Which games were so bad they ended their series?

theres no way todd wont make fallout 5

Attached: 51WW9YCsBIL.jpg (379x500, 57K)

The series is designated trash now though. It’s reputation is permanently destroyed. That’s what I meant

D3 and HoMM6 come to my mind almost instantly

>best selling game in the franchise
>killed the franchise

I remember looking so forward to this. What the fuck happened

If thats what you mean that Fallout 76 did far more damage to the brand.

Damn that fucking sucks the big one, how can people have such bad taste?

Not even the worst one you tard. And I'm not talking about 76 either.

Literally woman

Huh?

You better be talking about 3, even then you’re wrong, but if you’re talking about ANY of the other ones you’re below 80 IQ wrong

outer worlds better be good or else im checkin' out

Beth is full to the brim with forced quotes for workers, literally look up the employees and watch how the more women they got to work on the game, the worse it got

this game was fun as fuck, redpill me

Fuck Atari/Infogrames.

I posted this in another thread about Fallout, and aside from expected childish namecalling, nobody replied, presumably because they have no counter to anything I'm saying.

>Fallout 4 is better than Fallout 1. For all the talk of Bethesda "removing role playing features," Fallout 1 never fucking had any. The only non-combat skill actually worth putting points into is Speech, and the game only has like three speech checks. Sneaking, Science, Stealing, Outdoorsman, Gambling, and Barter are completely useless; Repair is used exactly twice; no quest makes use of Lockpick, so the only doors you can unlock lead nowhere and contain nothing; First Aid heals about a third of what a Stimpak does, and you'll never have a shortage of Stimpaks, because there's only like four merchants in the game, each of whom have about 1,000 caps, and every gun you find is worth like four times that; and the game has no exploration outside of finding Mariposa, since NPCs tell you where the settlements are, and there's no reason to go to any square that doesn't have a green circle around it.

Adios user

I have about 1000+ hours in Fallout 4, that game is alot of fun, and brought me back to when games used to make me forget about the world, becoming fully immersed, forgetting about time.

Your fault for not playing it the correct way.

Attached: 7bf.jpg (1000x800, 80K)

Nigger, you're retarded. The game is shit because they dropped the RPG elements, added a bad settlement building system, and added a voiced protagonist. None of this is because of women, because women don't actually contribute to game companies. Bethesda went full normie appeal and nailed Fallout's coffin with Fallout 76. It doesn't matter because we're going to get Skyrim 2, and Space Skyrim which will all still be on Gamebryo.

>add several gigabytes of weapon mods
>proceed to mod it to be a shitty STALKER clone
>ignore Preston and the main story
Congrats now it's 7-8/10

>I have about 1000+ hours
oh god this better be bait
Your fault for not playing it the correct way.
ok good

HAHAHA GO HYPE FOR THE OUTER WORLDS LEAVE FALLOUT TO TODD. FALLOUT 1 AND 2 ARE NOT HERE ANYMORE

Fallout 4 is excellent, just install realistic mods (better locational damage), turn it into a great shooter where mutants die from 1 headshot with 50 cal sniper, and player die from 3-5 bullet hits.

Need to scavage for drinks, food, supplies, and must find bed to save game. Have you ever travelled for 2 hours, survived many things, notice enemy up ahead, and decided it was not worth fighting them, if you die, you lose all loot and restart back at base?

Been looting a hospital, on your way home, walk into fight, get shot only have 10hp and have to run away with bullets flying above you, risking losing alot of progress? No, because you are a savescummer who plays on casual mode.

Fallout 4 is the most fun and intense game in modern time if you play it correctly. I have done 40 infinite quest for paladins, go to location to extract beacon, its tons of fun. So fuck you loser who dont understand anything. Subhuman retard.

>no third person
Bruh

fallout 4 just threw the niche fanbase out of the window in favor of normies. It lost virtually all e-defenders that normally come with bethesda games, just in time for FO76 to crush bethesda under a mountain of well deserved criticism.

IF beth are still around after the trainwrecks of space skyrim and skyrim 2, that are destined to fail, then they'll crap out another fallout for sure. I'm betting on elder scrolls 6 to be the nail in the coffin though, i think beth will cease to exist as we know it. todd and friends will get the boot and zenimax will either shelve bgs or sell off the ips and make them a mobile developer.

>that are destined to fail
But that’s where you are wrong

off yourself

most mainstream success came from skyrim, so it was natural that bethesda would hit a home run with their next big ""rpg.""

while it was a massive commercial success, it was not a critical success. it was panned all over the place as mediocre and a disappointment. unfortunately the consumers of fo4 were largely unfamiliar with beth's earlier works so the criticism from gamers was unusually muted. they liked it for what it was because it appealed to them in the two ways they cared about, graphics and pewpew.

