It's pretty much just a remix of the DmC Vergil fight, so no not really.
It's really good, but too easy among other things.
Dante version, yes. They're each fighting to kill. Nero version? No. Nero says
>Dante's not gonna die here, and neither are you.
So there is less at stake. The themes of family ring too hollow for lines like
>You feeling accepting yet?
>Of your existence, or your strength?
>Both you fucking asshole!
to actually hold weight.
Uh, you mean the DMC3 Vergil fight, user. Cos if it was a remix of DmC's fight it'd be shit.
It's DmC Vergil except made competently. Not as good as DMC3 Vergil 3 but I think that has mostly to do with how style switching makes Dante way too OP, and DMC5 Vergil has no fuck-you combos that require specific timing to avoid like the helmsplitter into stinger that he always did in 3.
Although I really liked it, it felt more like a family discussion than anything else.
Usually you explain final boss fights with things like "saving the world", and not "deadbeat dad appears after years and his brother jumps on him, his son tried to stop then over but end up fighting with deadbeat dad as well. After some heated discussion, now they are all on speaking terms".
No, and it never was. Vergil never stood out to me in DMC3, and nobody else mentioned it until 10+ years later.
That and Vergil 3 has far better music.

It's just so lame.
This made no fucking sense to me. They basically dump the Credo and family shit at the very end after Dante reveals Nero's parentage and Vergil literally finds out like half a minute before Nero arrives that he has a son, so there's no point in the deadbeat dad beatdown lines like you said.
To easy, vergil needs to be faster, shit on nero any time he even touches his buster, and above all incorporate some power from his time as UrReason
DmCfag is still butthurt
Yeah it was heavy-handed as hell. Too much time spent on V.
yes.
DMD Vergil was super disappointing after seeing that SoS Vergil actually got a lot of new stuff. I was expecting lightning fast summon sword spam everywhere instead of the same shit that you just use to build free RG and DT so you can beat his ass with SDT
No, it's too easy and there's no stakes, M20 was a mistake
>not liking the duel
shit taste
>instead of the same shit that you just use to build free RG
Whyyyyy did they do this. It's so fucking stupid. Did Itsuno have the day off and he told some random dev on the team to have at it?
Nero and Vergil fight was just Nero getting payback at Vergil, it was meant as a sort of conclusion.
Yeah the Duel is a super underwhelming and kind of cheesy track.
There's no drama or finality to it unlike with any of the Vergil Battle tracks from DMC3.
It's ok at best.
The health pool is bloated as fuck
That's exactly my feeling on it. The Duel has no drama, no gravitas. All the techno wubs and woobs don't evoke theatricality like orchestra does.
I think Itsuno made the whole Vergil arc not as a conclusion to a saga or some dramatic final confrontation, but just as a way to reintroduce Vergil into the cast for possible sequels. It was okay but even the game tells you there's no reason to fight and it would be pretty disappointing if this was the final game in the franchise.
If DMC5's fight is supposed to be a remix of Vergil 3 they really failed. Hard.
Which it is.
The Dual is kino fuck off
>but even the game tells you there's no reason to fight
Ehh there's a real disconnect between that, and what actually happens in the game. Vergil's actions caused the destruction of an entire city; hundreds of thousands of people. I felt he absolutely deserved to die, but everyone else just sorta forgives him.
>The entire decade plus of waiting was just to get a cheap reintroduction for Vergil
Honestly, just give me an action game. Stop blowing so much of the dev time and budget on these retarded as fuck plots that go no where. This is two games in a row now where the story was about fuck-all and lead to fuck-all, doing little other than to fudge characterization and introduce pointless newcomers.
All I want from DMC6 is Bloody Palace with all the weapons from DMC1, 3 and 4. No more half-assed new characters. No more retarded fucking story. No retarded face scans. No retarded sentai mocap shit. I just want all the effort put into the game. Because everything else is a giant letdown.
Not to play Vergil apologist, but Vergil didn't really know that was gonna happen. Not that he'd change his actions if he knew, but still.
Yeah, although as says, it's not really meant to be a dramatic final battle between Dante and Vergil like DMC3's was, but more a duel sort of for "fun", maybe, hence the title.
But Nero stopping them implies they are trying to kill each other. Or maybe the implication is supposed to be that even if they're fighting for the hell of it, they're gonna end up killing each other on accident? It's not 100% clear.
Bing Bong Morihashi can't fucking write is why.
>bring him back and flesh out his characterization just to kill him
right
Yeah but in this case, it's not even that they forgive him, they seem to pretend nothing happened at all which is why Nero is more pissed at him being a deadbeat than murdering thousands and Dante is spending wacky woohoo adventures in hell time with him
Didn't beat the GOAT action game final boss
I play DMC5 Bloody Palace every day and thoroughly enjoy it, user.
Yeah it all comes off as hugely discordant. It's one of my favorite games in years, I do indeed play it every day, but the story is just a fucking mess.
looks like they wanted to kill each other at first but after nero stopped them, they look like they're just fighting because autism.
I liked this a lot, after going through all the shit in 4 and losing his family figure in Credo, he gains a new family in the form of his father and Dante, who then proceed to do what they've always done, try to kill each other
The drama is in the player as Dante trying to beat the shit out of Vergil, where we get our satisfying (opinion) 1-on-1 Vergil battle, and with Nero in trying to stop his new family from breaking itself apart again
I figure they just kind of absolve Vergil of his guilt on the basis that his humanity (V) tried to stop his demonic power (Urizen), and the two only came about because he needed to stop himself from fucking dying
Though he definitely didn't show much remorse in the final moments, but then, he is Vergil and Dante was trying to kill him
They're fighting because that's what they do
Every time they meet in DMC3 they fight
Yeah if only DMC5 didn't rush towards its conclusion just to meet the 20 missions criteria. I mean, that's what it feels like.
Fucking hell it's been 10 years since DMC4, and again the story is split up for three characters this time too, one of which isn't very fun to play. I wish it had had 25 missions.
Step up.

Get ready not to get any of that, they're of course continuing from 5 as they have already mentioned before.
