However some stuff like Hama/Mudo from the SMT series rarely feels fair to players and can just flat out end runs and every boss is immune to it so it doesn't even go both ways.

RNG is a cheap way to make games take longer to complete a certain objective instead of actually coming up with interesting ways for completing said objective. At least some games have ways of increasing your chances of finding rare items,getting higher damage rolls on attacks, etc. I usually only see the pure form of it in games where if you took the aspect of RNG out the actual content of the game would be a few hours at best, and this is especially true for the MMO genre.

it depends, I think fgfags are generally ok with rng because we play games that are random by nature (opponent can do several options and we have to choose what we think best covers those based on risk/reward before we can visually confirm what is happening) but my fellow mobafaggots are pretty strange about rng. I have seen dota players who vehemently defend power runes (both mid players may play equally well and both get a rune, but one of them gets one that does nothing for their hero and the other gets one that autowins the lane for them) but hate on things that add strategic depth like chaos knight and phantom assassin. They act like a crit that gives 20% dps increase is the same as a standard item that would do that, ignoring that a crit both enables you to risk going for plays that only work on the offchance you high roll multiple times, and forces you to respect the fact that you may just not crit several times in certain engagements where the standard damage item would've been fine. There's also the whole card game genre.
