I like open world games.
Why so many people whine about them?
I like open world games
The 'open world' genre is a meme
Most modern games have a barren open world with repetitive activities thrown around
How about BOTW or RDR2?
What?
havent played rdr2 but BOTW is a great example of what that user was talking about. a barren open world filled with repetitive activities. combat in that game is a joke and the dungeons are terrible. its basically just run a big empty world real hard
Of course better missions and NPCs are a big problem in open world games. But exploration, unique enemies and looking for epic loot is fun.
I thought people liked BOTW, never played it.
yeah I like open world games too but usually when a game markets itself as "open world" it turns out to be mostly empty 90% of the time because all of the development budget went to making the game "16 times the size of skyrim!"
Did you ever play Sniper Ghost Warrior 3? Apparently people hated it, but on paper seemed fine.
Just like in real life. problem with open world formula is that it mimics reality.
Did you like Skyrim?
Imagine Skyrim in a realistic scale
Walking from one village to the next takes hours not minutes, you know how all that 30sec away from the next cave to explore feeling it has? Yeh forget that and make it 30min or more
But its bigger therefore its better
Which game are you talking about?
Is divine divinity any good? I've had it for years in my steam inventory but I never touched it.
If you like old games, yeah, it's good.
sacred 1 always had one of my favourite open worlds, shame the sequels were garbage
It's fucking great. Don't play on hard tho.
>Why so many people whine about them?
because all the activities are repetitive busywork
I thought I liked open world games,
but i REALLY meant 'immersive sims' and non linear rpgs
This game was fucking massive and I remember sinking at least 40 hours into this shit. I never played through its expansion though.
immersive sims? skyrim is the most immersive game i know
if you play that shit too much over a short period of time, you start thinking about reloading saves if you fuck up your life
Most of Yea Forums is underage and thinks that open-world games are something new. They don't realize that all the linear garbage they played as kids were the real "non-traditional games" and the open-worlds is what's actually normal.
this
>immersive sims
That's the most overused phrase now. It originally just meant "Looking Glass Studios games". Then it meant "games like Looking Glass Studios' games". Now it means "first person games that use 2 or more mechanics from Deus Ex and has optional stealth".