Speaking of weird storytelling, did Dante know V was Vergil the whole time? I thought it was pretty obvious that Dante did know and that V told him straight up at the beginning but then there's the moment where Dante said he noticed something was off with V's demons and the fact that he laughed off his evil twin brother attempting to stab him through the brain with Sparda without suspecting any ulterior motive to the point where he allows V to approach Urizen with no hesitation.
I do agree with this a lot, 3 warriors and the diverging points felt like they could've been much more fleshed out, with diverging points being one mission that's different depending on the character you choose
overall if they bring back multiple characters I'm fine with having V as an option for the people who like him, but for god's sake give us the option to pick any character for any mission
Play on anything else than easy mode
>Devil Sword Sparda is replaced
What the fuck I liked it instead I get this press f to combo shit. does it come back?
post yfw youtube.com
whats a good mission to practice?
When you beat the game you can select Rebellion, Devil Sword Dante, or Devil Sword Sparda to take into battle. Where are my Rebellion chads at?
You can use any sword after you clear it once but on DMD, SDT is pretty much a requirement if you don't want to be mashing for 10 minutes straight on every big enemy
his fights in three were better. the fight with nero was pretty kino though.
Bloody Palace.
You can activate SDT without DSD, no? Lets me do it in BP.
STANDING HERE
Tfw a non Kojima game had the best hoss and characters than the Kojima games.
This thread lacks Dante
>They're fighting because that's what they do
That's sort of a cop out, user. Dante tried to save Vergil at the end of DMC3.
>V was Vergil the whole time
would be great if they addressed this in an upcoming manga chapter
I didn't really understand V's motives. It looks like he's trying to kill Urizen but they end up fusing to become Vergil again. But Vergil is presumably still the same power hungry Vergil from before, so I took from that that V still felt the same towards Dante as he did as Vergil and deliberately fused with Urizen. Unless the idea is that he just didn't know that would happen. lmao
Maybe? There's that moment after Urizen was down for the count when he realized what V was going to do with him he tried to stop him from reuniting
he didnt want to die,so he wanted to fuse back together, whats so hard to understand
Man I was writing out a long post but pretty much summed it up.
I don't take it as a cop-out at all, it's literally their entire characters and they've honestly just come to accept it, especially at the end once they're in hell together, and they've finally just accepted it
I hate to say it but having a brother myself makes me really understand and adore it and that might not get through to everyone
Of course Dante tried to save Vergil, he didn't want him to die and get stuck in hell on his own, because they may fight but they're still brothers and they both do care for each other in their own ways
I think V knew Urizen needed to be stopped, but at the same time he wasn't going to let a whole bunch of demonic power just slip through his grasp when he could claim it as his own, which tracks with Vergil's characterization as being split between his humanity while still chasing demonic power, vs Dante chasing humanity while still coming to terms with his power (which culminates in DSD and SDT)
>take Vergil 1
>give him some Vorgil moves
>call it a final boss
Nope, Vergil was anticlimactic as all hell and his boss fight is incredibly simple.
>it's literally their entire characters
It is not. Dante tries to save Vergil at the end of DMC3.
>and they've honestly just come to accept it
Because cop out writing. The proof is you writing this sentence for fuck's sake. Nothing ever "just" happens.
So he's not really worried about Urizen as a dangerous entity or the job really, but about the time he has left to fuse back together with him and not die.
I guess that makes sense.
>Dante tried to save Vergil at the end of DMC3
and that doesn"t really change anything. dante just found out his brother is back and instead of talking it out they fight
he is worried and the guilt is real, but not enough for him to want to die for his actions, he spent a month saving Redgrave civilians even at the cost of his own lifespan, but when actually facing death with an opportunity to survive, he took it
Don't build up the royal guard gauge at all during the fight. Only use royal release, even when you have nothing. Makes it way more fun.
I was gonna write another long post but did it again.
>Play on anything else than easy mode
He doesn't really get any harder. He just gets more and more health and does more damage.
just because they fight but one tried to save the other doesn't mean the two are mutually exclusive user, read the rest of my post
Dante can't let Vergil die because he's his brother, but Vergil is always doing some shit that puts him at odds with Dante, meaning they fight and it goes on and on
>nothing ever "just" happens
and throughout all of DMC3 and 5 nothing has "just" happened, they've both gone literally through hell and back by the end of 5 and they've developed as characters and they both accept that this is what they're about
the difference is at the end in the credits fight in hell, they're not fighting for the fate of the world but rather because they straight up do enjoy it now, and are able to set aside their fight for long enough to take care of the other problem that crops up, and yet still compete with each other
it's called character development my guy, and a very similar thing (which you could fairly argue is lazy) happened in DMC3 with Arkham, before they turned against each other again, except that time the stakes were still very high
>DMC5 comes out after 10 fucking years with most of the original team and cast back
>Ree too much fan-service stop pandering so much Itsuno.
Fuck you faggots, if Vergil hadn't the final boss you would all have been here bitching about it instead. You don't know what you want.
100% this, Urizen was a shit villain and Vergil was the proper sendoff
is there really such simpletons that can't even understand dmc5's story?
>Urizen as a dangerous entity or the job really
personally I think it's a bit of both, throughout the game you hear him worried about urizen gaining more power and destroying the city even more
he air combos you, has a variation on his main combo, has different summoned sword attacks like the one where they rain down on you, varies up his judgment cut finishers, judgment cut end is smaller but much quicker, and DT mode throws a whole bunch of new judgment cut timings and summoned swords at you
You keep on making these threads every day, and soon you'll end up in trash next to fujojo general where you belong, you fucking degenerates. You think people don't notice the rampant faggotry in these threads?
How the fuck did Platinum make every humanoid boss in the game a 10/10?
>it's a shame there were so many good bosses
>people are saying the vergil final boss and buildup could have been better
>this somehow translates into us not wanting vergil at all
okay
I agree, mostly because I think DMC's story is too far gone to be even decent anymore. Too much desperation to keep Nero relevant in power level, too much adding one-off characters with absolutely no depth while leaving the establish cast that isn't Nero to be forever cardboard cutouts of characters.
>mfw some anons see a sibling rivalry as some entirely foreign concept that makes no sense
Didn't even notice these desu. He's so fucking slow and randomly stands around to just get hit in the face, regardless of difficulty.
These people complain about the story and yet they can't understand subtle nuance, it's not like this is 2deep4u shit.
