For me it is Iowa by Slipknot
The only good Slipknot, everything else is trash.
AND I WANT OUT
this but the opposite
>nu-metal fags
I'm going to see them in August but I didn't buy the tickets for them, got them to see Volbeat but since I'm already there I'll watch their show. Maybe Corey will cry on stage and ask AZ why we voted for Trump.
This but also S/T and some songs from Vol 3 and some songs from AHIG and a song or three from 0.5
BUT THESE NIGGERS
This is an entirely likely scenario.
I idolised him as a vocalist and he seemed like a great man.
in the past few years he revealed his true colours, turns out his a bitch.
not so much The Great Big Mouth, more like The Gigantic Pussy.
Nah Subliminal is alright too
you know for a guy who put out a song called "Through the Glass" that talks about how celebrities and media is all fake as shit, he sure is a fake as shit motherfucker
30 YEARS OF IT
PULL
Name 1, just 1 good song from Vol 3
Game recognize game
HARDER
I'm gonna be real with you, the path to being a true patrician goes
>liking nu metal because you're a kid and it's angsty
>growing up and being ashamed of the dumb shit you liked as a teenager, vehemently disparaging it at every opportunity
>becoming wise and realizing nu metal bangs hard as fuck, and is therefore good as shit
Their self-titled album is pretty good, but they've a tendency to stretch material out.
youtube.com
After like 2 minutes and 30 seconds it shoulda just fuckin ended because the song has zero progression, but the first half is great.
Now, let's get to the ACTUAL great nu metal.
youtube.com
Before I Forget is good expect for the trash ending.
Also this is completely correct. I've embraced it because I love the emphasis placed on the rhythm section and a lot of the nu metal bassist took mad cues from contemporary funk rock/metal artists like Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, etc.
Can you quack?
Can you quack like a duck when you suck?
Can you buck like a horse when we fuck?
The Blister Exists up until the refrain
The Virus of Life
I grew up listening to hardcore and thought nu metal was gay shit for tryhards, now all my favourite hardcore bands just sound like nu metal but with less rapping. and sometimes with just as much rapping
>radio fags
like clock work.
yeah this is pretty much how it works. Theres good in every genre.
2edgy4me
PIKACHU'S A VIRGIN
>he didn't skip part 2 entirely by not undergoing part 1
I PUSH MY FINGERS INTO THIS user'S MOM'S PUSSY
Here's an example of insane bass on nu metal (probably my favorite nu metal song)
youtube.com
I'm not American so I've never heard them on the radio.
You can fly yourself into the fucking sun if you watch a vid of someone covering this on bass and you aren't impressed by that fucking slapping.
Shit is tight as fuck
incubus doesn't count. they were only nu metal for like 1 album
SO ABUSIVE
That's some good stuff, but the guy's vocals are pretty shit.
AND SPENT THAT BREAD
idk what you mean. brandon is a pretty good vocalist that has done a lot of different styles of music
who here /loco/?
Fucking sucks they went alt rock (even tho I love quite a bit of Make Yourself) because their material on S.C.I.E.N.C.E. on Fungus Amongus was STRONG. Wish they would go back to it.
real path is
>listen to nu metal when young because it's "cool"
>ignore dad metal because it's "lame"
>grow up
>realize nu metal is terrible and dad metal is based as fuck
ME UNDER
Here's your REAL dad metal
youtube.com
NOW THE FIRST DAY THAT I MET YA
You still have not ascended. Dad metal is also based but you haven't become wise enough to post here and should leave. In fact, thinking dad metal is superior to nu metal is actually the lowest rung on many people's journeys.
I like some Nu Metal. I have a soft spot for Korn but it gets old after listening for awhile, some of it is pretty cool but a lot of it feels uninspired and somewhat dull. But it has it's moments.
Anyways, this thread was fun; going back to now to grovel at how shitty it is there
youtube.com
i really like "the rain will kill us all" with happy music
who still /earthrocker/ here?
you don't need to be a musician to be an earth rocker
But what if I skipped step 2. Instead I just embrace that it's both good shit and I'm a cringy edge lord.
Hey man, you actually made me feel good about a thread on Yea Forums for once, have fun in your shithole while we tolerate ours.
Now that was a good THE LIMITS OF THE DEAD
I fully accept you into the brotherhood but you should also expand your horizons if you haven't already. I suggest Baroness.
Bam got jumped? wtf
I grew up on nu metal and I'll always have a soft spot for it. I don't listen to it much anymore but I'll occasionally go on a nostalgia binge. I'm forever grateful that it helped bring six string and downtuned guitars into the mainstream because I love that sound.
There's a lot of really good shit in the genre completely outside of the irony factor. Deftones have made a lot of great stuff, and even some bands that don't necessarily qualify as "nu metal" like later Poison The Well I would say still count.
BEAMS OF FIRE SWEEP THROUGH MY HEAD
The White Pony was one of my favorite albums growing up as a teenager. I don't know if people would count it as nu metal.
>went through old prog rock and nu metal phases when i was a kid
>angsty teenager phase tilted me towards metalcore
>grew up and ascended to prog/tech (death) metal
EATING SEEMS AS A PASTIME ACTIVITY
THE TOXICITY OF OUR CITY, OF OUR CITY
I would say it's definitely nu metal, the reason people don't count it is because it's actually artistic. I went back to it like a year ago and it's back to being one of my favourite albums, it holds up great. The angsty parts actually feel genuine and not forced or like "damn I'm so unhinged who KNOWS what I might do next" like a lot of other bands
DO YOU HAVE THE TIME

