Yeah, the multiplayer caught a lot of flak because of the singleplayer, which is a shame because it's the best multiplayer in the series.
Singleplayer deserved all the hate it got. Deserved even more, maybe.

ACI coop was nice once you'd played long enough. Early on it was awful since everyone was desperate for credits since there was so much to buy, but once you got good planes and people stopped taking it so seriously it was good.
AH is the only game where they even tried to make pvp work, though, you're correct there.