Ah, so it's a little bit of everything. Yeah, makes sense.
well I'm the guy who posted the second post and like let's face it, if Vergil hadn't been the final boss it would have been wrong, straight-up
but you're right too, the game and leadup to Vergil did feel a bit rushed and like they could have done better, but I'm still happy with what we got
you didnt play on DMD did you
It's a mix of DMC3 Vergil 2 and DmC Vergil. I think it's far inferior to Credo or Vergil 3, but it's decent.
Any modding anons willing to take a request? Vergils DMC5 boss has 3 phases so i thought it would be cool if someone could mod the music so phase 1 is vergil battle 1 from dmc3, phase 2 was battle 2 and phase 3 was battle 3, like how its done in this video youtube.com
I'm inept so if any modder thinks this is a cool idea then feel free to do it
Most definitely not. Literally just a significantly worse version of Vergil 3 mixed with fedora Vergil. It didn't do anything new and failed to live up to what it was aping.
>DMC3 Vergil 2 and DmC Vorgil
It's more like a slightly watered-down Vergil 3, he never uses any fist attacks on you and he has a lot of things that call back to Vergil 3 without being quite as difficult
Something I like more about DMC3 Vergil fights is that he has actual combos where you need to dodge the different attacks, in 5 he relies too much on Judgement cut-Judgement cut-Judgement cut, Rapid slash-Rapid slash-Rapid slash over and over. You can just dodge his ground combo once and stay back while he flails away.
and how is it worse user?
The ones complaining about fanservice are probably newfags who started with 4.
that I can agree with, vergil 3 in DMC3 gave you absolutely no breathing room while in DMC5, he becomes open after every single attack and you can juggle him for ages with no immediate counter attack
like in DMC3, you could attack him but if you don't get the fuck out the second he parries you, you're eating half a health bar's worth of damage immediately, but in DMC5, he just goes HUUUUUUAAAAGGGH and flies back to reset to a neutral position
Simple, they just focused the game on them. That's really it. Gave them lots of personality as well. And on some level I think it's easier for people to connect with a human character than some ranting demon.
Personally, I don't think DMC should have ever stepped away from its recurring boss fights than 1 established. DMC3 did this with Vergil, made three boss fights revolving around him and Dante, and surprise surprise he's one of the most popular bosses in the series.
no, not even the best fight in its own game
No.
>Angelo Credo
>Vergil 3
>Armstrong
>Umbra Witch Jeanne
>Masked Lumen 2
>Any given Dark Souls series fight that's not awful
not him but the main thing is that it's way too easy, slow, and exploitable with royal guard and SDT, there's nothing that catches you off guard except maybe the first judgment cut end he does on SoS where the cast time is like 3x shorter than on DH
>Ree just swallow everything given to you
>Ree never critique
Literal fanboyism but I expect nothing less from you people. Who fucking cares if it took 10 years to make a sequel, why does it get a free pass on everything just because of the time gap? Funny thing is DMC3 showed you can have a decent story with fanservice (DMC3 is basically DMC1 fanservice, the game).
I did, which is why I know he's only hard because it becomes a tedious fight against a damage sponge boss that barely does anything different at all.
DMC5 DMD is probably the easiest DMD mode so far.
Oh no, it's the DoA avatarcuck again.
Definitely agreed with this, everything he did in 5 felt like there was one "answer" to it, whether it just be guarding or dodging at a pattern, and if you land your hit you get to do some damage and then reset
3 was much more varied in his approaches so you had to read, react, and execute rather than just rinse and repeat for whatever pattern he chose
I think their problem was that they tried recurring bosses with big demons and got some negative feedback so they didn't see it as something to use again EXCEPT with Vergil
lord knows I didn't want to fight Urizen the second third or fourth times for fuck's sake, what a chore
>DMC3 is DMC1 fanservice the game
fucking hardly user, it was a prequel and had to come up with a ton of new shit, there was no Trish, no Sparda sword, no Mundus except for the tease at the end
>nero
lmao fuck no
I'm convinced only brainlets actually enjoy DMC5's story complete fucking garbage.
DMC3:
>The sibling rivalry is a direct result of Vergil and Dante's contrasting paths in life
>Vergil lust for power and Dante's responsability drive them to face each other
>Dante grows into a mature man who feels responsible towards mankind
>Vergil realizes that there's more to power than just pure might and accepts his defeat at the hands of his far more humane brother
DMC5
>Vergil has mommy issues
>Him and Dante are destined to fight because that's what the fanbase expects them to do (by far the worst sin any writer can commit: letting fan expectations write the story)
>Vergil murders an entire town of innocents to revive himself
>Dante is ok with it and they go hang out in hell.
It's borderline character assassination
He really doesn't change that much at all compared to earlier incarnations. He's not even that aggressive.
It doesn't help that in DMC5 almost everything he does gets completely countered by just dashing to the right and then hitting him.
I would've liked an original final boss again, something more like Mundus and not shit like fucking Sanctus or that thing from DMC2.
Vergil is good, but I was fine with the conclusion from DMC3 and 1. Urizen would've been lame, if they needed to bring him back they could've had Vergil and Dante team up for a new enemy after settling their rivalry again.
I still think the series went down a strange road by having Nero be Vergil's son. It doesn't really fit Vergil and barely fits into the timeline.
But yeah with DMC4 and Nero they kind of wrote themselves into a corner, which they fixed now as best as they probably could.
If your complaints about the story are just REEE VERGIL KILLED DEH NPC's, kys man.
>fucking hardly
>Yamato
>Public Enemy on the jukebox in Mission 3
>Force Edge
>Vergil's secret ending
>Nelo Angelo Devil Trigger
>Vergil using Dante's weapon switch animation from DMC1 in Vergil 2
>Dante's ending culminating in DMC1 Dante
I could go on, DMC3 was made under the assumption you actually played DMC1.
Why is this description so cool?
Than Vergil 3? First it's much easier overall, Vergil is much slower in this game, the mechanics are more lenient and his attack patterns are all...i can't think of the word, fixed? standardized? There is no element of randomness like there is with Vergil 3's bullshit setups. Other than that the arena looks bland and is gigantic for no reason, the music is awful as with the rest of the game, even the little things like the way he floats like he is on the moon or the waste of time "fly around for a bit" attack detract from it. Vergil in this game in general feels like a low battery parody of his 3 self.
