The combat is more engaging as there's more buttons to press. Especially since Blizzard made most classes only have a 6 button rotation. Each job plays different enough to keep it fresh. There's more to do endgame than just raiding once a week. They preserve old content by syncing you to a lower level for the dungeons making each queue fresh with variety. The animations in the raids and the later trials are fantastic.

There's plenty downsides though. You're forced to go through the story to even get to the expansions. There's crafting rep grinds, then there's crafting which is the opposite of fun. The PVP is mediocre with massive balance issues and just overall a clusterfuck. The community is probably the worst i've ever experienced, i've server transferred many times to find a single good and cool FC with 0 luck. The community is the equivalent of Gaia Online. All of the races are just human, cat human, bunny human, tall human, long neck human, tiny potato human, etc so it leaves you wanting the Beast Tribes (rep grinds) to be playable. Glamour is a really flawed and bad version of transmog. Back to the community, it's guys playing a female character dominant game and they all dress up like sluts instead of something cool. Lastly the story is probably some of the worst writing ever in a videogame. Every cool character in the story dies, you're this godlike character that runs errands for retards and you hang out with them instead of the antagonists who are cooler in every way.

WIth the exclusion of WoWChad-Sama, all wowtards need to fuck out of this thread, your game is trash and its time to pack it up.

It's just as much a Final Fantasy game as it is an MMO. There's very heavy emphasis on story and characters. An absurd amount of content is locked behind progression through the main quest. If you're just looking for MMO elements, you'll see the story as a hurdle rather than a feature.
It's incredibly light on grinding, and one character can do everything with enough time.
The base game is slow, but it really picks up as both your classes gain mechanics and the story gets interesting in the expansions.

I haven’t played WoW, but I hear it’s basically a copy/paste more than not. On its own merits, it’s a pretty good game but it takes fucking forever to get to the good content. Once you’re into Heavensward, then it finally starts to pick up but the majority of content before then is a drag. I can’t give it a solid recommendation unless you know what you’re getting into and you really want to play an MMO for some reason. I did a review of the game if you want to see it, but I lined out the basic points already. Considering how much mandatory single player content there is for a multiplayer game, you’re better off playing a couple of other great single player games rather than one really long one that’s only just good.
