Wind Waker? Speedrunners use a similar exploit where they pause while creating backwards momentum, which somehow adds speed, and since Link doesn't have a speed cap when moving backwards you can add insane levels of speed on your backwards momentum, then when you finally unpause you fly backwards really far if done right.