It's not a bad boss, but it's not great either and for the hyped up "final battle" it's a resounding meh.
>it's the vfag again
remember not to reply
>The prequel leads to the game it's a prequel to by using things from the original.
You don't fucking say?
Am I the only person that hates dialogue during gameplay? I hate how the boss and player talk to each other only to be cut off at each line because you always end up triggering the next too early. It was ass in DmC, and it was ass in DMC5.
Looking smug there,Vergil
Yeah, it's called fanservice, one day you'll catch up.
What the fuck is wribg with you people not being able to take ANY criticism of the game and defleting it all to some made up strawman instead: What the fuck is a vfag even.
God some of you people are legit fucking pathetic. "OH LOOK SOMEONE POINTED OUT FLAWS, HE MUST BE PART OF SOME CONSPIRACY".
Motherfucker, DMC5's writing is fucking shit. The lack or inertia and floaty physics objectively hurt to gameplay. The lack of a turbo mode is absurd and pathetic. There's NO extra content, no costumes (Somthing every game had up to now, including DMC2 and DmC), the entire game is grey and has no color.
boss banter is great but it was executed poorly in DMC5, especially after unlocking SDT where you blow past dialogue triggers and getting hit cuts you off and moves on to the next line as if nothing happened
>It's not about loss, strength i-
>DANTEEEEEEEEEE
>What the fuck is wribg with you people not being able to take ANY criticism of the game and defleting it all to some made up strawman instead
It's so sad
what game?
DMC4 didn't get costumes until 8 years later.
You repeat the same fucking thing over again, people have refuted you before but you keep posting your constant greentext list every single time. And you don't even mention anything about gameplay in your list its always about the fucking story and how vergil is ebil. Give it a rest.
>"Where did you learn to count? We're even!"
>Vergil1 victor: Vergil
>Vergil2 victor: draw
>Vergil3 victor: Dante
>Angelo1: Vergil
>Angelo2: Dante
>Angelo3: Dante
>Duel: Vergil
>Epilogue: Dante
>End Total:
Dante: 4
Vergil: 3
dude I agree with you for the most part but the boogeyman deflection is such a common fucking thing that getting mad about it will only encourage them to double down
To be honest it was a little underwhelming, mostly because it wasn't dramatic enough. Vergil's battle track in 5 is also lacking compared to Devil's Never Cry or Divine Hate.
Ur reason ?
duel was a draw, both were winded and made a final clash before nero interrupted
and they've probably been fighting for a while in hell and the score is only for after they went to hell
He's not even the best boss of the month his game came out.
Not him but calling these losers out on the boogieman shit is the only course of action to take. If you ignore it they will just keep doing it until all discourse is gone. It's how things got this bad, people playing along with it.
>ur reason
I meant the first battle where Dante lost btw
Yes, it's the best Vergil fight in the entire series from a gameplay perspective.
Vergil 3 is better and Nelo 3 is more dangerous because of his raw damage output and clash mechanic.
>Mission prior to Vergil's has Dante fighting Nightmare, Griffon, and Shadow
>Each fight had a remix of their respective DMC1 themes
>Vergil's final boss theme wasn't a remix of Ultra Violet
you didnt see all the other fights they had in hell when they were bored
Vergil 3 is too limited in what you can do to him. You can't even launch him into the air.
>Vergil murders an entire town of innocents to revive himself
>Dante is ok with it and they go hang out in hell.
Dante is an anti-hero, he doesn't really give a fuck about humans dying, only the ones he care about. Vergil always had mommy issues.
>he doesn't really give a fuck about humans dying, only the ones he care about.
wow, is this the power of the dmc fanbase?
>not "him"
he/you just got triggered because I was right and I called him a vfag
never talks about gameplay just about how bad the story is.
didn't even reply to my post when I mentioned that
>Vergil in 5 is better because you can now treat him like a juggling ragdoll for about 2 seconds
I completely forgot about Urizen
>Urizen1: Vergil
>Urizen2: Vergil
>Urizen3: Dante
Putting the score at
Vergil: 5
Dante: 5
So Vergil is in fact correct. My bad.
Launching Vergil legit feels wrong.
the launch was implemented shittily with wonky physics and the fact that Vergil needs time to recover after you hit his damage threshold makes the fight 100x less threatening than Vergil 3, it's overall a non-issue unless you really like getting off a single air combo mash on him with DSD because nothing else really works effectively except maybe Cerberus
oh fuck off that was his whole arc in 3
>muh cawmboes!
All the best action game bosses prioritize defense. It's what they can do to you that makes them great, not what you can do to them
Vergil did the same thing in 3 and yet Dante tried to save him. He's the only family he has left course he wouldn't give a fuck.
i'm noticing DMC fanboys are as bad as weeb / anime consumers when it comes to loving garbage writing
I don't quite get what you mean by that, retard. I'm only saying how the character behave through the entire series. Dante never gave a fuck about humans dying to demons, the only time he cried was for Vergil and Trish, both demons.
>I don't quite get what you mean by that
nobody is surprised, user.
Shut the fuck up with your strawmaning you underage.
Ok, is that all?
He didn't reply to your post becauase you didn't really post anything outside of your schizophrenia.
don't know what you mean, most people here agree that the story has a lot of problems, I think most players don't really think about the story and only remember the highs of "OH FUCK VERGIL'S BACK" and realize it's not that great if you actually get into a discussion instead of devolving to throwing shit at each other from the get-go
>>muh cawmboes!
>in a DMC thread
You lost or something?
I have irl examples too, DMC fanboys are just rejects & retards and there's nothing you can do to convince me otherwise.
I felt the banter was kind of weak and tryhard-ish in DMC5.
I laugh every time I play DMC1. The lines from Dante to Phantom and Griffon are so cheesy and the delivery is funny as fuck. But it's charming because it's Dante being his dramatic self with full confidence and it doesn't feel forced. He cares, but he talks shit and is unafraid.
Same in DMC3 really but he's more angry and has more to prove because he's a sort of disillusioned young adult.
In DMC5 it's like there's an invisible audience Dante is playing to all the time by acting apathetic towards his enemies. Don't know how to explain it really. It's just kind of dull and one-note.
