Why is this god awful shit considered to be one of the best in the series?
Why is this god awful shit considered to be one of the best in the series?
Because the series is 95% shit games.
5 is better in literally every way
babbys first Resident Evil
Old game bad
Because it is you retarded zoomer
Perfect pacing.
Right place at the right time. It influenced all TPS to adopt over the shoulder camera systems so on that alone it is hard to argue its rightful place as one of the most influential games. I wish not literally every single TPS adopted that camera system though.
This. Shinji Mikami or one of his guys had an idea for a third person shooter camera. They used it, invented a genre, and that's about it. It also helps that they didn't really fuck up any part of RE4 either
cause Leon is cute!
brainlet detected
Leon is fucking hot but the setting of that game is fucking trash, RE2/3 for life.
At least RE2, REmake and REmake 2 exist.
I am so sick of these falseflags.
It falls apart after peaking with the Del Lago. But before that was fucking great, Del Lago being specially awesome, holy shit I still get chills just by thinking about it
It's basically the Ocarina of Time of its generation in terms of influence. Everything from Gears of War to Uncharted owes a lot to it.
Anyone else find it weird though that literally after RE4 did it, everything after had become known as "generic TPS"? It didn't even leave a great legacy, everyone complains about those games.
This.
It might be a good game but it's not a good RE game
Because RE4 had a balance and pacing that's hard to replicate.
Cause youre an underaged shit that didnt experience it when it came out
>good game
>4th RE game
>good RE game
5 was when the series died, nice bait tho
In terms of RE it can be argued that it is awful, but in terms of third person action shooting games it's one of the finest ever made, if not the finest.
I did experience it when it came out and it was shit. RE up intil RE4 was not about fighting through hordes of zombies. Pretty sure you're the zoomer here.
Low standards
and that most of the series is pure garbage in itself
RE prior to 4 was about exiting stuff like: 1) backtracking 2) not being able to carry anything 3) difficulty due to tank controls and wonky hitboxes 4) slow deaths by attrition
RE4 is all about situational awareness, negotiating the risks that come with aiming (especially since RE4 had TONS of insta-kill enemies), vulnerability was a gameplay mechanic in that you could choose it
The thing is, you had to fucking be there in the lead up to launch as an RE fan. It was a BIZZARE fucking time. We were getting this thing that all the magazines were in fucking awe of that sounded completely alien to the universe and no one was actually giving us straight answers. We were shown photos of the village and villagers but we didn't know what caused it and it was clear they weren't what we were used to. Magazines were talking about how these villagers "planned out attacks" and "reeled in pain when shot but kept pushing fowards anyway". That one of them wore a potato sack on his head and carried a fucking chainsaw and that they had never played a video game like this ever in their lives. And thats all we fucking got until t came out. It was a very VERY weird time to be an RE fan. We had no fucking idea. About anything. What was wrong with these villagers, or how it would all play out.
>difficulty due to tank controls and wonky hitboxes
I cant believe this meme is still going. Not difficult.
Except if you actually played 1-3 and Remake, you'd know you're wrong. 2 remake is also leagues better than 4, and it's not even better than OG 2.
Easiest way to explain it is this; there's no thought required in RE4. It's literally walk forward, the game. I goddamn love 4, but it's empty as shit and just a linear thoughtless romp. For example, OG 2 feels like a more fulfilling game and 2 Remake does 4's combat in a way that actually works with RE.
Not to mention that it was an incredible-looking game for the time, and a (timed) GC exclusive that ended up being downgraded not just in the PS2 but also the PC version.
People still shit on Mega Man Legends for "tank controls" when it's not even true tank controls.
Cold Fear was the better game by miles, yet few people even played it.
I was more hyped for the 3.5 version
Leon would be dead if that version came out, or at least I think he was going to die in that version of the game.
God no.
can't agree, this game is near flawless in my opinion.
Del Lago is ass and easily the worst part of the game
Because normalfags.
i want a jacket like that
5's story was slightly shittier than 4 and the co-op ai was absolute dogshit, but 5 beats the shit out of 4 in every other department
Boomer here, I haven't played a Resident Evil game since 1998 when 2 came out. What RE games should I play, and in what order?
