Is Dwarf Fortress the hardest game to get into?
Dwarf Fortress
nah, Aurora 4x is probably harder to get into.
HEY
HEY
PEOPLE
fortnite is the hardest
No
Aurora is harder because despite being massive autists they can't even maintain a wiki.
Not even remotely, play a complex wargame and then we'll talk.
No. People just meme it up to hell and back and people who never played it believe it and spread it further.
What complex wargame?
Not that guy, but he probably means grand strategy?
Europa Universalis
Hearts of Iron
Crusader Kings
Country management games.
nah, Aurora is much more math intensive than DF. I never needed an excel spreadsheet filled with formulas to math out things in DF. I cant play Aurora without an excel spreadsheet to calculate things.
Literally the only conplex thing in dwarf fort is learning the obtuse controls and trying to reason why the dude couldn't make a UI after 15 years
>learning the obtuse controls
i still don't understand what's obtuse about a keyboard shortcut for everything and all the shortcuts prominently displayed
CMANO
>keyboard controls for everything
Definition of fucking obtuse m8
I haven't played it in a while but it's not really that difficult, you just have to learn the hotkeys and follow a beginner tutorial on the wiki. You can close yourself off from he world and live indefinitely pretty easily if you want, it's as hard as you make it.
dorf is easy, at least fort mode...
I have a hard fucking time to get into actual rogue likes
its , mice existed for decades now and with touchscreen technology keyboards are going the way of the dodo, like all other archaic technologies.
only hard because of the UI
this, people just see a game with non traditional visuals and assume it's the most complicated thing ever created
typical of retard normies i guess
notice how when people refer to controls on pc they say KEYBOARD AND MOUSE not KEYBOARD
>b is build
wtf this is impossible to remember
no, I think he means something like War in the East
Paradox games are as easy as it gets
>da UI
the UI is excellent EXCEPT FOR a few things like the military screen
Post forts
>Crusader kings harder than df
Lol i played all these titles but i never menaged to get past the world gen in df
good thing every lazynewbpack gives you mouse control plus numerous tools for copypasting designation and building layouts
>"why yes we are adding tranny dwarves!"
imagine still playing this shit after that fiasco
> fiasco
literally no ACTUAL dorf fan gives a single shit, retard
>COMPLEX MECHANIC GOOD
>FUN GAME BAD
This is how everybody look at you
>that guy that lists Paradox games
That shit is not hard either, try to play stuff like War in the East without learning all the stuff in the manual.
It isn't hard if you put a graphic mod on, but it isn't fun either. It's all simulation and not really a videogame.
I'd rather play a game which is intended for enjoyment
>6 hours into another round of fort mode
"this is the best game ever"
>2 days into fort mode and getting 25 FPS despite best efforts
"fuck this"
every single time
military engagements are fun
disasters are fun
It usually takes a week for me. Do you own a toaster?
set a pop limit before you start, or just kill all your children
>actual dorf fan
enjoy your tranny shit then
Ok, Yea Forums. Either you give me (You) or you are gettin
Nah Aurora and Dominions took me longer to understand
I was going to get into dominions because of how complicated it looked, then I played it for a bit and realized it's just glorified risk
my pop limit is 90, 10 of which can be children
All games where interface has no tooltips will be hard to get into.
Rimworld with mods is potentially way more complex and difficult than DF,DF isn't even that great of a roguelike either thanks to the slow development times.
Hearts of Iron isn't even hard. thats entry level
>Paradox games
>Hard
wew
To me it's more like HOMM3 meets 4x. Other than map painting I'm not sure how it's like risk especially when single units can wipe out entire armies
And what's your livestock.
people mistake "dry simulation" with hard
HoI 3 isn't hard but it caters to a specific taste and comes off as boring/hard to get into if you don't like concept
Yes I'll happily enjoy exterminating tranny dorfs in increasingly convoluted ways
EUIV assaults your eyes with DLC options it gained over the years, but otherwise it's piss easy.
>with mods
Literally anything can be made more complex with mods.
Factorio with Bobs+Angels is ludicrously complex. (in a way I don't personally like as I see it as complexity for complexity sake when it's really not needed, but if people like it good for them)
Also map painting is more about gaining resources and reducing the power of mid to late game threats. The real goal is capturing thrones. If Alpha Centuari and Gala Civ can be reduced to glorified risk to some people I guess Dom can as well
>using a tileset
Why do you remove the unique aesthetics of the game? The tiny sprite art is painful to look at. It's really not hard to get used to ascii.
>The tiny sprite art is painful to look at. It's really not hard to get used to ascii.
I have no idea, back when I was a kid I was fine with it, now I can't stand it and it gives me headaches looking at it.
40ish
I know, that's what I said.
this, DF actually has a decent learning curve despite the memes
aurora
4
x.
nuff said
yeah, as soon as you get therapist to manage all those miniature shitholes the whole process becomes much easier
>"Why would I want to be able to tell what something is by looking at it?"
Leauge of Legends/Dota 2 is way harder to 'get into' than Dwarf Fortress
Billy Mason here
objectively untrue considering how normie-tier the entire genre is