>S-stop having fun with games I don’t like

Attached: ECA2C712-0852-4DAB-95DD-9CE57A887D3B.jpg (522x413, 142K)

the disappointment from skyrim to skyrim 2 will crush todd and bethesda. that's just what happens with bethesda games, they just get worse. now they have nowhere to run. the normies are going to jump on the hate wagon and torch the fuck out of it when they see how jank and uninspired space skyrim is. then zenimax will give beth one last chance at redemption with skyrim 2, which they'll blow because they suck at making games. then its mobile development for them at best.

Absolutely seething

>graphics and pewpew.
The forced story and dialogue is bad, but it's a beautiful game, scavaging is fun, building your own camps is comfy as fuck, and with realistic mods it kinda becomes like Arma or similiar but in wasteland setting. I dont see what problem people have with this game? Fallout 1 or 2 just have meme references and wacky humor, Hubtology, Tom cruise, very gay

wow it's like i could just play stalker instead

Not what I was thinking of but you aren't wrong.

>I dont see what problem people have with this game?
really? did you miss the 30+ settlements in the place of all the interesting places/people/side quests? 1 and 2 are simply different games, If i'm juxtaposing beth fallouts, it's FO86, FO4 and FO3.

all have their flaws, but in terms of content, it was fucking lazy. unforgivably lazy and one hundred+ other negative adjectives I could find to describe the overall lackluster nature of FO4. Sure there are somethings that are good about it. IMO it doesn't cover for all the things that are really bad, unlike in FO3, which did tip the balance favorably IMO.

Bethesda is lukewarm and refusing to experiment in significant way, I agree. I know discord 3d modellers who can make better looking, better optimized models than billion dollar company bethesda can. It's strange how money doesnt correlate with quality.

Still a very fun game however, just get 2-3 realistic mods and enjoy the hardcore nature of it. Never played a shooting game with more adrenaline and intensity than Fallout 4, except maybe Tarkov but thats multiplayer

“Your fault for not being brainless enough to be entertained by explore->loot-> shoot the game, featuring sarcastic dad and my son Shaun.

Yeah, no, even as a looter shooter fallout 4 fucking sucks.

>The only non-combat skill actually worth putting points into is Speech, and the game only has like three speech checks. Sneaking, Science, Stealing, Outdoorsman, Gambling, and Barter are completely useless

You don't even understand what roleplaying is. You're stuck in the powergaming mentality of finding the best, most efficient set of skills and equipment instead of actually putting yourself in the shoes of your character. Those skills are for when you've beaten the game once or twice and choose to create a whacky gimped out character for added challenge and give him a backstory for immersion. Also all those skills have their uses, you just don't know how to use them because it sounds like you've barely played the game, though admittedly some have more uses than others. Of course specific skills aren't going to be vital to complete the game, why would they gimp the game and force you to have them so you can beat it?

>you'll never have a shortage of Stimpaks, because there's only like four merchants in the game, each of whom have about 1,000 caps, and every gun you find is worth like four times that

Again, depends on your playstyle. Some playthroughs you won't be able to get as much loot because you'll be avoiding combat, and barter makes a pretty big difference when it comes to prices. High charisma + high barter can cut prices by at least 50%. You'll definitely be in a position without stimpaks at least early game.

>and the game has no exploration outside of finding Mariposa, since NPCs tell you where the settlements are, and there's no reason to go to any square that doesn't have a green circle around it.

Fallout 2 does more to scratch your exploration, there was a lot they couldn't implement in 1. Either way, there's plenty of exploration and things to discover within sites themselves, which is what really matters.

why the fuck would i play an inferior version of stalker when i can just play stalker

Fallout 4 is a shit Fallout game but is actually pretty fun

Okay, so I don't think Fallout 4 is the worst Fallout either (that would be 3), but I do think you miss the mark on what actually makes a Fallout game good, and that's good writing, and C&C, something that Fallout 1 has in spades.

Pretty fun to uninstall

Damn I really want to play Fallout 4 sometimes, but I feel it might be a barren game. I still got Fallout 3 to get through along with NV.

In what world is Fallout 4 better than 3? The writing was just as terrible, but at least in 3 you had skills, builds, and actual choice. Not to mention a silent protag

Only because it sold on hype and really good marketing. It was all but forgotten by everyone except Bethesda drones shortly after release.

Command & Conquer 4

*if your iq is sub 100

>You're stuck in the powergaming mentality of finding the best, most efficient set of skills and equipment instead of actually putting yourself in the shoes of your character.
Which Fallout 1 doesn't let you do unless those shoes are "combat focused." There are no "different playthroughs" because there's absolutely no reason to invest points in any of the skills I mentioned. It's not like Deus Ex, where you can sink your points into lockpicking and hacking, and end up either with decent gear, or ways to avoid combat. If you invest points into lockpicking and science in Fallout 1, all you're doing is wasting points, since not a single computer in Fallout 1 can be hacked, and the only locked doors you'll come across lead to empty rooms, like in Gizmo's casino.

Well, 3 was less fun. I found 3's writing even more insulting than 4's (partially because I wasn't even trying to RP in 4), and 3 doesn't even have combat mechanics to lean upon like 4. Sure, it's more RPG based, but it feels way more clunky and glitchy than it should. Even something as basic as movement feels bad in 3. Don't get me wrong, Fallout 4 is a terrible Fallout game, but 3 is the only one that I could never bring myself to play through. And voiced protag is really a minor quibble for me compared to the other flaws.

