Is there a way to get a fire bar on a stack?

>previous thread

on a stack of enemies?
no
you can stack them on tracks by having a bunch drop off onto a single track from starting tracks

Online sucks... lag is so prevalent.

>Hey there! Name's Purple Toad. My parents weren't exactly the creative type.
I'm actually enjoying Story Mode much more than I expected. The levels are all better than actual mario games tend to have, which is weird.

Though I don't understand why disqualify win conditions (like no jumping) don't just kill you.

I love Mario! this game is great, gonna be playing a ton over the four day weekend

can someone please articulate why the mario 3 underground visuals are so comfy?

Attached: eqX0iDm.jpg (1280x720, 480K)

doubt it, since it's a block, but you could probably put it on a track, and then enemies (that don't walk off edges) on top of it. maybe put another stack on tracks below it to pretend it's a taller stack.

I never had a problem after 2 hours of online play. What 3rd world country do you live in?

It's going to take a lot of time to get used to the new UI with a controller

I love mario! This game is great! I am really enjoying it! Please buy the game Yea Forums! It is only 59.99$! It's a great deal! This is totally the best game ever made!

have you been playing co op online? a bunch of people say it's awful

Soon... it shall begin afresh.

Not him but I'm USA and have been having problems with almost every room I enter

Do flurry's have to have a platform to stand on? I know you cannot put one on a track, but can you put it on a block, on a track?

Play my course and i'll play yours
6JW-KB2-M1H

Attached: n.jpg (552x525, 33K)

It’s hit or miss for me. Only played about 6 matches and I would say 3 were great while the other 3 were playable stuttery as fuck.

Has anyone tested if the lag glitch is in the new game? Where you have a platform cram a bunch of POW blocks into a small space, causing the entire game to lag?

SMB Levels

#03 Ice Peak: SMB-L67-8QF
Jungle Fever: GV6-1QT-NRG

Only issue I have right now is that SMW twirl jump is assigned to a shoulder button instead of A.

how do i make a good course

B82-MSL-YQG play mine plz

I don't live in a third world country, I live in India

How do I learn to make levels that are challenging without being gimmicky?

Attached: 1533454564841.jpg (1280x720, 107K)

What's the problem with it? Choppy/slow or massive input delay?
Copy hasn't delivered yet.

Time and effort

play some kaizo romhacks
or watch good players play them

I tried.

DYB-0WM-DYF

ZZZZZZ

The hardest part's at the beginning, then the rest is a snooze.

>try to make regular Mario levels
>they're all boring and easy
how the fuck do they do it, bros?

Attached: 1555175639607.jpg (634x602, 90K)

>kaizo
He said without being gimmicky

Please tell me its just server overload, not they actually use fucking p2p connection
the online experience is extremely hit-or-miss to me. at least i dont play multi that much

not sure you know what that word means

Why is the netcode so fucking bad?
I have to pay $20 for this shit.

My entire plan was to go all in on the multiplayer, this is a disaster...

>it's an auto-level that doesn't even work consistently episode

Speaking of is there an actual no jumping wincon or just the no touching the ground after leaving it one

>Post my level on Yea Forums
>It starts to get plays regularly from randoms
Not sure how it works, but thanks anons

i just did a story mission with that and you're right, it's like curling up in a blanket but my eyeballs

I wish we had gotten the orange underground theme they showed off in the SMM direct footage. it looked super nice

>not having an ethernet adapter
user. Please.

Please try out my first level!

It's not 2020 yet, pajeet.

>Chain Chomp Chiller
Nintendo sure can make some difficult levels if they want to.

>no ice flower
Man why the fuck does Ice Mario get cucked in every game now, it's so fun. This is supposed to be the fucking end-all Mario creator and it doesn't even have some major power ups

Paying $20 for unplayable multiplayer.
Fucking scumbag nintendo.

They will add shit afterwards like they did in the first game.

>spending $60+$20 online for what is essentially DLC for the first game

Buy Dreams instead.

0PM-RG4-6CG

Tried going for a spooky theme

I'm not talented or imaginative enough for that. The lack of plays for my levels in SMM2 is proof of that.

How long is a penis level going to stay up?

i do have one, user. i play smash and splatoon too
which just make all this lag feel really weird. maybe the server is overloaded with literally thousands of stages being uploaded

no.

How do you do the camera cutoff thing again for when you don’t want the screen to scroll anymore?

interesting
tough at start but easy to cheese. good first level
fun
fun
couldve added more in the latter half

Then you should know playing with someone who doesn't have the adapter is still laggy.

How do I zoom/unzoom? Playing on handheld if that means anything

Fill the entire level with a row of blocks.

The game has a shitload of tutorials, and many are about actual level design philosophy. Sit through them. Nina is pretty decent waifu material, too.

Is there only one background for each theme? If not, how do I select it?

Also can I turn off the water on a forest level?

G-Guys, I bought the MM2 + online bundle, and now I have no idea where or how that gave me online services. I can't play online levels, ir asks me to buy membership.
Did Nintendo just take my twenty bucks and run?

Nice level design.

Ah, thanks man

dumb frogposter

you get a code somewhere

Never mind, I forgot I was using different emails between my nintendo account and my paypal.
Nintendo's not quite that blatant yet, it seems.

>fun
That's honestly more than enough praise for me, glad my first level could be enjoyable

Here’s my first: fairly short and nicely challenging. Each room is a mini-challenge where you have to either ascend or descend. Feedback appreciated
BL9-NQP-DYF

Where are the fucking Koopalings

>It's a "you can't leave the ground" level

Attached: Isleep.jpg (209x326, 20K)

Anyone know how to unlock the mii costume items?

