ill wait....

Triple jump.

Quadruple jump

Age progression

Air dash

This.

Dash into a slide.
Bonus points if it is possible from a jump

Have sextuple jump.

Jump dash is where it's at.

Wall jumping and running

wall jump is more kino than double jump

there is no debate double jumpfags

S L I D E

slide jump

Dash is only good if you can clamber, double jump beats it if not

parry counters with extremely tight timings and insane damage bonuses

Attached: wallcling.jpg (640x480, 225K)

Unironically no doublejump.

shell jumps

Fast travel teleportation...to the drive-thru

First person backflip.

Just a regular ass jump. Double jumps are either easy mode or always used for max distance. At either point you might as well just get good at regular jumping.

Walljumping
but not the baby kind where you slide down the wall, the shit you have to time like in Super Metroid and SM64
>tfw getting power bombs super early by walljumping up red tower

Attached: 1561063959203.png (720x900, 1.04M)

Coptering.

Vertical > horizontal

Quick turn

jumping is the for fags
gimme a running charge that gets progressively faster

vault into bullet time

can you tell what game i just finished playing

Based.

Double jumps are a crutch for game devs to ignore solid level design.

oh yeah? Well what are you going to do when you've ran as far as you can on that wall?

Conkers BFD.

double jump -> dash(resets jump) -> jump -> some form of attack which let's you hover for a little

Grappling to enemies to launch yourself in midair

Crouch jumping

nope. hint is china.

Goddamn, I want a Big mac now

don't worry user, I got the joke

Flying/gliding

every mechanic in GunZ

Dash Jump.

For me, it's the buttslap

Attached: buttslap.png (540x226, 48K)

Not sure if he initially meant it, but I imagined 8-way air dash like MVC which can act as a double jump. Or you get something like attack-cancel airdash stuff that lets you infinitely dash-hover through the air and sequence break the game slightly.

Bullet jumping, air rolling (as retarded as it sounds/looks)

is that bloody CHASER

Grappling hook. Bonus points if you can swing on it.

double jumps are the mark of a bad 3d platformer usually
instead of having interesting movement mechanics they just put in a gay extra jump

McDonald's

For me, it’s Gear Durability.

I think weapon/armor durability is one of the best, most creative mechanics ever created in gaming. Can you think of anything more fun than using gear with poor stats while saving all your good gear just to out-level them, making them useless, then repeating for the whole game? Or the massive fun of having to waste your hard earned gold on upkeeping your weapons because the devs couldn’t think of any other way to have the player spend money?

wall climb, wall run, or wall jump

weird how a lot of games for a while didn't even let you jump at all. seems that it's changing again
though

Even more kink if you can use that hook to pull in small enemies/pull yourself towards big enemies

*kino

High Jump in Metroidvanias

Free aim grappling hook.

Extending jumps by using certain attacks/abilities.

unf

Bunny hopping

parry

or if you want something platforming-related, rush/sprint, that can be activated/deactivated in mid-jump a la Super Meat Boy

"No"

Was pleased to find a little of this on genesis castlevania.

Jumps are already extremely interesting though, with all the ways they can be changed. Double jumps multiply that vastly based on the initial jump.

It motherfucking is.

>jumping
You are like a little baby, allow me to demonstrate. Also for a platforming game that relies entirely on a single mechanic this game was fun as fuck and had a ton of replay value. It also came out just before the flood of indie retro pixel trash so it was criticized less heavily for it.

Conservation of momentum.

health regeneration, time progression

The gravity rush float, launch, into a slide. Awkward at first, but God tier movement once mastered.

For me, it's the McChicken.

>game lets you purchase a quadruple jump
>it's actually required for a mid-game story mission

Attached: Turtletank.jpg (300x424, 21K)

russenduck/double duck
strafing (air control)
long-jumping (because of strafing)

Intruder is amish right? no other way to explain the beard.

You know people can just grow those, right?

people can also choose to dress in a wide hat and duster, but ill always assume theyre amish

Fuck yeah! Original Rayman!

Why not both?

Double jump and air combos are the best mechanics games can have.

/thread

Amish people don't even wear dusters and they don't grow mustaches. There's even a reason for that, mustaches were required on British soldiers and the Amish intentionally don't have them to distance themselves from men of war.

Tank controls with slow acceleration and separate crosshairs.

shooting
driving
looting

Double jump ruined platform level design. Now every jump is easy.

parry

That doesn't really make any sense. If the levels aren't pushing you to make proper use of the double jump to proceed then it's the fault of the level design not working around the mechanics.

Pissing,especially as an attack.

Hi-jump

permadeath

fall

damn right, ya fat cunt, not unless ye wall jump.

I unronically love gear durability, it makes me feel that much more immersed and depending on the game. I also like games where shit cost a lot and you barely have enough money to buy one thing. Planning on doing a modded skyrim run soon where I limit my carry weight to 110 or 120.

found the nigger

Feels so good holy shit, what are some gains with wall cling that feels weighted such as megaman X?

i made it to Mars and then dropped the game lol

Getting dubs

What is even the point of double jump? Why not make a single jump higher if the point is to get to a higher point by jumping twice or don't base your levels around needing to get that high.

The answer is wall jumping, and I can't believe an NES Batman game perfected it.

I'm a big fan of shinesparking.
Kind of a shame that the only games the really have it are metoids.

Ladies. And. Gentlemen. Listeners of all ages. I present to you. Walking amongst us. The once. And future. Bad. Ass.

Double Jump
Wall Jump
Parry
Slow motion evade/roll
Down Jump / Bounce
Wall climbing/running

But my favorite one is not action related and it's a motherfucking real time clock.

Super extra points if you can grapple onto nearly any surface.

I've never seen a better use of walljumping than in Super Metroid. Shit, the game's 25 years old and created walljumping almost from scratch, why is it that no one can do it better?
