AI's asshole and ate a beaker. Can't offer any advice to avoid getting cucked by the clock though, that was just bad luck.

CNK had certain "problems" with how you control your character. I don't know how explain it. You can boost, but if you don't do the boosts almost perfect, your speed barely increases. When you finally reach top speed and beyond it's hard to mantaint it, your jumps are really clumsy, sometimes you just jump or turn and all your speed is gone, sometimes you hit a pebble or an invisible wall on the road and it feels like if your kart transforms into a tank.

Literal retard. If you are going USF, orbs can't even reach you. On top of that the only way you would get spammed by clocks is if someone was trolling purposefully which is exceedingly rare. However, given that you are literally braindead here is a game that is more your speed.

This probably heavily depends on where you are. The game seems to strongly favor people close to you. I'll have lobbies full of people with names in my local language, and this isn't a big country

That's entirely because the reserve system didn't exist in CNK, which meant there was virtually no way whatsoever to maintain your speed if you weren't literally constantly boosting, which couldn't be done because, as you said,