Numetal path is at least superior to this
>pretty good music
>as you grow up the band becomes shittier and shitter
>now you are so old and they are so shit that it would be straight up embarrassing to admit that you ever liked them
In Flames and At The Gates were extremely influential on younger me. I haven't listened to any of their new shit and I'm kind of glad I haven't
I liked one of their albums The Jester Race but I never listened to them much. From what I heard they had a couple good albums and then they dropped off pretty hard getting progressively worse.
I see your tweenshit and raise you ponyshit
youtu.be
Don't forget these guys
youtube.com
If you liked TJR get the following two albums as well. Clayman is also 10/10 but quite different with a lot of chuggy riffs. That was when the band started to break into the US market and toured with Slipknot and shit.
Already posted and no one gave a shit then either.
Nu metal is pretty shit as a whole. The only good thing to come out of it was SOAD's first album. .

Haven’t cared enough to listen to their new one.
Jester race, whoracle, Colony, Clayman
those 4 albums are what make In Flames amazing. Every album after clayman they would have a track or two, or even three that were "ok" but they never got anywhere close to the quality of those 4 records again.
These days they quite seriously play what sounds like a mixture between Papa Roach, Breaking Benjamin, and a raped tortured and abused version of their older selves. It's terrible. There are some ok tracks on Sense of Purpose but even that record is rough. Everything after that one is seriously dog shit. Worse than the worst thing you can imagine I have no idea how In Flames got so bad. I was such a big fan and to see a band blatantly put out such terrible sound is mind-crushing. They were so good bros.
Oof. Don't remind me.
That's objectively wrong. Any popular band has at least some merit to their music. Also, Duality is a really well made song even if it's edgy as shit.
Right now not only are there no original members in the band but only Bjorn and Anders are Swedes. They have 3 americans in the band. Some literally who drummer and bass player and the Megadeth reject guitar player who probably had his rent due or something.
Laughable
At least pic related are still somewhat enjoyable, even if they haven't put out a truly great album in a decade.
>Colony and Clayman
>not in Great tier
other than that pretty accurate. Though I do like a couple tracks off StyE and Sense of Purpose, it seriously is not because of the vocals. Some good riffs on those records here and there. They should have replaced anders after it became apparent he couldn't really sound good anymore. instead they kick out the founding guitarist who was probably only drinking as much as he was because HIS band got transformed from a Iron Maiden/Death fusion into a band that desperately wanted to be Breaking Benjamin.
I fucking HATE new in flames
>anders
i blame this faggot swede for ruining the band but its probably just as much bjorn's fault as it is his
Yeah man, i guess it's about developing an ear for stuff and finding out bands with superior technique and composition, while realizing that the ones you listened to before are kinda repetitive and uninventive. Some genres ultimatly became stale.
We live in the world where In Flames gone to shit while fucking Emmure actually improved somewhat (although only thanks to addition The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza guys).
Post underrated Melo Death
youtu.be
>we live in a world where in flames went to shit
get me out
Meh. I lost interest in them after Across the Dark.
Belakor dethroned them when it comes to that somber tone.
m.youtube.com
Kino. Reminds me of a bittersweet version of Insomnium.
man the new quake OST sucks
It's because you're listening to it sideways.
people are reluctant to classify deftones as nu metal because they were actually good
Who here knows about this gem
youtube.com
>b-but they were in a random video game no one played!
Don't care. This band was fucking sick, and then they broke up only to reform with a vocalist that while skilled is frankly generic. Their original vocalist was unique enough to where I could pick him out easily.
had to duct tape my monitor sideways but it sounds good now thanks
I remember them. I listen to one song and thought meh.
HOW IS COREY NEW MASK SO SHIT
waddup homie. das good shit right there. honestly didn't expect much going off the art though
I actually laughed out loud at the fucking retardation of the phrase "duct tape my monitor sideways" so thank you for that. It's been a good thread boys, it's nice to end my Yea Forums night on a high note for once Ironically in a thread not remotely about video games, shout out to janitors for letting us have something nice
same goes for incubus, apparently.
I always avoided this because of the weeb ass cover. Guess ill give it a quick listen.
Thought I was the only one
>ironically enough about video games
it is well known that the following board topics are actually better on late night Yea Forums than their home boards:
>/vp/
>Yea Forums
>Yea Forums
>Yea Forums
and frankly, even /vr/. Goodnight user. Glad to have you in these late night threads.
For me, it's the middle era of Soilwork. After they dumped the thrashy approach but before they went full prog. I like later stuff too but it doesn't have the atmosphere
he's da joker, baybee
They stopped being good after they kicked out the white girl vocalist
>not about video games*
maybe I should sleep too.
Hey, you forgot /d/
Because he's now shit.
He went from a badass manlet to a little faggot.
What's Slipknot live like? I am seeing them on thr NA tour but mostly for Gojira and Behemoth
jannies and mods are afk today
ive been shitposting all day and they havent done much at all
Huh you are right, maybe people are starting to mellow out.
There is also this one youtu.be
I’ll never understand this. Behemoth on the same tour with Slipknot.
>tfw I saw Vader live but they were “supporting” them
God damn.
I still expanded.
Devin Townsend and his bands and projects are now my musical mainstay.
They /metal/ threads on Yea Forums were cool until the nazi black metal people took control. Fuck NSBM
>when the vocalist's side project outdoes his original band

