There's too many bosses in DaS2 with high Dark Res for pure hexspam. Even Nashandra, one of the easiest and shittiest bosses in the series, just shrugs off hexes.

Just parry as soon as he does an horizontal slash. You get a free riposte and you can recover stamina for more dodging.

Pontiff is a pain in the ass as melee, the faggot rarely stop attacking. You have to roll a fuckton and try to use the frost weapon on first phase. After a while you will realise you can roll some starter attacks and then just move to dodge the second one.

Wooden Greathammer, start as a Cleric.

mad king and swordspear doesn't have gimmicks, it's a mix of movesets, which are pretty good.
Moonlight greatsword is a bastard sword with better range and special attacks.
Demon scar is a decent curved sword on it's own, it's skill is the least appealing thing of the weapon.

The reason why Dark Souls games are hard is because they don't tell you everything. They're easy to veterans but hard to beginners, which is really great.

And if this is about muh PVP the parting flame has too many true combos, plus your obligatory dark infused straight sword for confusion. Your opponent will just parry into 2x black flame.

Oh, how about literally anything with an infusion? Astora GS is pretty popular with casters because it's got low reqs and low weight with a great moveset.
I used Crystal Sellsword Twinblades for most of the DLC while low level without problems.