I got one from story mode, and a couple from random activities in online (finish first course, like first course).
So probably a bunch of conditions.

story mode

>make levels too hard for me to clear myself
>give myself secret exits nobody else would trigger without a miraculous coincidence

My thumbs hurt from my stubbornness, but getting WRs feels so good

Lag in online is kinda shitty but it's goofy hilarious fun, reminds me I should get an ethernet adapter

What if you're offline? You can't even access your character customization, so do you still get unlocks?

Those thighs.

Do coins in other modes count for story or can I just ignore them?

>Boos level

Attached: Marie why.jpg (1440x1440, 398K)

If you're gonna do one a these, it'd be a good idea to have pipes that make P-blocks. If there's just one then you're soft-locked from finishing the level unless you start over or kill yourself. As of now it's just irritating.

I wish online wasn’t a stuttery mess because the online races are strikingly similar to mario battle royale and just as fun.

can you not remove water on the jungle level?

>upload limit is 32

Do y’all think it’ll work like the last game where you get more upload slots the better received your levels are?

>it's just a platformer, how tough could it be to design levels
making decent levels is harder than I thought it would be bros...

Attached: 1558417328767.png (260x265, 152K)

So what is it with Nintendo and their absolutely fucked online? Surely they have to realize how awful it is, right?

or add reset doors

>make a level
>no one plays it

yep, it's mario maker

Japs don’t really use online and play local multiplayer. Online is a western priority and not one Nintendo shares

I considered that, but they’re not there because fucking up the coin order soft locks you anyways so instead I just added a spike you can kill yourself on

How many people to a race?

It’s not too bad man, pick a central theme and run with it for the levels duration, make each section in chunks and run through it over and over in different ways so that it feels good for a variety of play styles.

Give the player options to tackle challenges, more of those don’t usually hurt your unless the stage needs a bottleneck like that

please respond

Is there any way to do local multiplayer with limited lives?

Fuck yeah, won my first ever race.

cool level. I am garbage at timing item throws, but will try to beat it later

>remember an interview with, i believe, miyamoto who said that people are so vocal about making levels and trying to lecture nintendo about design philosophy and how things should be done
>his response to them was "its a lot harder than you think, one day youll know"
>mario maker comes out
>turns out balanced level design is really fucking hard
i find that drafting the level out on paper and ms paint can help, or doing it chunk by chunk and figuring out what kinda obstacles make sense
playing the example levels or going to actual mario games tends to help see how well a level can mesh together

Attached: 1542412472530.gif (187x220, 607K)

You may well never notice anything unusually difficult about the level, you narc.

not very
sorry user

Also good aethstetics can help a lot. Good use of backgrounds and object placement can make an otherwise simple jumping sequence seem more interesting

I never played Mario Maker 1. Do I get all the tools at my disposal right away, or do I have to unlock them through some bullshit means?

The joy cons are so hard to use. What are the good alternatives?

The truth is, it's really easy to critique something you don't have to do. I can call art shit all i want but drawing is fucking hard.

In 1 you had to unlock shit now you get basically everything except two secret powerups. Also the ability to toggle night mode, but all you need to do is make an alternate angry sun, takes like 5 seconds.

Mario 3 is the best video game of all time. Mario 3 IS video games.

stuttering/slow, but as far as I've seen there's no input delay, but it can lag/slow down pretty badly. Most rooms I've played online multiplayer in had this problem.

Why does my course have 0 plays Nintendo I uploaded it hours ago

Attached: 1458845059896.png (1444x1080, 1.9M)

There's a reason barely anyone makes a reasonable level that can be enjoyed by anyone.

It takes more effort to do that than to make epic troll levels

This game seems extremely limited with what you can do. I'm not sure if I should dump money into this.

I'll be checking this thread in the archive tomorrow, and any that may come after, for new courses to play when I wake up.

Good night, paisanos.

Attached: 3001280 - MarmaladeMum Princess_Daisy Super_Mario_Bros..jpg (808x1151, 63K)

Does this game have the giant cheep cheep from Mario Brother 3? That was my favorite level, and I want to recreate it somewhat

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 86K)

Where's the game and gameplay?

>people going "waaaa why hasn't anyone played my course yet"

Attached: ntturudkl7c11.jpg (649x781, 72K)

Is getting this only to play levels, with no intent to make any, a good idea?

the more levels you play, the more your own levels will show up for others, that's how it works.

git gud shitter

thats all i been doing
im sure building shit is fun but at the moment i dont feel the need to

Yes.
Since you've got basically, an infinite number of levels

unfortunately not, closest you have is the big fish (forgot the name) in SM3DW theme

No, but you can use a mushroom on a normal cheep cheep to achieve something similar, even though it's less of a threat without the one-hit-kill.

that's a weird way of doing it but thank you for information

Online is pretty fun despite the lag, though I'm getting less laggy matches as night goes on.

Attached: 1550624771819.jpg (1200x675, 106K)

...

>go through third room too fast
>p-block in fourth room falls through the block and lands on the spikes
make those rooms further apart

Yeah, the fewer people that make levels, the more worth your time making a level is.

Porcupuffer. And it being a 3D World exclusive boggles my mind. It debuted in SMW and was in NSMBU as well. For the SMB3 theme they could have just made it into a Boss Bass like the original game and a giant angry Cheep cheep sprite for SMB, but nope

Japanese player made this SMB Forest course here, it's fuckin dumb with some of its tricks, but I guess it was still kinda fun.

BBC-RL3-8GG

I'll do that now.

Based

Why is the 3d world style so ugly?

agree, here's to hoping they'll add some of these 3D World elements to the other styles (namely the porcupuffer and firebros)

I like it more than NSMB. Not that much more tho.

Ooh good catch, thank you

I mostly just don't like the music from it

Is anyone else experiencing issues with seeing if anyone's played on their courses? I've made 3 levels and I've got 0% 0% attention on all of them

6V4-F32-T0H Just to see if it changes and I was just unlucky

Well, one of my first levels, probably not too good.