I think it also has to do with Langdon's vs. Coomb's voices and delivery.
But I liked the way Langdon did it in 3 and 4 a lot too.
I don't watch anime or play stylish action games for deep Shakespearean writing.
Dante in 5 sounded like he was out of breathe in every cutscene
Rank Boss Fights
Vergil (Dante > Nero) > Cavaliere Angelo > King Cerberus > Urizen (Mission 17) > Malphas > Artemis > V's Familiars > Elder Geryon Knight > Goliath > Urizen (Mission 12) >Nidhogg > Qliphoth Roots
It's not like you can do anything interesting by launching him. He just recoils and recovers after a few hits. DMC3's Vergil retaliates immediately after you get your hits in. The fights in 3 are so much more fast-paced it's insane.
>reply is nothing of substance
I expected better than namecalling
Nah, the duel shits all over it
>How much longer areyougonna keep ZAPPING. Come out and SHHHHOW YOURSELF MUNDUS!
>The best DMC fight doesn't bank on the boss being a punching bag that randomly hits back.
Which is why it's the best.
>no one replies to his post
>resorts to spamming the thread with his shit opinion
>n DMC5 it's like there's an invisible audience Dante is playing to all the time by acting apathetic towards his enemies.
It honestly felt like they were trying to emulate Bayonetta's interactions with enemies, the just did it poorly.
Why would anyone come into a thread about a game he hates just to keep screeching how bad it is around the people that liked the game?
Nope, you're forced to play it on normal for your first time and his AI is brain dead on anything below DMD; all they had to do was copy paste DMC3's final fight with some new moves but instead we got this lame finish.
It was pretty lame even on DMD mode, not gonna lie. And you do it TWICE in a row
Drew has a great voice, he just needed better directing and a much better translated script. I'm 100% sure the "zapping" should have been "sapping"
I made this a while ago
I disagree, the dialogue with Urizen/Vergil was great, and also with Cavaliere where he just talks to Trish and ignore small-fry Cavaliere entirely.
Yeah seriously, that's a big part of it.
>It's been a bashhhhh...
It doesn't make him sound cool at all. It makes him sound like he doesn't give a shit at all.
i mean it's cinematic and all but in terms of gameplay and attack patterns its kinda lame
Same reason that DmCfag like talking about how much he likes the reboot. For the (you)s
i did notice that dante always breathed out the last syllable of every sentence. weird
Stop calling the final fight against Vergil underwhelming.
Nico, Griffon and Nero's bantz were good.
Dante and Vergil bantz were good towards the end of the game.
Urizen was alright, some of his lines sounded weird.
>makes him sound like he doesn't give a shit at all
He's a guy who loves fighting but became unbeatable, it makes sense; I would have preferred happy Dante though.
Man Bolverk is easily the most disappointing thing about 2, everything about him is just Nelo Angelo but worse.
>Only fought twice
>Too much of a bitch to fight on his own needs shitty wolf adds that don't even try to hit Dante
>Enemy file has snippets of a backstory that could have lead to fun banter between him and Dante but he never says a damned thing
>DMC2's shitty mechanics make fighting him incredibly unsatisfying
>who cares
>The Despair
He at least goes in B-A Tier.
If you played the series before it was though, regardless of what some youtuber said; it was all flash and no substance, his AI should have been more aggressive.
Alright.
It's flat.
I feel like calling it underwhelming isn't even an insult, it's still a great fight and would be a 8-9/10 in any other game. It's just that a combination of it being directly comparable to Vergil 3 and the fact that so many were ultra hyped while playing it initially because of the novelty of "HOLY FUCKING SHIT I'M FIGHTING VERGIL AGAIN" creates a lot of discord if you examine it for real
his royalguard call out imo sounded extremely strange even from the first time using it
>ROYAL GUH-HAAAAARRRd
If Mundus returns I hope they make his fight cool as hell, including Vergil and dante fighting him together.
Yeah Reuben is one of those VAs that always seem to exhale way to hard at the end of each line. Once you hear it you can never unhear it.
No and it's why i said it but a lot if not most of the bosses in the series follow standard action game conventions. The fanbase considers the Vergil fights in 3 to be some of the best in the series if not the best and i doubt it's because you can CAWMBO with dive kick spam so that user is the odd one out.
Mundus was kind of ass in DMC1 so there's a lot less room for disappointment
>It makes him sound like he doesn't give a shit at all.
how? dante never shows respect to demons he fights, that why him even doing it a little is so impactful. You people do not get subtext at all
>Vergil has mommy issues
He has always had mommy/daddy issues both of them do its one of the main driving points.
>Him and Dante are destined to fight because that's what the fanbase expects them to do (by far the worst sin any writer can commit: letting fan expectations write the story)
Bullshit V says they fight to "see ones justice through" not because they are "destined for it" he basically says that the reason Dante and Vergil have chose to exist either to protect humanity or to gain power contradict each other and force them to fight for their justice/reason to exist even if they are brothers
>Vergil murders an entire town of innocents to revive himself
He did this in DMC3 and its pretty normal especially since Urizen was all of Vergils bad qualities hiked to 11
>Dante is ok with it and they go hang out in hell.
Being able to forgive someone =/= being okay with it, for one they never really talk about it after the fight with Nero as they both decide to deal with the qliphoth after, not only that but Vergils action never caused Dante to hate him which is why he cried when he thought he died in DMC3
>It's borderline character assassination
Its really not
I cant even remember the fight, mega generic boring fight.
The biggest poser in this entire genre.
...
It was an okay fight for the story development they aimed with 5, but as a fan I expected more. They should've made his final fight in the underworld epilogue instead.
>"Come here and face me like a man, boy!"
youtube.com
>yfw first playthrough
>You people do not get subtext at all
are you fucking for real or am I being baited hard, the line he quoted was Dante speaking to Griffon who he was explicitly showing respect to
Itsuno will give him qte's as a throwback to krillin may cry
the subtext is that he never shows demons he fights respect which is why him doing it to griffon is more impactful
>mfw
>ZAPPING
The choice of words gets me every time.
Could be that he means "zapping" referring to his lightning powers? Or sapping or yapping because he talks too much?
Zapping is way funnier though.
