People have been using that as the excuse for the shitty animations for a while. They also futureproofed the models, which is why they lag like shit on the 3DS.

The series had to keep evolving by having new pokemon to capture, but if that was the case they should have never let you transfer your old mons over. Starting with Gen 3 you couldn't transfer any gen 1 or 2 mons over, that should have set the precedent but then they made the fucking remakes and completely undermined their own goals.

My problem is not with the fact that they're removing pokemon. It kind of had to happen at some points. Many other game series have to eventually cut some content, for example fighting game sequels often cut content (and then bring them back later). The problem is that Galar does not offer anything of interest whatsoever. You can remove content and still make the sequel appealing by adding other content. What does SS offer that I can't get from SM?

The new content in SS isn't all that interesting; it's unlikely that there'll be as many new pokemon as there are missing pokemon, the Wild Area is functionally just another way of encountering pokemon and isn't really impressive visually because the game overall looks pretty poor graphic-wise, and I couldn't give less of a fuck about turning my pokemon gigantic. Masuda doesn't HAVE to tell us that we're going to be able to use every pokemon, but he has to give us SOMETHING that actually makes us want to buy the new pokemon game. Previously, if a new pokemon game didn't have anything interesting going on, you could at least think "Well I can still use all my old pokemon so content-wise it's essentially the same the previous game + more stuff", but now SS doesn't have that, so it needs some considerable content to make up for it.

I skipped XY and (U)SM, no reason why I wouldn't skip this. Omega Ruby was a huge waste of my money, the game is dramatically inferior to Emerald in every way. I only bought it because Emerald was such a fucking high-quality game, and that only made it worse when I realized the differences between them.

Literally whenever I get the itch to play Pokemon again, I just go play Emerald. Or like, whatever new romhack just came out with a good reputation. This time instead the pokemon are not there, even using cheats or other emtods like gitches you will neve be able to use them, because the code for other pokemons is noth there at all and GF ill neve patch them in. If a pokemon isn't in the Sword/Shield dex, they're flat out not programmed into the game at all. You can't even get them in through hacking. It's the fact that you can't transfer over specific pokemon at all that people are pissed about.

I agree with you, but the argument is that you can just transfer your "bros" in after you beat the game and at least the data is still there. Since I usually just try to play through the games with whatever I can catch on the cartridge, this all makes literally no difference for me.

However, the games looks like shit. It's lazily made. Animations got worse instead of better. The environments look terrible. They're still making several models for the same characters in different areas because they can't program a game for shit. Pretending that you chopped down the full dex for quality's sake is fucking bullshit because everything about the game still looks awful. Cutting Pokemon is fine in my book as an option, but lying about how hard you're working, or genuinely admitting you put a lot of effort into putting out such a bad product, and that cutting Pokemon is a result of that? This is precisely why I hate Megas and Z moves from the next generation. Putting aside the fact that they have to incorporate some inane process to bring over the necessary items to utilize those features, how they apply them and who they give it to is completely random and be completely game changing. They're both features that apply to a very select number of Pokemon chosen almost completely at random rather than being something that can be applied across all Pokemon like new types, new moves, or some other mechanic/gimmick.

How hard is it to just bring back day/night and seasons/weather first and just keep it in every generation? Literally biggest fucking media franchise and they still haven't done it.