SPY-59V-5QG

shit taste

>167 tries and no one has beat it
I didn’t think it was that hard

The 4th room is a big difficulty spike, and it gets really tedious doing the first 3 every time

How do you make a door connect area 1 and area 2?

Bowser Jr fucked me over and hit the P-Switch before I could even do anything and I was just stuck at the bottom with the key. That sucks.

Doors only work in the same sub-area. Use pipes.

they wont even let you use water on other themes, why do you think theyed let you turn it off?

Actual shit taste
It's mainly I feel that the actual level is 3D, unlike NewU which is 3D rendered on a 2D plane.
You look at walls while moving back and forth and see them with different depth, but it's a sidescroller which makes it putting.

Is there no way to upload a co-op level? I wanted to make co-op levels like the one they made for the World Championship, but you can only use 1 player when you try to clear check it.

Hey guys, I made a level where you have to solve some basic math problems. Go check it out: 05C-W4Q-J2G

Does anyone else think the night gimmicks are kind of lazy? Half of them are "these things have water physics but everything else stays the same", or underwater having the same gimmick as ghost house, or the poison water in forest being functionally identical to fortress lava.

Works for me. Pretty nice level

Attached: 1558549759764.jpg (1200x675, 142K)

Eh, I didn't expect the night stuff to be anything more than a theme change so it's nice it actually does something too. But yeah feels like a last minute addition.

did you dev block it

>8-ish more hours until my copy arrives.

just beat it

Saw the winter theme and new I had to make something.

I like my courses to feel real. A bit of flair is nice but no mis-placed blocks or emptiness. Enjoy this one guys. It's not too difficult, I just wanted to make something before I sleep.

SK5-4SK-G6G

Yes. To filter out my none-sideways anons.

Are superball and hammer the only unlockables?

They don’t kill you so you can explore the level further and then take another shot at the condition.

I just spent a few minutes making a level after playing a few of the story levels and watching the first set of maker lessons. It really is a lot of fun. I didn't think I'd be that into it as I've always avoided stuff like this as I don't consider myself very creative and it just didn't seem like something I would enjoy. But I've just been working on a simple level and it's been so much fun. I keep finding myself thinking about all kinds of ideas and after doing something I'll quickly go back and change or add something.

Trying to imagine what it would be like as a player going through my level and what would make the experience better for them is a lot of fun. I honestly didn't expect that. I can see myself putting a lot of time into this. I love how simple making stuff is in this game. I just hope other people don't think my levels suck too much.

This is retarded. Dreams is a completely different niche than SMM, it’s infinitely more open but the tradeoff is that it takes significant investment to make something competent (and it’s harder still to make something that’s actually fun)

Does the game support Switch's video capture? mite be cool for quick webms to demonstrate a level's shtick here.

As long as you keep making, you'll get better, user. The main part is trying to remove random and frustrating parts so it's on the player when they make a mistake.

Play my minigame:
8PM-NGH-1RF

Nevermind I figured it out I'm actually retarded
If anyone else comes through looking for the solution you have to jump on the ghosts' heads with the boot

>the more levels you play
does via endless count or do is it need to be the other way?

He’s 100% correct
The majority of players, even the majority of players who post on core gaming forums, don’t understand how much work actually goes into making games

That's the beauty of this game. My advice is to always ensure the level is asthetically pleasing at all times, then it gives the impression that you really cared.

Good luck user, I can't wait to play your levels.

Attached: 1561662448059m.jpg (839x1024, 110K)

god the online co op would be fucking amazing if there wasn't any lag. i'm actually really pissed right now. so much wasted potential because nintendo sucks with anything online.

had a few comments and likes by the time I got around to playing it, seemed like an okay level though a bit random in terms of parts used. imo it's generally a good idea to limit the parts you're using in a level to keep a consistent theme and avoid clutter.
endless counts

I will take 3D World aesthetic over New Sup every single time.

>Make difficult level
>Have to clear it in one shot
>Have to clear it from the half way point after that

I didn't have a Wii U. Was it like this in the original? Trying to clear this in one shot makes me want to just not make levels, or atleast not make levels that are even remotely difficult because I have to put in more effort than the people who will be playing it.

Anyone want to try out my levels? They are basically my first attempt at making a level outside of little big planet years ago.

Q25-PS1-4RF
6LX-F2H-J9G
They are both really short and basically are there so I could fuck around in the editor. Tell me what you guys think.

worked like this in SMM1, it's likely to deter people from making kaizo-tier levels of hard, although in reality it forces those level creators to get even better at the game so they can upload their tricky levels anyway.

>bought game from CDKeys
>still no key
AHHHHHHHH

Attached: 1528729235495.gif (500x375, 1022K)

It has to do with tricks involving making a level impossible to beat if you start after a checkpoint. Like, for example, putting a fire flower at the beginning of a level, then not having one for the entire level, making the fire flower necessary to beat the level somehow (having koopas blocking a path or something), but making it so you can't go back to the beginning by having Mario fall off a door or something. It's necessary for checkpoint-using levels.

Just sneak in level breaking powerups in places peeps legit won't even think to jump at. I did it a few times in Wii U cause of this dumb rule.

Attached: XC2_Ursula_Artwork.png (941x1186, 1.08M)

Dunno if that's the same for SMM2, but in 1, when you dragged out ground tiles it populated it with flowers and bushes and lamposts.
You can copy those tiles and put them together to create little aesthetic bits

first one wasn't found, tried the thwomp one and it was fine I guess. Very short and easy, not much to look at, but I gave it a like anyway as there was nothing wrong with it either.

>I have to put in more effort than the people who will be playing it.
Welcome to game design.

