New Vegas contains a shit load of unique weapons to find. Around 40. The wasteland also has tons of skill books to find. Exploration is highly rewarding, especially if you min-max.

New Vegas does tend to do this. The only thing is that most of NV's major locations are involved in quests rather than mini stories.