there should be a global rule that bans Linkin Park
He's better with Devil Driver.
Mind Tricks was my fucking jam, that band had some really nice albums
fuck it i'm just dumping 10/10 melodeath
>Suburban Me
mein negro.
but seriously every song on that record is a banger
You'd like the last few Comeback Kid albums, probably the most technically proficient and musically interesting hardcore band out there and they featured Devin Townsend on one of their tracks.
Pulse of the Maggots. The riff/groove is incredible desu
How would one into making the metals/playing in a band?
Yea Forums has fantastic off topic threads, its pretty much the only reason I come here these days
S T A R G A Z E R
Yea Forums is terrible as fuck at talking about video games, isn't it? I was expecting to drop this thread but I've read every post.
>learn instrument
>practice x1000000
>be outgoing(to an extent) and meet people in local scene, move to place that has one if you have none
>love metals unconditionally and don't be a "kvlt" faggot
Basically just spirit channel Ronnie James Dio, Randy Rhodes, and Dimebag and you'll be fine
>tfw listening to WotLK PvP videos with that band in it
I can't remember if it was drakedog or akrios but it had this in it, I'll always remember the album art
youtube.com
This and also literally just learn how to program drums. 90% of studio drums on metal albums now are not actually played in real time and if you can track drums digitally you can record an entire album and get people to want to play with you.
stop listening to metal
Just don't do it, it's not worth it. You will play for 15 people and deal with obnoxious musicians who watch youtube "bands" way too much.
Join a hard working bar cover band instead. Play live every weekend for a full house, drink for free, meet girls, get laid, get actually paid.
t. playing bass in metal bands for 15 years now
>drums aren't played in real time
then whats the point
>six string guitars into the mainstream
What On earth did he mean by this?
Man, WoW PvP videos and CS 1.6 frag movies introduced me to so many bands it's not even funny.
To provide rhythm and keep time, such is the purpose of drums.
I'm 1% gypsy Varg.
I'm taking over Europe Varg you can't stop me!!!
>Eisbrecher.
I didn't think anyone here listened to them.
You probably heard of this then
youtu.be
I don't really listen to it anymore except when I want a trip down memory lane. If I listen to it for long periods of time I just get bored.
>that fucking barrel
my sides
yeah, I've thought about it but I dunno why off topic threads here can be so good. I just swung through cuz I recognized slipknot lyrics. Idk why OP even made this post, but it ended up being a great thread and this isn't the first time that's happened here.
Its 3am and I'm going to bed, good thread anons. I'll listen to whatever gets posted when I wake up. youtube.com
I also listen to ASP, Lord of the Lost, and Blutengel.
I always come back to Maiden, personally. No matter how much I've branched out musically, they are a constant.
Also, Rammstein a shit.
thoughts on this kino?
maybe it was 7 and 8 strings then. Its late, fuck you
I could get behind that
Nice! Ever heard Subway to Sally?
>Rammstein a shit.
At times, yes. They throw one fucking hell of a concert though. Their latest album. I can't place my thumb on it but it feels like it's lacking something.
Energy, if that makes any sense.
Sure have, but I would be being dishonest if I said I know a lot about them. Anything you'd recommend?
They're not terrible, no, but their newest album poked me in my side so I'm sore with them. Particularly that one video. Yeah, I hear you.
My freshman year of high school this band was really popular around school. this type of music was everywhere.
Killswitch ain't bad. I always preferred Unearth. They put on a hell of a show. Their lead guitarist would quite seriously chug a beer during a solo just using his jaw to prop up the cup I have no fucking idea to this day how he did it.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Also GWAR. That is all.
Unearth was always too techy and wanky for my taste, they can't write a solid song, only good bits and pieces here and there. Great live band tho, just like Darkest Hour for an instance. From a music side of things I prefer old Killswitch, Shadows Fall and that one good All That Remains record
GWAR is a weird band
