I think in the books the point was that despite that her life mostly sucks hard, every single king, warlock, elf and some rapists have huge plans for her, she actually isn't the Chosen One but his mother, and her powers in general make her life actively worse. Being in a murder-mutant castle going through backbreaking training was genuinely probably the happiest she's been in her life. I did read the books a long time ago though, and I was kinda ambivalent about them at the time, so it may just be me misremembering stuff.
Dunno about Witcher 3, never played it since I have a potato instead of a PC.

I don't see how this is a positive and something Ciri wants because the Witcher lifestyle is beyond god awful. Seems like everyone likes the one where she becomes a witcher with Geralt but I really like the epilogue with Ciri in the snow and the fact that Geralt finally has a friend in high places who won't fuck over his family and friends. I also give Nilfgaard the upper hand in most of the choices in the game so Ciri has a large empire and my bro Roche gets his kingdom back. Perfect ending to me.

Read the books first. The one world where she travels that is interpreted as "far future", is basically OUR world (she is almost ran over by a car and her horse gets entangled in a plastic bag). Once again, I don't know whether it's the English translation that is to blame, but when reading the Polish version I never got the impression of a "future" world, just our own viewed from the perspective of a Medieval girl.

Where do you see Ciri as a princess? I've played through Blood and Wine and never saw this after getting the Princess ending.
