What is your favorite way to control a horse in video games?

Seems like every game does it a bit different. What do you think feels the best?:
>press button to set speed, horse goes that speed, slows down if you change direction (SotC)
>tap once every few seconds to spur the horse and keep it moving (MGSV)
>hold the button and the horse follows the path (Witcher 3)
>tap button constantly to go fast on the horse (Red Dead Redemption 2)
>hold forward and steer horse with the camera (Skyrim)
>others (? Post here if another game does it better or different)

unironically rdr2
it's the first game where a horse felt like an animal and not a motorbike

The one time I went horse riding you didn't need to constantly spur the horse to keep it at speed. If you leaned forward in the saddle it would maintain speed and if you leaned back it would slow down. I don't know if that's the usual way it goes but that's my experience with horse riding so I don't like it when games make you constantly tap a button to keep the horse moving.

>t. never rode a real horse in his life

realistically, how much do you have to spur it?

if you're racing him like a maniac like you do in games, a fair amount, but not every second. And riding is much more about rytham and balance, and fucking strenght.

The horse I was on sure looked like a real horse. And it was a lot fucking bigger than I thought it was going to be too. I'm no manlet but every horse I've seen in a film only goes up to the actors' shoulders. In real life they tower over you.

>tap once every few seconds to spur the horse and keep it moving (MGSV)
>tap button constantly to go fast on the horse (Red Dead Redemption 2)
>hold the button and the horse follows the path (Witcher 3)
Those sounds obnoxious as fuck.

Definitely Agro. I like the leisure of being able to just sit back as the horse does the work. I like that I can just point it toward a cliff and she does the work. It wouldn't work for a really fast paced game, but it's solid and really fun even in the fights that require mounted archery or jumping from horseback.