Just discovered them recently. They're not as melodic as some of the other bands. I dig their sound.
youtube.com
How do you feel about Norwegian metal?
youtube.com
and
youtube.com
Sore with them? What do you dislike about it, if I may ask? I'm wondering if we have the same gripes.
>recommending GWAR unironically
Same man. Truly a timeless band.
youtube.com
GWAR is the weirdest band.
Not just because of the theatrics, but because they evolved from 80s punk to thrash but did a lot of random stuff along the way.
>Great live band
Yeah that's the main reason I love Unearth I can admit, but have you really listened to all their material? They have lots of high points on just about every record, so much that I feel the lows are worth it.
Thoughts on rap metal bands?
BANANA BANANA BANANA BANANA TERICOTTER PIE
this is the only acceptable rap metal song
You mean...?
youtube.com
Or my bad, they're Swedes.
>inb4 cucks.
I also fucked up linking one of those songs.
youtube.com
>Judging GWAR at face value
Dig into the layers. At first it is indeed an awful racket and then you realise there's a Gold necklace under that crust of feces.
I'm so glad my boys at CoB still try. Watching In Flames selling out is painful.
lads dave mustaine got cancer, better go see megadeth before its too late
Funny enough I was thinking of a Rap metal song called "Look at me now" when making the post
youtube.com
i can't the shows are canceled aren't they?
Speaking of Megadeth, post your fav megadeth tracks.
They aren't great stage performers, but that's okay. They stand their focusing on playing their music very well and the crowd does the rest.
Download 2012, the entire crowd hummed hummed the melodies for Hanger 18, Synthony of Destruction etc. in time, it was a beautiful chior.
There have been some crazy collabs between rap and metal.
youtube.com
>That time Mase and System of a Down did a jam.
youtube.com
Trust me, they really do taste like fermented ballsacks.
It is
bro there is nothing quite like singing along to skin o my teeth, architecture of aggression, hangar 18, liar, fuck man.
megadeth haters have always missed out
blasphemy
Not really the same genre as most of what's in the thread but you just reminded me of the best live track I've ever heard, the whole crowd sings and it sounds like a stadium even though it's a room of maybe a hundred people.
Some were influenced by the idea of it too.
youtube.com
I most just really, really don't like this.
youtube.com
>inb4 cucks.
Yeah, kinda. It just rubs me the wrong way.
I get this on spotify all the time and always skip it because I instinctively assume any cover that's just an anime girl and nothing else is gonna be really poorly put together.
My Nigga.
youtube.com
>Never heard that album.
>Now curious but also hesitant.
I'm not sure I want to taint my memories of them.
I always thought that Zelda thing wasn't even them, it just got spread around on shit like limewire like that.
Chimaira Resseurection was my album in high school for a long time. that was a good album.
whoracle is fucking awesome dude
who /rhapsody/ here?
youtube.com
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
To be fair COB was almost IF tier with Bloodrunk/AYDY/Reckless. It’s good to see them release good albums in the meantime. Besides I Worship Chaos.
Kalmahs the superior band anyways.
m.youtube.com
Ah, got'cha. They got a little political.
youtube.com
Post angsty bands from your country
Oh wait I was wrong it was the self titled album. It's been a while.
my fucking nigger
I have such sweet nostalgic memories of playing Jak 2 with Antares on repeat, fit the game vibe perfectly
MY DEVIL TRIGGER
Kek, you just reminded me...
youtube.com
it wasn't. you're right.
Huh. I'll have to look into it a bit more.
>All those mislabeled and misfit songs on Limewire, Kazaa and Bearshare back then.
It was a wild time.
Guttural!
What a fucking ride.
Do you remember the song "Blood In My Eyes" that was supposedly by Disturbed, System of a Down and Godsmack?
Wait. what "Zelda thing"?
Check out the other stuff without the regular singer.
Subteranian is a nice ep and Lunar Strain is IMO better than Jester Race.
That's one way to put it, yeah. Also, while I can't say I'm particularly gung-ho for those three songs you listed, of them I'd say Istapp - Evig Kold Koncentrerad is the best because it reminds me of this Insomnium song. They're not terrible, though.
youtube.com