And yeah his voice is great, and I think his acting as well. He hits the serious notes and the funny ones perfectly.
The LIIIIIGHT scene genuinely breaks my heart every time, even if it's also hilarious. I feel like being able to get something like that out of a piece of art is some of the best entertainment you can get and a huge achievement for the creators.
Man, if only Coombs had been in more stuff from DMC1 and on. I love Langdon but I wonder what the series would be like if Coombs had been brought back each time instead.
>dante never shows respect to demons he fights
You don't remember Dante telling Griffon to give up because of how injured he was in DMC1?
Yes, the dialogue and characters in 5 are 100% forced. They try so hard it's cringe worthy.
>don't come any closer, you devil!
But he didn't always do that is the thing! I think it's just the way he or they interpret the character now.
He also showed respect towards Nelo Angelo
>A man with guts and honour
I just think it's because the guy's older and can't voice Dante properly as he used to. But it could be a deliberating acting choice. So whatever.
There are weird pauses in all the dialogue too. It actually felt like some low-budget soap opera where characters are having conversations with camera cuts in between so that nothing flows at all.
DMC1 had no QTEs. Funny that you guys think Mundus was ass yet Urizen basically takes Mundus' concept and makes it worse by having time stop added onto it.
>first playthrough
>see first Proto Angelo as Dante
>taunt
>"Hahaha! Guts-and-Honor!"
Such a shit bossfight, don't know why DaS2fags love to bring it up
The pre-fight was one of the worst things the game had
idk, I thought Mundus was severely hampered by being stuck to the ground while you have limited control in a ring, not as bad as Savior but still not great, and almost everyone says Urizen 1 is ass but since his final form is a lot better, no one really remembers it
This.
Only thing that disappointed me about 5 is that no one told Griffon to flock off.
This. Even masked lumen 1 was a far more hype boss than Vergil 5.
Feels like Bingo gave more of a damn with Bayonetta 2 than DMC5 in the writing department.
>Urizen basically takes Mundus' concept
Wow didn't realise Urizen had a shoot'em up section and a shitty platforming area, or that he summoned dragons and had only 2 attacks.
Well, to be fair, Vergil did the same thing in DMC3 with the tower and everyone was okay with it.
I half-agree and half disagree. The little moment where Dante grabs Griffon by his chicken neck and throws him away made up for it.
Urizen layers his attacks on each other just like Mundus 2 does regardless of how different their attacks are, it's the same concept except Urizen is about 100x more annoying because of his constant time stop spam.
No one was okay with it, it's just that there's only two characters who have any reason to react to the destruction and neither Dante or Lady give a shit about randos dying at that point in life. Meanwhile in 5 you have actual people being shown dying left and right with characters like Nero voicing their displeasure at the destruction.
>mechanically slower
>exploitable as all hell
>underwhelming build up
>shit track(s)
Even Mundus was a much more memorable encounter.
You can have the greatest boss fight of all time if your over all game sucks horse dick
>I bet you taste like chicken
>The neck grab
>Getting caught in the Sin Devil Trigger explosion
Griffon abuse was some of the funniest shit in the series.
I loved it as a fanboy and it was really cathartic to see Nero take his autist father to task, in addition to getting the twins going at it again. But I understand DMC3 did the fights better and the sudden swerve to Vergil cost the first 80% of the game rather sorely
Wasn't even better than this nigga
Dante vs Virgil was better, but I can't say it's one of the greatest boss fights of all time.
Game has the best looking Judgement Cut End though.
>mechanically slower
slower but has more moves than vergil 3
>exploitable as all hell
how? his only openings are when he's sheathing yamato and when he is judgement cutting. Anything other then that takes multiple tries to find out which is takes skill
>underwhelming build up
he's was built up to since the flashback scene of him taking nero's arm, what are you talking about? he also got a sick re-entraqnce with the "alpha and omega" title card
>shit track(s)
whatever you say, but duel is dynamic for each of his phases so helps in getting you pumped up and silver bullet is high adrenaline as shit
Well, if Dante didn't give a shit in 3 why did you think he would in 5? In fact, Dante sheds tears for Vergil in the end, but he makes no mention of all the dead civies.
Mundus is like one of the best non humanoid action game bosses
>Nero voicing their displeasure at the destruction.
Nero just quips about it once in the beginning, that's hardly worth anything.
he didn't give a shit when the tower rose up, he just wanted to fight vergil
after hearing lady's speech and realizing how much of an asshole he is, he prepares to fight vergil a final time and gives his own speech about how they need to carry out their father's legacy of justice of protecting the weak
did you just completely forget about dante's entire arc in 3?
He still doesn't give a shit if he tried to save vergil, and throughout his life he was depressed because he lost him.
Even in the first novel, Vergil was an asshole who tried to kill him and Dante still cried after he realized it was him.
Fujo posting keeps most normalfags out, all those OH NO NO NO posters disappeared as soon as fujofags started spreading their autism
of course he unconditionally loves him, he's his direct family
Then he doesn't really care about civilians if his family is involved. Same thing happened with 4, having the sparda sword caused sanctus to unleash demons onto the civilians. Dante and Trish still tried to save some but it was still their fault?
caring about innocents and having feelings for a blood relative after being orphaned are not mutually exclusively no matter how much of an asshole they are
for fucks sake, sparda's entire backstory is about him rebelling against demons to protect humanity's innocents and dante goes from giving no shits about his heritage to embracing it
if you actually think that dante doesn't give a shit about innocent people dying, I don't know what you've been smoking, the only evidence that comes remotely close to that is him taking his sweet time stopping sanctus in dmc4 and that can be attributed more to the story being rushed and chopped up rather than as a statement on his character
Dante cares about civilians
Dante cares about his brother despite his evil actions
Dante doesn't stand around and let Vergil continue to kill innocents after he goes through his character development, he beats his ass and tries to prevent him from staying in hell and cries when he fails, just like how Lady cries when she kills Arkham despite him being 10x the piece of shit Vergil ever was
Vergil split himself to survive, he had no way of knowing urizen was going to murder an entire city, plus he spent an whole month evacuating people and killing demons at the cost of his own lifespan to atone for what urizen did.
it's actually unclear, everything suggests that V's plan was never to remerge with Urizen but to survive after being fucked up by Mundus, but the cutscene of the split says that the reason he split was so he would be able to defeat Dante, and I guess it's up to interpretation whether that means he wanted to get the power from the fruit or just survive in any way possible so he'd have a chance to fight Dante again
I think we all know the first 18 chapters are just an excuse plot to get Vergil back. No point in thinking too much about it
>if you actually think that dante doesn't give a shit about innocent people dying,
That's not what i'm saying, i'm saying that Dante does care but not enough to prevent sensless killings. I don't see you complaining about trish killing innocents?
