Yes, I started in March and I'm completely caught up and done pretty much all dungeons and raids very easily. Catching up is very easy in this game

There's a bunch of mitigation possible, but it takes a bit to kick in, especially depending on what sort of attack it is. You want to be careful to not fuck over legit customers too.

Black mage is way better with the added two seconds to Umbral fire and ice plus at level 72 you can use ice spells when you are at 0 mp so AoE is easy.

Depends on the scale. The bigger the ddos, the more stuff you need to get blocked upstream, and that takes time.

You can only really react to them, as you don't really know where the ddos is going to come from or the type of traffic that it's gonna be.

You are never too late because old content is not invaldated by the new expansion. Level sync exists and there are systems in place to ensure people at level cap still queue for leveling content and previous expansion raids. The only "dead" content is relic grind content like Diadem (which will be brought back) and Eureka. The forced Main Scenario Quests that force you to play the story of each expansion before reaching the next means that you will actually have a chance to experience all the previous content instead of leaving it behind AND people will gladly party up with you to do it.

You lose Aero III but in return Holy has its mana cost halved and cast time reduced. You can now Holy spam much longer and quicker and now your new, reliable instant cast heals mean that you can immediately heal after a Holy when necessary instead of cutting a holy short because it will take 5 seconds get off your next heal (3 seconds for Holy, 2.5 for Cure II). Also, Shadowbringers dungeons pile the damage in much quicker than previous dungeons so you'll actually have to balance heals and damage together.

You could at least do other stuff in game during Rabauhn EX. There was several Fate Trains going on in the Fringes and Peaks and helped get people leveled so they could run through MSQ faster while they waited for the duties to be less congested, now you can't even play the damn game.