This. it wasn't them. and honestly only kind of sort of sounded like them
FRUIT SALAD YUMMY YUMMY
MY COCK IS MUCH BIGGER THAN YOURS
>not sepulkino
So that's what kept coming up when I was looking for save the princess threads
Between all the genre mashups transcore is my go-to usually.
youtube.com
I'd put Colony in Kino because it's the catchiest of In Flames's melodeath albums, and Reroute To Remain in good. Yes, it was a sellout album, but a damn good sellout album.
Oh, I remember this shit. I can see how someone could make that mistake. Serj's voice doesn't crack like that. That's the give-away it isn't them.
Who did it better?
youtube.com
youtube.com
>Insomnium.
I like it.
"Blood In My Eyes" that was supposedly by Disturbed, System of a Down and Godsmack?
My man!
This shit is some of their best work! youtube.com
Damn, these are the first grandma vocals I've heard that I actually like
Good shit
My bad on What I mean to say, was that sounds familiar. I remember there being some sort of false collab but I don't remember the mistaken song itself.
When I've seen them, it's been a great performance. But it's a performance and when Corey gives speeches you can tell it's all fake scripted bullshit trying to come across and heartfelt and people lap it up.
Long time ago, dunno if it's still good.
Joey's an idiot for rejoining after they cast him aside and for what they did to Chris.
They aren't band mates, they're employees.
youtube.com
It was this song, if you remember it.
God I love Rhapsody
nu metal takes me back to the early 00s, I want to go back bros..
At least post good Insomnium
Huh, that's... new to me. Interesting.
The original hits the notes better, but the new one has clearer sound and the vocals are easier to make out.
>joey rejoined
get the fuck out. they quite seriously tossed him to the curb like the biggest pussies
DO YOU WANT A BANANA
PEEL IT DOWN AND GO MM-MM-MM-MMMMMMMMM
DO YOU WANT A BANANA
DIS BANANA FOR YOU
Me too.
>240 replies and no mention of GOAT
Anyone here listen to Jorn?
youtube.com
Take Insomnium and add talent.
m.youtube.com
They outted Chris and took Joey back in, not as main drummer because he can't perform to that level anymore but as custom percussionist.
Literally disposable and interchangeable.
AAAAAAN ALL TOOOO ORDINARY STOOORRRRRYYY !!!! Man, that shit really striked the perfect balance between brutal (well, relative to In Flames, of course), and melodic. Like, Embody The Invisible is a perfect opener, and stuff like the eponymous song and Behind Space '99 are serious bangers. Also, look into Dismember dude : youtube.com
FUCK thats so horrible.
Man I fatfinger every time I try to listen to Korn too
CATHODE RAAAY
>Take Insomnium, make songs needlessly twice as long and add shitter guitar tone and shittier vocalist
fixed that for you
By far the best one.
unbelievably fucked. I mean, I used to shit on slipknot too but I still respected joey as a drummer
FUCK YES DARK TRANQUILITY
agreed. There is nothing quite like Colony.
will do. thanks user.
This is the most Yea Forums post in the thread and that is not a compliment.
>mfw comparing lyrics on colony to the latest album
>DUDE 7-8 SONGS ARE TOO LONG
>DUDE THE SINGER IS TOO GROWLY
>DUDE THE RIFFS ARENT THE SAME REEE WE’RE DEPRESSED SOUNDING LIKE INSOMNIUM PLAYS
user you forgot your face
If you want to discuss things in depth here you go faggot
Belakor generally have zero rhythmic variety to their songs in literally ANY way. All the riffs, all the melodies - everything is straight 1/8th notes. It's impossible to listen to it for more than 10 minutes because it's too damn predictable. Insomnium writes all their songs in a single scale with varying up between couple of different keys, Be'lakor dont even do that. And vocalist is generally really shitty, he has no range and sounds the same on every song. Seriously, he makes current day Chris Barnes look like a classically trained singer.
Songs ARE indeed needlessly long, too many repetitions that go fucking nowhere. And to top it off, Belakor are fucking atrocious live. Not that Insomnium are particularly great nowadays but that's something else.
>dude ripping off Opeth chords progressions lmao the band
For what it's worth I really liked older stuff, Stone's reach was pretty good but it was always, and will be always B tier melodeath. Here's a superior aussie band
Yep, he's based.
tl:dr the melodies aren’t as scary and depressing and the vocals are too yucky

