naw I think it just boils down to the quality of female voice actors since so much anime is female focused, Funimation has some of the absolute WORST female voice actors I've ever heard not only do they all sound the same they all sound the same in different roles.

ViZ has much, much better female voice actors, compare Naruto and Bleach to something like Attack on Titan and it's no contest ViZ has the better female voice actors.

In regards to actually speaking the language, yes. I'm not claiming to speak any amount of Japanese properly, but I will claim that my experience does help me comprehend my kawaii uguu cave drawings way better. It's not useful experience outside of that but outright dismissing it is stupid.

Your point only actually works for when you have just little to no experience and even basic things actually go over your head. But if you never go through that, you'll never get anywhere. An alternative would be actually studying very basic Japanese before watching any anime at all, but the result is about the same. And shows where it's a major problem you might as well not watch at all than watch them dubbed.

You don't need to know absolutely every single nuance of the language to benefit from watching subs. As you at least appear to understand, most things can actually be translated just fine. And if they are, there's no issue, and you don't have to watch it in a way that replaces the original when you have an option that acts as a support module without robbing you of the aforementioned things that have nothing to do with actual language knowledge. And I speak two languages, unfortunately my native one being hardly useful for things that actually interest me, but I should know something about language differences at least.