Attached: cd9.jpg (600x480, 25K)

All of your complaints can be blamed on the age of the game. Of course a 2008 title won’t feel as fluid as a 2015 title.

You may as well be criticizing the graphics

New Vegas had the same engine as 3 and turned out to be a far better game than 4

Not the other guy, but fallout 1 is far superior than 4 by virtue of the game not having shit writing and having actual choice and consequence.

>fallout 4 is bad
No. Stop trying to fit in.

No, Fallout 3 doesn't get a pass because it's old. Games that were much older than FO3 felt much better to play. Even other shooty RPGs had better game feel.

>Which Fallout 1 doesn't let you do unless those shoes are "combat focused." There are no "different playthroughs" because there's absolutely no reason to invest points in any of the skills I mentioned.

Making a high intelligence and high charisma character gives you more than enough skill points to be able to avoid combat. That's where those "useless" skills such as sneaking and steal come in. You can sneak past the mutants in the watershed for example, or plant bombs in their pockets to kill them without actually fighting them. Having a high gambling skill can make you tons of money, and high outdoorsman gives you a better chance for special random encounters which can give you unique and powerful loot.

>It's not like Deus Ex, where you can sink your points into lockpicking and hacking, and end up either with decent gear, or ways to avoid combat.

See above.

>If you invest points into lockpicking and science in Fallout 1, all you're doing is wasting points, since not a single computer in Fallout 1 can be hacked, and the only locked doors you'll come across lead to empty rooms, like in Gizmo's casino.

You can hack computers at the glow, los angeles, and mariposa. You can also disable forcefields in mariposa using science. And there's tons of locked containers than have loot in them. Again, sounds like you've only done one playthrough of the game.

I honestly liked 3 Dog.
I think Mr New Vegas is cool but I really liked Three Dog pirate radio style, the world of FO3 was barren so his in-game podcast was fun to listen to. It is surprising how much it added to the game.

That said, yeah the writing is terrible, and the game amounts to a bunch of sci-fi references. I still liked it better than FO4.

>arguing that fallout 4 is good just to be a mega contrarian and stand out

What’s next, disagree with gravity?

Prove me wrong.

Attached: 654872956473289.jpg (640x783, 210K)

it's one of the few times Yea Forums is actually right

>New Vegas had the same engine as 3 and turned out to be a far better game than 4

FO4 not only removed any of the gameplay ideas that New Vegas had improved and implemented upon the series, it actually has less gameplay mechanics than FO3.

Rockstar will make another one when GTA Online stops printing money
But yeah, it sucked, probably the worst game in the series

>remove the ridiculous HP buffs you and your enemies get as you/they level up
>combat immediately becomes better

Why does Bethesda think sponges are good design?

(you)

oh, it's another "Yea Forums doesn't like something popular" episode...

Oh no, everyone actually does think you’re a retard

That's not 76 though. 4 awakened alot of normies to how shitty and lazy Bethesda was, but there was still hope for the future. 76 snuffed out those flames of hope.

You posted the wrong one

Attached: 6b5685a0e5ff23b73b05ae218c254cc1b6e13e33.jpg (616x353, 35K)

So according to this logic, fortnite is the best game on the planet. Gotcha.

>Why does Bethesda think sponges are good design?
because they target a normie audience that probably never play a single videogame except skyrim, fifa and gta, so they're free to design bullet sponges and say "it's how you do it in rpg, you're stronger but the ennemies too duh" and it works

>but yeah it sucked, it's probably the worst one in the series

That's not IV though.

>It was all but forgotten by everyone
> shows current number of players
>fortnite is the best game on the planet.
Nice try changing the subject.

You don't even really need health. Equipment is OP as fuck and good armor will draw out any fight. If they're concerned with people looting OP gear (like there aren't a dozen other ways to cheese the game), then they could make equipment recovery tied to skills/perks. Yeah, you killed Boss Deathraider, but you broke his OP gear to do so, and you're going to need the right skills and ingredients to repair and use it. They already kinda limit power armor already via power cores.

Damn right it's not IV because it was a great game

Fallout 76 sold a quarter of what Fallout 4 sold, and that's with a discount price.
Now tell me Fallout 5, if there's ever gonna be one, will sell as much as F4 after all the worldwide negativity F4 & 76 got, ilI think not.
Besides, now that Bethesda is having a boner in getting everything monetized, the mods aspect is dead in the water, and that was a big incentive to buy their games

Not the first guy. Just saying that the game’s popularity isn’t indicative of quality.

you overestimate the normie's mental abilities
everyone know they'll forget, they already forgot, look how everyone is waiting tes6
they just need a new coat of paint and some smooth talking, and since todd had the devil's charisma, they'll pull it off nice and easy

How? 2 was essentially a level pack on an updated engine and was really fun as a result as they could up the complexity.