Dismember in general is pretty fucking great, even their less appreciated albums like Massive Killing Capacity are pretty good. And Death Metal (the album title) is a fucking masterpiece. They were precursors of the melodeath scene imho. Also, check out Necroticism - Descanting The Insalubrious from Carcass and Arch Enemy's first 3 albums (Black Earth - Stigmata - Burning Bridges) , where the singer was a dude named Johan Liiva. They're definitely the best ones as far as I'm concerned, even if their later output with Angela Gossow and Alyssa White-Glutz is okay.

CAN YOU TAKE ME HIGHER?
Who here enjoys some good ol' heavy metal?
youtube.com
As good as the album was from an instrumental and compositional point of view, Chuck's voice was fucked beyond belief on The Sound Of Perseverance (and on Symbolic to a lesser extent). I'm more of a Leprosy and Human kinda guy myself. Also, check out Control Denied - The Fragile Art Of Existence.
as far as I recall, a lot of extremely clean master tracks of pop/rock/metal comes from Rock Band and Guitar Hero, which both have clean digital cuts of seperated instruments for literally thousands of songs
Otherwise it's usually manually and mechanically seperated
>tfw you know it's low effort trash but you like it anyway
underrated swedish melodeath album, fun fact the frontman moved to US 10 years ago and started producing songs for pretty much everything you hear on Top 40, stuff like Pink, Maroon 5 and stuff and is now one of the most well known producers in the industry

