There is literally not a single dev team with any significant notoriety that comes close to being as bad as Game Freak in terms of raw incompetence on just about every front except for maybe music and sometimes character design. They have had incompetent programmers working on Pokemon since the very beginning; RGBY are a bug-riddled mess and GSC were delayed by MULTIPLE YEARS due to programming issues that Iwata solved in like 2 months, leaving them enough room to fit the entirety of Kanto.
I've never played a single game by FromSoft and if I ever do it likely won't be Souls, but just from a glance their history has way more competent games than GF. There are 3-5 mainline Pokemon games worth playing, and you can eliminate a couple based on your preferences.
