It requires you not saving the kids or glitching the game by doing a quest that's part of that quest line out of order, to my understanding, sacrificing the kids for the sake of one person, which you can't truely anticipate what will happen to, doesn't seem right, I would have rather fought the witches to protect her after, which sadly isn't a thing, but if you don't save the kids, they don't cure her, so she can be saved, and the baron tries to make up for what he did by taking her wife up the mountain to some one who might be able to fix his wife's sanity. The daughter still stays with the witch hunters as far as I know, tho.