what sucks the most is that Queenscrythe is fucking fantastic but their biggest song is nothing like the rest of their material.
I actually really like the voice on Sound of Perseverance, though I can admit its better on previous albums.
control denied is good too, though I listen to that a lot less than I do Death
I still listen to Fear Factory,Powerman 5000,and NiN.
Honestly, I love Creed.
Mark Tremonti is a fantastic guitarist.

literally the worst thing rammstein ever produced. The video is better than the song and I would rather have it the other way around. Fucking cucks
>We'll never listen to a Johan Liiva version of Nemesis
Just fucking kill me please
I guess it's an acquired taste, I just can't stand Chuck's voice post- Individual Thought Patterns
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. If Fear Factory is your shit listen to Paul Wardingham, he's a guitarist who blends FF-style riffs on 7 string with ultra-melodic shred ala Joe Satriani. And check out Scar Symmetry too.
anyone hear of unleash the archers? this apex album is actually pretty great. Just got into it a week or so ago
I.... STAND ALONEE.
It may very well be man. It's frayed for sure, but I feel like it sets him apart from tons of copycats that popped up. I don't know. The lyrics are still good and so is everything else. I fucking LOVE Symbolic and Sound of Perseverance man. Great records. Some of the best imo. They have such personality.
The fact that Paul Wardingham never heard of SS or Per Nilsson before truly blows my mind. Though as good as Paul is, Per is simply on another fucking level. Alongside papa Guthrie and Gilbert, quite possibly the best guitar player ever. What a unique phrasing.

Absolutely based. Funnily enough, it was my dad who introduced me to this band and absence of light was his favorite song.

My adolescence album.
AND NOW IM TRANS
Those are great records user, no doubt about that ! Also, no doubt about the lyrics being great. Lyrics in Metal are like the cherry on top of the sundae, and Chuck's lyrics are just a reminder of how fucking good it is when they're well-written and talk to your soul
Great stuff, never heard of him before. Sounds more like fusion (of course since it's a Holdsworth cover), and Wardingham is more of a straight-up metal guitarist, but I'll check out more of his material.
Listening to Stone Sour might give you that impression but better that way than Cory bringing this "side" of his into Slipknot and ruin it like Anders did with In Flames.
Good thread boys, Yea Forums is always excellent when it's not about vidya.
Per is guitarist in Scar Symmetry, that's just him noodling over the Holdsworth track, fingerstyle
anything Killswitch albums without him feel off, his voice was primo
>anders
there's that faggot swede being brought up again. lets all agree that In Flames stopped after Clayman? Yeah? yeah. Sweet.
Speaking of great guitarists, i really fucking miss Suicmez.

But unironically that's what they said.
Shit, I'm really a huge fucking retard who can't into Google, sorry. Also, for the record Paul Wardingham explicitly stated in an interview that Scar Symmetry and Pers Nilsson ARE a huge influence on his playing and music in general. What are some good SS albums besides Pitch Black Progress and Holographic Universe ?
holy fuck this user is 100% correct. I have the urge to laugh but can't that's how fucking pathetic this is

