Nier is a great 8-9/10 game for the first quarter. Then afterwards the quality is fucking all over the place. The issues with game balance start to show and the fights get dull a repetitive.

If you're not invested in the plot then there really is no reason to play. The last route, despite being touted as the best part by fans, is honestly lacklustre as fuck with dull encounters and a plot that has nothing left to say and just drags on with tedious melodrama. Really, if you reach route D and aren't invested in the plot, just fucking drop it.