Conversely, beating it with only checkpoints would also allow tricks, i.e. having the checkpoint give you a mushroom, then making a part where you have to be small to get through and no way to take damage. It'd be impossible to clear without at least one death.

It's the same, user.

Attached: 1561256583835m.jpg (961x1024, 100K)

Thwomp riding is a neat concept for a level, though it could have been expanded on a little more

Sorry I’m retarded its Q2S-PS1-4RF

>needing dev blocks
Get fucking good, scrub.

>Make vertical levels
>Camera keeps Mario in the middle of the screen instead of the bottom so climbing stages are a lot more blind than they should be

I get it for when you want the level to go down, but stages where you ascend are going to be rough. I tried to make one as my first course if you want to see what I mean.

Is grabbing stuff while spinning in SMW really impossible? I couldn't sleep thinking about it.

>but drawing is fucking hard.
Not really. It's all just practice.

Hopefully it’s just an oversight that wasn’t tested, because there’s no conceivable reason to deliberately remove it.

>tfw so uncreative
It hurts

cool
I got first clear

when you're playtesting your own level over and over you develop muscle memory and become a speed runner at your own course so it kind of alienates your perception of the difficulty.

Dreams is too complicated, Mario Maker is good because even a retard could make a competent playable level. Dreams you need skills, like LBP

Here's some courses.

good short level leaf, neat idea. needs a bit of cleaning up though.
neat idea, pretty good once you get the hang of it.

There is. You have to download the levels then go to course world.

>some japanese guy just commented :( on my level.

If you guys want to check out a course I made, check out 87G-C59-8VF

It's my first level, but it took me hours to make. Mostly figuring everything out. A lot of shit in it is pretty RNG though. I noticed that enemies and a few other tricks I tried to do just stop existing. Sometimes before you even get to them.

>Order game thursday morning from Amazon
>Prime expedited delivery
>Still not dispatched, estimated delivery is saturday

I know it's only a day, but it's technically a pre-order...

Which of the two control patterns are you guys using?
The default is X/Y dash and B/A jump
But that makes you rest your finger inbetween Y and B to have access to both dash and jump, which is a bit too close to the right control stick on the pro controller.

So I use the alternate one and rest between B and A for dash and jump.

tell me what you think in the comments

G6N-YNV-WDF

neat, the first level I ever made in SMM1 had the same name.

Looking at his head makes me feel sick. Some people just shouldn't cam

Default because it’s the more natural thumb position.

never played SMM1. so far in using the maker there's only one thing that really annoys me, and it's the camera. my brain doesn't like either of the zoom levels you can place stuff in, and the movement is weird. I'll probably get used to it

It's a little fucked up you can't create with the camera zoomed out completely

why, all of my levels of course!
actually I'm not really sure I remember any specific levels/creators of note, anons were mostly chill and up to try anything.

it's generally a good idea to actually make your level easier than you originally intend it

>Rodrigo leaves competitive
>Slideshow mode immediately disengages
Too bad about this lag, but I guess it's at least even for everyone.

2V3-BJR-J2G

I decided to remake one of my levels from the first Super Mario Maker.

Don't have the game yet so I made some mashups of the new level themes + level editor themes if anyone is interested.

Are mystery costumes really gone? Do we know the extra mode yet?

GDC-3D3-DPG

This is my first time playing Mario Maker ever. I just wanted to make something short, sweet and a little mischievous.

I made my first level. It's a bit boring, but please check it out if you're interested.

Creativity isn’t something you have, it’s something you do.
Try this. Open up Maker and pick out two course components you like, just two, and try to combine them in interesting ways. For now, don’t analyze it — just play with the pieces. You’d be surprised how much you can do with, say, seesaws and Bullet Bills. Or play some levels and take note of sequences you thought were fun, try to recreate what you liked about it, then change it up.

Simple and easy are fine so long as it's actually fun to play. What matters is making something enjoyable, difficulty be damned.

Do you need Nintendo Online to play user-made levels?

puzzle map

I thought the point was to troll in the most bullshit way possible (and without sound effects, nor saying the word "troll" in the title).

I miss the invisible block glitch. It helped make an otherwise "Easy" level to be a Super-Expert one.

Is there a way to place things, and not be picking up everything your cursor touches? It's really tedious putting stuff in front of semisolids.

Of course
deluxe editions comes with 1 year for 9.99 more
if you get a free trial of amazon prime you can also get 3 months of switch online for free right away

0WV-RHW-GGF
cobbled this together in like 20 minutes, not anything nuts, just me getting a feel for using the creator
it's not very good but maybe someone here will enjoy it

Place it elsewhere and then drag it in front. You can also copy items and then drag them in front of the semisolid.

Maybe I'm too used to PC gaming, but man I hate this shit
Too bad that for my boycott meme I can't play smash, defenly interested in playing it
But hey, I have a Spotify premium account, someone has a Nintendo Online to play stis stuff
Also I'm broke

Versus is full of cock suckers

Is natural discovery in this game even possible? Or will my levels only get played if I shill them places

Would anyone like to try my level? I tried putting the dark mechanics to good use

07Q-0GP-NJG

The SMW forest theme is godlike

The former is what I have been doing, yeah, but it's tedious. If you paste things on top of semisolids, it removes it for whatever fuckin reason

Why did he quit Melee for this?

fun, even if i killed the wiggler at the top and fucked myself over my first go

I love dreams and I spend much time on this game but has nothing to do with mario maker, mario maker is simple and fun, you can make a level in a few minutes without knowing shit
drems is good but tedious at first

still waiting for my copy. stupid ass courier is slow as fuck.
can't wait to boo all of your levels

It's about impossible to see the platforms you're supposed to jump on after the question block near the end there. Died twice until I had that part memorized.

So is it worth getting a switch for this game? I didn’t like the first game that much. Didn’t seem like the variety was there but mm2 looks good.