No one in the sparda family is innocent. Sparda before rebelling against Mundus surely killed humans as his subordinate. Vergil is more like Sparda is his characterization than Nero, killed humans>seen the errors of his way. Dante and Vergil are the same they un intently killed civilians but Nero is the only one who hasn't and that makes him better than Sparda or any of the brothers.
No. DMC isn't best anything.
>not a new ip
sad
4chanX is broken you fucking retard
>why did vergil split himself
1/2
only if u havent been in the thread from the start, which i have
>why did v merge with urizen
2/2
there's your answer
I honestly don't get the hate for Mundus 1. It's a bit jarring at first but I'd much rather do Mundus 1 than Geryon, Akrham, or Gigapede.
DMC 3 Vergil 3 is still the best boss fight of all time
Only broken for you mate.
>manga gives a clear answer while in the game V explicitly tells you that Vergil's goal was to defeat Dante
I mean, I guess it could be V overcompensating in apologizing for how much of a shit Vergil is, but that's a great detail that could have added a lot more depth to the story only to be regulated to a side release manga
lol
No the manga also tells you that it's too defeat Dante, but that actually wasn't the only reason. I'll try to find the page.
I bet you're one of the faggots who labeled me some boogieman yesterday the minute i made the first post.
both are 10/10 and which one you like more comes down to personal preferences in whether you want a faster boss vs a boss with more moves
just start posting your "OMG DONTE IS SOO HOT GUYZ" pics and get it over with
It's hard to figure out what to do the first time you get to it, i experienced the same when i replayed the series last year an di'm sure i have forgotten it already.
>literally is
KYS you schizo
It's not as straightforward as the game actually but intention is there.
sorry you got called out for samefagging twice
it's a mediocre boss unlike Gigapede or Arkham or Savior or Agnus Window which are complete garbage, but it has the distinction of being the final boss with a deeply personal connection to Dante unlike the others, which makes people judge it more harshly
Name a better boss.
Hi again, still pretending that was your first post?
Thanks for the scans, this reason is so much better as a combination of the two common theories, I always thought Vergil being scared of dying would have been lame even though it is quite humanizing, but having him seethe because he was going to die without having stomped Dante into the dirt makes it both hilariously in-character and satisfying
So is 4chanX legitimately broken or is the new sperg tactic in these threads to call the posts you don't like samefagging regardless of proof to the contrary? What level of pathetic are we on right now?
its not broken, the guy saying he isnt samefagging has no evidence to back it up
We are at avatafagging levels of pathetic.
This is just a normal DMC thread. Autistic fanbase.
I can back it up, because it's me. Not only are you talking to 2 different people on this thread but you did the same yesterday. You're an idiot, stop chasing strawman and read the posts you reply to.
No problem. Seriously the side material is great if you want to know more about the story. Yeah Vergil probably hated the fact that he couldn't fight Dante as himself because he was under Mundus' mindrape. The scene where V tries to stab Dante makes it a lot better.
prove it
>same avatar fagging earlier in the thread
Right.
the ending was pure anime. I cringed honestly
Huh so the new IP thing works for this guy but doesn't for you? Well aren't you special.
Absolutely fucking based.
Alonne too.
youtube.com
Did you even play any of the other DMC's?
The whole entire series is a goofy anime.
yes, boys who grew up without their fathers will enjoy it
>thread is doing alright considering
>spergs come on
>Samefag! *strawmaning* Avatarfag!
Do you enjoy having this autism around you? Careful it doesn't rub off.
I want to ______ Lady!
nah, i didn't honestly. Watched playthrough of previous dmc, which was kinda of series i guess. Watched anime and dmc 5 the only game i played
No DMC3 is better.
>watching a playthrough of a series whose main selling point is the gameplay and action
I mean you do you, but why though
>Vergil's power side just wanted to defeat dante and the mother loved you more
>vergils human side just wanted to live and free his mind from corruption
is that right
b..but its broken!!!
One of the best? Yes
THE best? No
>friends yelling very loudly at each other about getting a divorce in he next room
>never gotten this far in bloody palace though,so too in the zone to care.
you mean vergil 3? how so?
shitty pc bruh
>having an opinion without playing the other games
retarded newfags
but how did you play dmc5?
>the mother loved you more
Fuck. I meant the eva thing with dante being saved.
>oldfaggot
suck a a dick poseur
it was 2014 when i saw the new dmc(restart). I couldn't play this one at that time. Now i have better pc and can play dmc 5
Jeanne IV, Azel, and Fiend Ryu are all more engaging bosses than Vergil 3. Vergil 3 is good, but his formula has been done better. Vergil as a boss doesn't even get remotely difficult until DMD where he starts using Summoned Swords. People honestly prop up Vergil 3 so hard simply because of the good story telling around the boss fight. Vergil 3 also looks far better than the fight actually is because right before Vergil 3 you have to fight Arkham, quite possibly one of the worst bosses to ever appear in a DMC game.
Fight is quite easy desu, taunt dodge and punish, very basic.
name a boss fight that isnt that minus the taunting
I don't have that plug in installed, i don't know what any of that means, This is the second time i have been called a samefag on DMC thread for no reason. I know DMC threads are filled with autistic spergs but this means that either that is not working properly or one of the spergs has achieved critical retard mass and can no longer be considered a human being, take your pic.
Well before that he stated that he knew he was going to die. He said he wasn't scared to die, but he wasn't going to without defeating Dante.
Then he gets to see himself from the outside as V and realizes what a huge sperg he's being.
>say Yea Forums x is broken
>doesnt know what any of it is
somethin aint lining up user
vergil 3
you need to dodge, dodge, dodge, wait, dodge, jump, then goomba stop his head with JC'd killer bees
Ehhh I'm just not digging it because it involves forgiving Vergil which I don't see Dante doing considering he slaughtered thousands of people.
