What does Yea Forums use to play fighting games?

fighting games originated in arcades and and any modern fighting game worth playing is best played on an arcade stick.

I use my cheatbox since it's the best input method in 95% of cases.

What's wrong with just using a keyboard?

You can't really bring it to locals. Also the very cramped/smaller keys on keyboard aren't as nice.

Would it be better to get one of these as a scrub and learn from the ground up with it? I hear some pros are never able to adjust to them but I don't want to seem too much like a tryhard when I can barely play on a pad as is.

Probably, yes. I find it extremely easy to use compared to everything else. Mainly because I've been using a keyboard for so many years now that it makes sense. An uppercut is just 3 quick button taps it's so easy.

isn't pad better for tekken? personally it's easier for me to kbd on than an arcade stick and there aren't any button pressing issues you can't solve with trigger macros
not a problem, plenty of scrubs play on expensive ass custom sticks at locals and nobody cares. if you want to think about the advantages of each controller this is a really good video

wasd for movement
lmb, rmb, wheel (scrolling and clicking), the two buttons on the side of the mouse, and the spacebar give me enough buttons for lp, mp, hp, and lk, mk, and hk.

Sanwa buttons, seimitsu stick with square guide of course. The thread and the button on the side holds the pcb and some cables inside because I'im lazy.

Pad vs Stick in tekken is fairly character dependent to my knowledge. You could also check out hitboxes or mixboxes for tekken.

I can't go back to pad on Tekken. I play Steve and A.King and they're just so much better on stick for me. Also I'm less likely to mash on stick

Dunno about A.King but I know king is a lot better to play on pad.

A.King is less dependent on grab chains and more on fundamentals but he's pretty much the same. That's probably what the difference is since setting macros to the shoulders helps a lot for king

Depends on which one you buy. Older ones have Sanwa parts (except one which I think had Kuro parts) while the newer ones have Hayabusa parts.

Hayabusa stick has a nice amount of firmness to it, but moves around very smoothly. The hayabusa buttons are the only thing I've ever seen anyone complain about, and its because they're used to Sanwa. The hayabusa aren't as 'fast action' as Sanwa, they sink in a bit more. That said, the buttons are just as sensitive, they sink in, but you don't have to push them much for them to register. I had to get used to them moving from my TE stick, but I prefer them now.

VLX retain their value pretty well. I think it was $400 when it first came out so used ones for $300 isn't surprising.