Thanks for checking it out, glad you liked it

This isn’t a major improvement from the first game honestly

All because you died a lot on Easy in the first game?

when you have pipes that aren't connected to anything, it's best to put blocks around the base, they look weird otherwise

The question block with the fire flower? You're supposed to use the fire flower at that point to find the platforms

no, switch is my first console since ps2

>desert theme
>no pokey

BASED PIGEON

Attached: hidden.jpg (1280x720, 179K)

Thanks for the tip. I'll get better the more i make levels and get feedback. I'm not really looking to make something super challenging but comfy.

Make an underwater night level (darkness) autoscroller where you have to escort something through a maze of spikes while the timer is running out

Pretty sure the chinks love Splatoon and Mario Kart

M-MOMMY

anyone able to beat this?

chinks dont even know what splatoon is

Is Yoshi in the Mario World maker?

Just boo'd every stage posted in here

Attached: pepino.jpg (640x640, 79K)

Guys should I get the game? Im still debating in my head?

can you make those balance platforms/mushrooms that go up/down depending on which one you stand on

thanks, you saved me the trouble of doing it myself

What is there even to debate?
What kind of insane person would NOT get this? Infinite fun.

do you like Mario games? ever wanted to try your hand at designing a level?

GLG-K1G-1HG
I never played the first one, so I’m bad with editor. If someone decides to check it, please leave your feedback. I will try to improve the level later.

So in a fourth world country lol

But should I buy a switch for it though

If I posted a stage that was basically a gauntlet of tricky jumps one after another, would that piss you off or would you enjoy it?

But is the game fun?

*ahem*

IS YOSHI IN THIS GAME!?

Attached: 1560363325162.jpg (399x463, 22K)

No one game is worth getting a switch for

Just loading up a level and hearing Super Bell Hill puts me in an all is good mood.

Attached: 1472307585335.jpg (930x520, 38K)

First thing I am gonna do (after tutorials), is remaking the only level I did on the 3DS.

Depends on whether you find away to make those jumps satisfying, and the consequences for repeatedly failing not too frustrating.

Hey guys just fyi if you want to replay the stages Nintendo had at E3 for the Mario Maker Invitational, they are apparently now online under the account name NintendoUS, ID: GC0-BJM-HBG

yes

>check points where people died on my level
>literally no one has died on the part i intended to be the hardest, most death are people choking to random goombas and koopas

Just made this: QJM-WGP-1MG

It's been years since I made any courses in MM1, so I'm trying to get back into the groove of things.

Is the game a shitshow? Loved the first one but a few decisions Nintendo made with this game has me worried.

414-923-T8G
First level. Pretty short. My goal with the stages I'm going to create is to make something difficult but fair. Basically just standard Mario levels but a bit harder. I also really like Mario 3, so I'll probably mainly use that

No you retard, stop listening to falseflaggers.

Nina porn when?

>using dev exits
you're literal cancer

I find it kinda interesting how the majority of Yea Forums seems to be into making somewhat easy traditional courses.

honestly, i played a ton of Mario Royale so I just kinda have traditional levels on the brain. I've also never been into Kaizo stuff

anyone can make a stage with nothing but cheap jumps a million enemies and invisible blocks
but making an actual stage that is FUN to play thats the real challenge

I'm going to make a stage that is a compilation of every annoying thing you could imagine
running against max speed conveyor belts, getting bounced around by 30 trampolines and such

nice level, I apparently got the world record.

One criticism I have is the part where the platforms fall onto the munchers, the coins felt misleading the first time around as you can't see there are munchers below so I assume it would be a longer drop. I think it'd be a good idea to change the coins to direct you to the next platform instead of have the coins straight down like that where they lead to death.

In which tier do we put Super Mario Maker 2?

cute feets :)

Made my 1st level please give some feed back just had my friends try it they liked it but anons will be more critical.
>courseid V8K-6NK-DBG

I have a question
The guy whose stage you just played already uploaded his course, right?
If he were to edit it now to change some coin positions, wouldn't he have to reupload it fresh and the initial upload would be "gone"? Aka the level code would be gone?

And if someone made a course that people starred a lot and it rose towards the top on the daily course highlights or something and he edited and reuploaded it, it'd be gone from there right?

Basically what I'm saying is, it seems like you should only upload once you really are content with the stage and sure it's good?

Good hard levels take a lot of effort to make, so you won't be seeing them this early. Simply remaking some of my hard levels from the previous game will take me longer than making new easier ones.

I payed 10 with the pack of the game and 1 year online

Top.

Comfy snow themes makes it top or God tier by themselves

What do you even do with the desert level when there's no dang pokey

standard style mario courses that are easy to play are surprisingly hard to actually design, making a level fun and interesting with a consistent theme takes real design skill. That's not to say that good challenging levels can't exist, as they absolutely can (even in terms of kaizo-tier challenge you can make the experience engaging), there's just more interest in standard courses and they're typically a more fun experience for most people.
I think it'd be uploaded as a separate copy whilst keeping the original upload?
At least, that's how I remember it working in SMM1, not sure about 2
god tier easily, mario maker is a must-have imo

god tier
also why is pokken in top tier but botw only mid tier?

1-1: Start of a New Journey

Course ID: V61-WT5-DPG

And so it begins. This is the first of a series of levels I plan to make, back when MM1 launched I made two full 1-1 to 8-4 campaigns completely with in the game, and had planned to make a third before my Wii U unfortunately died.

But with MM2 that's about to change. Bit Crusade is back! Now that I've got a level in the bank I'mma peruse the levels ya'll have posted

Starting with yours

Just finished my first level, man using a stylus is so much more preferable to controller or your finger, I'd definitely pick one up if you haven't already.
>Skybound Stroll
8CS-TGF-WDF
Also can I tie music to just a sub-area?

How is wanting to play other peoples levels cringey?

