But the game's soundtrack is praised for its usage (more so over-reliance, really) of motifs when the Mother games did the same thing, but in a much more tasteful manner. Hardware is important to note because UT's compositions and variations aren't any stronger on paper, but they're incredibly cleanly produced pieces, which I'll credit without hesitation. The Mother titles won't get the same credit for their transformation of themes as UT does simply because it's not as easy to digest and listen to the themes. Sure, people who really care can do it, but the casual listener? Not so much. Like I said, my problem with the idea of UT being a 10/10 is less about the soundtrack itself, but more about the pompousness of the post. "Half the thread is shit, but this decent soundtrack that's praised for performing an idea that's been done before with better writing, but not so clean production is a real 10/10" rubs me the wrong way.