Is this one of the most fuckable bosses of all time?
that sounds slower to me
Impregnate and give a family to
>oldfaggot
>suck a a dick poseur
you don't need to be an oldfaggot to know that
aw geez i didn't realize your metric for fast-paced boss battles was literally how long it takes to beat, sorry bro
He already forgave him if the ending of 5 is anything to by.
Alright, you've convinced me.
You know the menu scene where he's beside Nero, i'd like to think he's thinking of all that spergy shit he did and cringing at himself.
You got that right.
>vergil sitting on top of the qlipoth preparing to fight dante
>"aw jeez aw fuck I can't believe I told nero all I ever wanted was to be protected and loved jesus christ this sucks"
It lines up, it's just that your schizophrenic persecution complex does not allow you to thing of any explanation that is not nefarious.
Because it happened twice in such a short span i gave it the benefit of doubt and thought something might not be working correctly on their end, but knowing this place i should have just expected the worse and chalk it up to autism.
He looks more awkward with Dante.
It really wasn't very anime at all.
And that's really strange and lame. DMC3 Vergil also caused the deaths of people by summoning Temen Nigru. But it works out because Vergil gets trapped in hell, eventually becomes Mundus' slave, and perishes at Dante's hand in DMC1. He got his deserved comeuppance. Vergil decimates an entire city and everyone is fucking okay with it it's bizarre and annoying.
it's an anonymous website, its ok to admit that you're a samefagging retard.
I'm just gonna stop paying attention to you now. Jesus what a sperg.
were you ever talking about the game to begin with?
This is probably autism but the way he's sitting with Dante looks more confident than when he's with nero.
A lot of it would be explained if V said something like "Mundus' influence corrupted Vergil's demonic side, and using the last of his strenght, his human half decided to split and seek Dante's help to stop the Demonic Tree".
Like, just say it Vergil tried to help humanity by splitting himself. The way ot was shown, it seemed as Vergil was a coward who was too scared to die and decided to kill an entire city to power himself up like a faggot
No, but DMC3 Vergil 3 is.
>it seemed as Vergil was a coward who was too scared to die
He split himself because he wanted to gain power while getting rid of his nightmares/aids/corruption, he wasn't afraid of death. He didn't purposely want to kill humans, it's just a byproduct of getting the fruit.
yes, i spent this whole thread talking about video games until you came in.
>boogieman chasing sperg calling people out on an anonymous bird can't recognize what posts belong to whom
This is like a bad joke, get some self awareness schizo
It's in the top 1 million for sure
>bird
board
They can be good, but lacking in variety. For every humanoid boss they did well there were multiple non-human bosses that played like shit.
I could get behind it but he still needs some sort of reckoning beyond getting to party with Dante for eternity.
Didn't purposely, but it still happened. Flowey from Undertale didn't want to come back to life as a murderous flower, it was forced upon him. And even in the true pacifist ending, his fate is he will revert back into a flower and remain trapped while his former brethren get to leave. Proper reckoning.
Be honest with yourself.
You'd fuck her like there's no tommorow if you had the chance.
In the Manga Griffon said he was okay with just fading away, but after hearing V state he doesn't want to die he saves him. He goes through all the trouble of helping V get to Urizen, but has nothing to really gain from it. As soon as Vergil is reunited with himself, he's okay with just fading away again. He even calls out Dante for not acknowledging V is his brother with his subtle "but you knew that already" line. In the novel as well he also seems to already know that Nero is Vergil's son.
Griffon seems to actually care for V, even if V only sees him as a nightmare.
>Flowey from Undertale didn't want to come back to life as a murderous flower, it was forced upon him. And even in the true pacifist ending, his fate is he will revert back into a flower and remain trapped while his former brethren get to leave. Proper reckoning.
Never played the game is he similar to Vergil? You can't compare two different antagonists with different background to each other.
Fuck off westacuck.
I never found female Trish especially attractive
The comparison is here:
>He didn't purposely want to kill humans, it's just a byproduct of getting the fruit.
I don't even need to bring up Undertale. If I don't mean to kill some people, but I do it anyway, I'm getting a fucking manslaughter charge and am getting punished for it.
no the flower just has the power to reset reality basically, and its played out every situation multiple times so much it gets bored and just decides to fuck everyone over for the hell of it
>*kills you in one combo*
I wrote this earlier
>Trish/Dante caused citizens in fortuna to get hurt/killed but ended up saving the ones they could
>Urizen killed humans/V saved citizens after seeing what he did in the one month time span/ Vergil went into the underworld to cut down the tree and learned from his mistakes
>Sparda killed humans either directly/indirectly he rebelled against mundus and then saved them turning into a hero
Vergil fugged up twice but you guys act like he's the only one who killed humans has been forgiven for it
>fucking everyone over for the hell of it
Vergil might of known he needed blood from humans but at least it was for a purpose
>a cop out
>how many times have we fought?
>im not sure. But it's the only memory I have us as children.
Or something like that.
Vergil dlc when
How did he turn into such a freak-tall abomination?
KYYYRIEEEE
Mundus doesn't like manlets
>Appears in 1 brainwashed as a random mook with no personality
>Arguments can be made that his "death" from 1 is what caused Dante to be so depressed in 2
>Appears in 3 as a major antagonist and Dante's rival
>Appears in 4 only in a flashback episode, also his son is the protagonist
>Appears during the last missions in 5; was technically also the main villain and one of the main characters for the whole game
It's weird how much influence Vergil had on the story considering that he doesn't really appear a lot.
>Appears in 4 only in a flashback episode, also his son is the protagonist
And yamato was a big part of the story too
For all the flaws DS2 had, this was absolute kino.
DEADWEIGHT
shut up fag, go cry in the corner
>Playing DMC3
>Get to Vergil 3
>Post yfw YOU'RE GOING DOWN
Mundus drugs, you think Sparda was a manlet?
Playing through 5 again and it really feels like part 1 of 2.
Just like old times
Jump through his helmbreakers and hit him with your own, ez pz
bros in hell dlc expansion pack is the part 2
3's final Vergil fight is better simply as it's a better story climax