Anyone got a list of the currently known Mii Costume unlocks? Wondering if there are some particularly obscure or hard to get ones I should work towards. I got a cool fireworks shirt that gives off a bunch of firework particles by getting a winstreak of 5 in online verses.

everything is cringey to Yea Forums

You say "Bit Crusade is back!" as if anyone here knew what that is.
Kinda yikes my friend

Its okay i deserve it for bing binging and wahooing.

For my first level I made a normal SMB sky level with a vertical autoscrolling part for the second half of it. I'd say the level is intermediate in terms of difficulty. Try not to slip.

>Climb the Sky Fortress!
N12-XKN-JPF

>stop listening to falseflaggers
Ok, even though you are just using terms loosely, I will go ahead and take a loo-

>retard
Ah nevermind, you wanted to take your rage out on something after your boss fucked you over today. Let go of your hatred dude. People might actually listen to you a little bit more.

Anyone from the the old mario maker threads probably would, I'm just excited about the game man dont be a buzzkill

Really annoying sound but some tech here
clips.twitch.tv/CrowdedFrigidMangetoutRitzMitz

Agreed, a stylus is leaps and bounds better than the pro controller. I just finished your level, that beanstalk slide was a lot of fun man. Good music choice too.

Sorry, I derive enjoyment from putting other people down and making them feel bad

Some concept I thought would work out better (hard to keep it fair), but might be fun
D9D-67H-1MG

Thanks a lot, I wanted to have slider tied to just that section, but couldn't figure out how to, but having it for the entire level's hardly a bad thing

made a very easy stage:

BQR-4MK-L1H

Oh cool you get a pigeon mask for doing all tutorials

Okay, my first MM2 level: DK0-LWS-3RF
Strangely enough this is noticeably better than any MM1 level I ever made, despite nothing happening in the interim that should have made me improve.

How the hell do I play as Toadette offline? It’s literally the only thing I wanted out of this game?

Attached: 2CABAEFE-7886-46B1-86C9-9A069E157C7D.jpg (501x674, 303K)

How do I get music to play during an entire level? It fades out after walking a distance away from the trigger. I tried spamming the music all over, which works, but I can't place enough before the end of the level.

Open a level offline, pause, go into settings, select toadette, select start over

i wanna fuck that ass

Attached: 1526457698985.jpg (796x991, 381K)

Literally in settings

Set it in options. Story mode is locked to Mario sadly.

Place it on your character itself.

I've seen people die in bottomless pits way past the pipe they're supposed to go down, and I even made arrows point towards the pipe to make sure no one misses it

Thanks user

Can you place sound effects on Mario himself too so they play continuously for the whole level?

Such as the cat paw punch or the fart sound?
kek

How do you get past bullet bill jump i was breezing through it til that

First level played had those Miiverse-esque note staying FUCK YOU APE NIGGER at the start

I dont know what I expected

I mean I think it only plays for the start of the level, but I think you can put sound effects on him yeah.

Has Wario been found anywhere in the game?

Attached: sad wario.png (256x256, 10K)

Aw shame I think people would have enjoyed being punched by a paw for 3 minutes

Gotta go to work, it's being delivered before I get home.
How do I stop being a fucking autist in creative games like this? In Mario Maker 1 (and other games) always spend days trying to perfect one level and end up never making another level again. How do you guys crank these level codes out already?

Which one? In the first section or the autoscrolling part? You shouldn't have to jump on any bullet bills to proceed through the level, but there is a secret if you jump off a canonball right.

You've got years ahead of you with SMM2. There is nothing wrong with taking your time to make really good stages.

Better 10 great stages uploaded than 50 mediocre ones.

Do I set to that shit every time I start a level? I swear I’m not retarded. I’m just about to go to work.

How is editing with a controller? Don't have the game until later. Better to just undock and use a stylus?

Nah, once you set it, you stay as that character in everything but Story mode and I think MP, although MP might try to give you your preference?

It's functional, I used it to collaboratively make a relatively simple level with friends, but the stylus is much better for more intricate stages.

I think you have to place the icon for the song you want on every tile of that specific section. Kinda tedious but copy paste will streamline it.

That stage was pretty fun, challenging too. The giant thwomp had me shitting bricks that jump is pretty tight unless you're small.

I played the piss out of MM1, also I've been working on mine for like the last 6 hours

The controllers not bad per say, just kinda awkward with how the menus are set up. Using a stylus is much easier and quicker so I'd recommend that if possible.

Stylus is the best but for quick or small changes controller is fine too. If you're going to spend hours in the editor might as well undock it though.

Thanks user, I'm a bit rusty since I haven't made a Mario Maker course in a while, happy to see someone likes it. Plus making courses in docked mode is a pain.

>underwater level
But it would probably be atrocious in multiplayer. Good job.

This was fun, but damageboosting OP. I didn't throw any fireballs at all when I tried for a good time.

shit taste, 3d world there on smm2 is what new super mario bros should have looked like from the beginning

I just went back to my level and actually I think "making things simple and easy" was just an excuse for a lack of creativity with the mechanics and level design. It's a lot harder to make something hard but good than something easy but good; but if you ever wanted to make anything good in the first place you always have to be pushing.

>course literally only has one goomba between you and the finish on flat ground
>under 80% clear rate
*thinking*

>damageboosting
What is this?
I thought using Spinys would prevent people running through because you can't jump off them in a stack like Goombas

>Put a tiny warm-up thwomp over the start of the level
>Super expert

What would your ideal level be? I need some creative ideas

Damn, how do people do the infinite spin->ground pound->spin-> ground pound thing to "stay in the air" in NSMBU?
I feel like I drop too quickly attempting it

Just bought, should I play handheld or on my TV?

Upside down double shell jump level.

you can still run through them when you are in i-frames frin taking a hit

Anybody else stuck downloading? Mine has been at 38% for like two hours.

