Weird, I did the exact same thing.
I was enjoying it if I remember correctly, but then I just never got to the end somehow. I'll go back to it at some point but now it has been too long and I can't remember what was going on in the story.

At this point, I'm just waiting for the next arc and hoping it'll wash the stench of Cold Steel from the Trails series. I'll probably still play CS3 and CS4, if only to get some screenshots for shitposting and complaining about their downfalls as games.

You just know in your heart that Rean and his harem will show up in Calvard and automatically bring the shittiness of Cold Steel with them.

I don't think having some recurring characters will all that bad, but I do hope the writing for the new cast will be better and more sensible than what we got in Cold Steel and Crossbell to an extent.

I started it again for a second time. The first time I stopped playing right as I finished the prologue, I just kinda lost interest.
However, this time around I'm playing with a controller and figured out how to speed the game up to skip the tedious bits. Much better this time around and I hope I finish it.

The story and world are pretty great if you have the patience to tolerate a slow battle system and plot that's more focused on low stakes slice of life moment rather than riveting stories of saving the world or killing god monsters.

It was actually the first game I bought in years, and the most recent game I bought.
Can't really say it was worth it though...
I bought it just so I could deal with patches and shit easier, but then the patches never even really worked, game wouldn't run if I used the new version. So it was back to the pirate's life for me

I played the first one and didn't care for it. People claim the series has good worldbuilding, but the setting was pretty bland and forgettable.

no don't, i played from FC to SC2 including Zero and Ao only to regret every minute of it, the worldbuilding/lore should promise but there is NO real pay off it ONLY get more generic shonen grarbage with each game release. Avoid Trails, Avoid FALCOM.

His Crossbell defense plan was amazing, but the powers involved were too much.
