Someone explain to me how Oblivion runs even worse than Skyrim. I can slap a hideous ENB and multiple graphical mods onto skyrim sooner than I can play oblivion with high settings. Even the fucking civil war battleground mods in skyrim ran better than most of vanilla oblivion for me
Because while Skyrim came out 5 years later, they were still both developed for the same console generation with the same limitations. Skyrim is just more optimized than Oblivion (relatively speaking, it's still a fucking bethesda game after all)

Many reasons. The game runs on a single core on a single thread so newer processors don't really have good computing power to account for using so little resources so the game lags. The game also chokes because every time it renders something it's rendering multiple instances of objects rather one gigantic instance to cover larger areas. That's why LODs tank the game. Facegen data has a hand in fucking up the game since it's forced to render lots of unique heads for multiple npcs on screen. While we're on npcs, their AI packages are simply too complex to let run in the open so it so the game struggles. Their AI was actually a lot more complex before they committed to porting to consoles, so imagine how much more performance would struggle. I hope I didn't get things wrong and maybe someone else can correct me but that's generally what I can recall for now.

I really wish Bethesda expanded on Oblivion's NPC scripting in skyrim. Sure, it had its flaws, but it was something that could've been ironed out and improved. Instead they just dialed it back and simplified it to "X NPC is at his store during the day and his house at night"

Is there an in-universe explanation for Argonians that are just human-shaped with tails and lizard faces instead of them being like they were in Morrowind? Are they similar to the Khajiit in that they have different forms they can be born as based on certain influences?