>proceed to burn entire FF discography up to Archetype into my brain
I still put on the odd nu album once in blue moon, but music-wise Fear Factory was my first "HOLY FUCK, there's so much better stuff out there" moment
>gender problems
Nah user, In Flames stopped after Reroute To Remain as far as I'm concerned. You can safely ignore everything that came after that album.
Those two are the best by far. After Morphogenesis they changed vocalist(s) and songwriting wasn't as good but there is plenty of guitar wank to digest if you are into that. But definitely not on the level of those two albums. I recommend their debut, it's a bit more cheese and straightforward, with obviously worse production quality but hooks are on point and it's overall a good time.
youtube.com
In case you haven't already went through it, I heavily recommend Solution .45's debut album as well, it's new band of the singer that was on the two Scar Symmetry albums you named. It's very similar in style but IMHO even better. Entire album is 10/10, zero filler, can't recommend this shit enough
ok fine. I'll give you that but only because a part of me actually likes songs like Cloud Connected, Trigger, and Metaphor. Admittedly the later half of Minus is actually decent too.
It's just no Clayman and I hate it for that.
Since when can foo fighters fans not be giant faggots also? I fail to see the connection. What did Foo Fighters ever do to Slipknot?
Foo Fighters are like, what, the biggest modern rock band? of course slipknot wants to try to seem rebellious even though they're pozzed to hell
>Plenty of guitar wank
That's the stuff ! I've been raised on Shrapnel Shredders and other assorted fretboard wankers, so I shoul enjoy it. Great recommandations user, thanks !
fun fact: Godsmack were only responsible for two tracks in this bitchin' soundtrack. The rest was all the work of Stuart Chatwood, bassist of The Tea Party
Don't hate the album for what it isn't, hate it for what it is. Yes, it's too poppy and not as well-composed as their earlier output, but it's still a damn decent sellout album. Also
>All those 12-13 year old FFVII AMV on Youtube with Cloud Connected
Takes me back to better days..
As for playing the songs, it's surprisingly easy
Drummers are region-locked paid DLC exclusive
That's all you need to know in Yea Forums terms. It's downright easier to find a weeb tit demon that loves your favorite autistic video game and will suck your cock for five hours every day than it is to find a competent drummer that you can rely on.
Fair. I had a buddy that would rock out to Cloud Connected with me while we did Arenas in warcrack. Could never get him into much else from the band though.
its just you have to understand, after RtR its like they went into freefall with only brief moments of them being decent, until they just completely went to shit with no redemption by the time sounds of a playground fading was out. It was completely over by then and is tragic.
After Sense of Purpose they should have just changed the name of the band for good, but nah. They need the brand recognition. Fags.

I understand completely user, I didn't even bother listening to anything they put out after Rtr. Well, it was good while it lasted. In fact, Rtr was In Flames's Black album. Pisses off old fans, gains them a ton of new ones, was pretty ok all things considered 18 years after release and announce the tsunami of shit to come.
Come Clarity was better than RTR in every way

Also if you don't know them, you should really look up Blotted Science, Psycroptic and Gorod. Not exactly like Necro, but they come close at times. Most tech death bands just try to out-BPM each other, but those actually have some groove despite the broken time signatures.
Gallery, Of Chaos and Eternal Night and Skydancer is the only good DT

Why is Death and death metal in general popular with 19 year old thots now? Same with being goth. There were about .1 percent hot metal chicks when I was a teenager, but now the aestethic of it all is in Vogue so I see a bunch of emcels on Tinder with death metal shirts.

Thanks user. I love occasionally reminiscing those days. 2005 - 2006 was arguably one of the best periods of my life. Sitting up all night at our friend's house, listening to music, talking shit, sneaking beers out of the nearby corner store, sitting on our friend's computer inviting other friends over on AIM.
Simple times with good company and total freedom.
Life is what you make of it, user. You can choose to get stuck in the past, or you can make your future. I'm busy as fuck during the week, but I always make time on the weekends for myself to just relax and have some me time.
Every Saturday I go to brunch at a sushi place downtown, have my usual with a beer, go home, kick on some music, sit with my dog, and either watch a movie or two or play some vidya. If friends are available, we'll go get some drinks and enjoy each others' company for a few hours before going home for the night.
Things can still be simple despite our adult responsibilities.

>Uncle gives me hard drive chock-full of old heavy metal
>Listen to a blend of the classics, nu-metal and metalcore
>Start playing the guitar and get into instrumental shred and death metal
>keep listening to everything previously cited while getting into classical and fusion
And here I am a decade later, still playing the guitar and blasting metal all day everyday (with short country, fusion and classical breaks every 5 or 6 albums).
Issues is the peak Korn.
