They would have, but Gay Freak saw that sooner or later that they would surpass them, so they literally offered higher paying positions to most of their members. So now Genius Sorority is a skeleton crew that works on mobile trash since that's all they have the manpower to do.

The major selling point of the games was battles being 3D and fully animated. Once handheld hardware caught up, there wasn't much reason left to keep making them, especially with how more expensive it was to create HD titles.
I'd like to see these guys make another but it'll never happen. Hell, I'd take literally anyone besides Game Freak.