Do you really need other people to tell you what you prefer?

Check if you have something else downloading in the background and cancel that.

That's what spinjumping's for.
Even though it's not what you intended I will say that your level was fun to grind WR on, though.

rosalina pixel art vore

Game wouldn't let me select other wim condition tabs... wtf?

Spell out the N word with coins

Making levels is way easier in handheld, but that's mostly because Joycons are hot garbage drift machines.

Sure but the platform after the Spinys is high up, I don't see how someone could i-frame their way through it when a bounce is required. It sounded like some bug technique was used

you can see where your stage ended up difficulty wise? Or are you guessing based on the clear rate %?

>not having a pro controller
oof

It would be interesting experiment to make a level that locks you in room with a galoomba and won't let you finish until you kill it.

How does the game decide whether to put your stage in easy/normal/expert/super expert when no one has cleared it yet?

Attached: 1561438828751.jpg (404x404, 36K)

everything created in dreams plays like shit. It may as well just be 3D modelling software as the gameplay/physics are horrible and nobody knows how to make an actual fun game with it.

Apparently it makes an estimate depending on how hard it was for you yourself to clear the stage and how often you died before uploading it, but of course as people play it they adjust it based on clear rate

No one will ever play it ever

>spinjumping
Shit I didn't even know that was in NSMBU
Thanks user

Attached: 1504031355473.png (283x414, 175K)

This terrifies me, what if you randomly get a super expert level and spend all your lives trying to clear it thinking it's supposed to be easy?

>boo icon isn't a boo
DROPPED and CANCELLED

I'm really enjoying these story levels. You can tell they made this to inspire people. Every level is basically a showcase of some ideas to try and make you go "oh that makes me want to try x"

The stylus is fucking tiny.

Damn, those are some short ass level codes. I'm gonna be less lazy and play all of Yea Forums's shit when I get the game.

>wasting time in a proper game when sony gets all the rights
lmao just download game maker at that point what are you doing nigger if you struck gold somehow youd not be able to ever profit from it why would anyone use dreams

So what does Yea Forums think of Nintendo being a bunch of fags and getting rid of advanced movement and physics like getting rid of shell jumps, holding items while spinning and making it so you cant pass under noteblocks?

it's the same seething snoyger that is ordering people to not buy games because he have nothing to play himself.

They didn't get rid of shell jumps. If you're going to shitpost, at least know what you are talking about.

I like it because I hate kaizo
But this game still has plenty of advanced stuff that is even harder to do than in mm1 so yeah that sucks

Shell jumps are still in.
No idea why they removed the ability to catch items while spin jumping while you can still catch stuff while regular jumping. It seems like a mistake/oversight to me.

Only half A presses

>uploaded courses have their clear-check time logged, and publicly visible
oh god

If it's more than 4 hours, you should see doctor Mario

Game too laggy

Designed for versus. Tested and works for solo.
DWC-9CF-T0H

Can you make it through the saws on the see-saw and keep the hitchhikers at bay?

I'm thinking about buying it, just let me ask a thing
Can you make/download intere packages of levels or do you have to search and input the codes of them one by one? I have no intention to spend most of the time writing codes on the horrible Switch keyboard

Eh. Its a 9 digit code.

Shits bothersome but at least its not original Nintendo friend code length

L2T-RW4-YQG
One of the stages I uploaded got comments giving advice for me to work more on making the stages visually appealing, so I tried making one that looked alright. Hopefully this is better than my previous

There is no "package" option. But you can look at the maker's profile and therefore their other courses, allowing you to download them without typing in an ID. The IDs are also only 9 digits now.

V8k-6NK-DBG

You can just enter endless Mario and play infinite stages while also getting on the leaderboards for it

There is an entire section dedicated to browsing levels by popularity/latest/hot right now etc you dont have to enter a code unless you want to play one user particular level and if you like it you can follow the creator and get all his levels

Hope these threads keep going, I'm gonna play every last one of your gay levels when I get home

It kills dev exits.

it's brawl all over again and all I've gotta say is:

FUCK melee and FUCK kaizo

eat shit, losers. you are a vocal MINORITY. #YouDontMatter

Not really, they can just stand next to the goal for three minutes.

Tried to make a level using some of the new features like vertical levels, snake blocks and night theme. Anyone want to give me some feedback?
28Q-JNN-LKF

Yes

On one hand it forces levels to be more playable for the average player. On the other hand technical levels had their appeal. Sucks, but I prefer casual shit so it doesn't bother me personally.

Can you friend or follow other makers?

yes

Is there a complete unlock guide yet? I want to make my mii look /fa/ as fuck

just play the whole story
get tons of stars / world records / first clears for special tshirts
do all tutorials for a pigeon mask

where can I get some quick money

This is really cool user. Good job

Am I the only one who's autistic about what theme he chooses?

>SMB for straight old school platforming vibes
>SMB3 for levels I want to tell a "story" with
>SMW for gimmicky shit: boo mazes, levels with branching paths
>NSMB for really tough platforming or just over the top wacky shit

Always remember to make your stage a little easier than you think it should be.
You may think your stage is super easy, but you're the one that made it.
And most people are utter shit, or are literal children.

Please try out my very first level! (Never had a Mario Maker game before)

It's about 15 seconds long and you have to collect 100 coins.

Weird level but I enjoyed it for some reason.

This one was really nice, I can't wait to play with the seesaw myself. Dem sawblades were tricky but it felt very fair.

I like this one too, the aesthetics aren't bad and I like how you teased the player with the goal before they can actually clear the stage

This one is awesome, was my first vertical AND night stage for SMW. Super cozy. The platforming is pretty solid with the snake blocks and it was decently challenging without being too hard. Great boss idea too, took me a couple tries to figure out what to do until I noticed the icicles could kill him. Well done user

There are clothes and stuff for your maker mii you can get by reaching x clears in endless mode
Buddy just got a t-shirt for doing 100 easy clears in endless

who will be first to get 100 super expert clears?

DHR-8SG-3HG
There's a 50 second time limit but it's not as limiting as it sounds if you play as intended. Not terribly proud of this one but I felt obligated to make a level based on the N64 music

can i force someone to play as a character?

>copy just arrived, drawing kits and all
Hell yeah

Gonna do my workout then get to playing

Attached: 1374881862504.png (125x105, 9K)

Less monty moles at the end.

skipping has no downside so it might not be that difficult

It behaves almost nothing like it does in any Mario game which baffles me. They never ate Mario in any game but they do here. Hell it doesn't even behave that way in 3D World. The whole thing is fucking baffling. Why not just add Cheep Chomps or Big Berthas which actually do chase eat Mario. Porcupuffers are just lunge at Mario in shallow water.

>skipping has no downside
What, seriously? Not even a skip limit? What a sham.
Why does Nintendo always devalue their leaderboards?

I might actually be retarded
In the story mode, in level 9 "the keymaster" the ghost house stage
How do they want you to get way up to the key platfrom in the room with the one twister?

nope.

Yeah, it is a bit much, I just didn't want them all to come from all sides. Maybe if I get really autistic with the spawn buffer overflow or something...

well if people hack the Diablo 3 Switch leaderboards they may as well devalue their own

Sell boipu$$y

I'm a creativity wasteland, I just started the game and I'm staring at the creator, paralyzed in front of all the possibilities, unable to make anything at all.
What the fuck I didn't ask for this existential dread

Please try my shit ass level, it's really basic and uninteresting but whatever: X16-FQF-10H

My first foray into 3D world, and definitely a concept I'd love to take further.
8TH-PSF-LKF

Don't stress over it. Do something simple first with basic enemies and flat lands and just keep adding stuff along the way.

So you mean turd-world country

Don't get lost in all the bullshit. Find a mechanic that you really like (the see-saws for example) and try making a level out of just that.

Is this what poos actually believe

Remember, if you get the key in a vs game, run away so no-one can progress.

Don't try too hard to make a level, just have fun playing around with the various elements and then try to translate that fun into a level.

Am I weird for preferring the original SMB style over all others?

I mean I like all of them and SMW will always hold a special place in my heart, but something about the OC SMB makes the levels in it so... pure and to the point. No fancyshmancy this or that, just straightforward.

Try to beat my stage: Don't touch the Moon.

Sucks dicks or sell nudes if you are a girl.

cool level no pun intended, but I really didn't like the boss fight at all. Far too much monty mole spam in an area that's too crowded, it ruins the concept of the boss considerably as the big dry bones often gets cornered by a crowd of monty moles; imo too frustrating compared to the otherwise chill nature of the level.

>kaizofags whining that their obscure glitches were patched

beautiful

This game makes my Switch's fans get really loud

Sell blood and plasma

Do apparently a stylus is recommended for this shit? What should I buy? It won't scratch the screen will it?

I made a stage and nobody has played it yet. :(

Any way to search for levels made by people I'm friends with, or do I have to input their course code to find them in the first place?

Capacitive styluses have soft tips so they don't scratch
Get a cheap one

input their maker name

>Its a Kaizofaggotry level with invisible blocks in places you need to jump
>Its tagged "Standard"

Well fuck you too

play my level and tell me how much it sucks ass

Use just one arrow or stop them from going farther. People are too used to troll levels where obvious pipes lead to Spiked-Wall Man.

The repeating speckles in the background give me a headache. But the metallic-looking terrain and the decorative fiddleheads are excellent.

Can you report mislabeled levels?

Then take the checkpoint out
If you have to one shot it so does everyone else

I want my 100 mario back. The new endless mode kinda sucks desu.

what’s the Yea Forumserdict bros? is it worth a buy? i never played the first

You can decide after yo uplay it which tags you think are most appropriate. If enough people do that, presumably it's changed.

Don't let shitposters see this but there's apparently a hard cap of 32 levels you can upload and it doesn't go up. Some people already have tons of stars and maker points and are still at 32.
This is really bad. Most of us can probably get by with 32 courses uploaded at once (you can save over a hundred locally), but for some dedicated makers this sucks hard.

I tried this. Like you said it’s basic but it’s not that bad. Just gotta flesh those ideas out a bit more and add some more variety

This ones neat, using the bully to clear
The path is a neat idea. The only downside is that he resets if you get too far ahead of him from long jumping but that’s a minor gripe. Interested to see how you develop the concept further

>capping stages
what the actual fuck? why?

He's a pain in the ass to manipulate because he'll jump up to about a block lower than your current height with wings too, hence why the pathing is mostly flat.

They were capped in SMM1 on the WiiU too. Except much higher. iirc at max you had 120 upload slots after getting lots of stars.
Maybe Nintendo thinks this way more people get their levels played?

Does the idea of playing user made Mario levels and creating your own appeal to you? If yes, then get it. If not, don't.

cant you bypass this by making another account?

Yes, but then you'd be on a new profile and people wouldn't see all your levels "in one place". That's a bandaid fix at best.

If you get another Nintendo online subscription, thne yes

I'm sure they could raise the cap later. Maybe they just don't want the servers to be overwhelmed at launch.

If you're on the family plan you could have 4 accounts under one I think
Either way that's not a good fix for this, Nintendo needs to increase the cap

High contrast + complementary colors

well at least it can be fixed easily, with enough outcry. and the devs do listen to the community too
maybe its to limit the bloat, yeah. Dedicate builders still can bandage fix it with multiple profile
They tend to post their stages on Twitter too. at least the jp ones

A checkpoint would have been nice...
