You are right in the sense that there are really low effort/barely working trash games, but for me ranking titles in a top worst of all time, its more about a misguided design philosophy or vision kind of thing. Making more of a list of what I consider anti-games.

Try to articulate you you like them more than average anime/mainline SMT.

Because I like it, I enjoy the characters in each game, the music and overall feel of them.
I haven't played SMT besides the first dungeon of nocturne and DDS, I'll return to them eventually but I fell out of the habit of playing both since I had to focus on other things so I don't know if I do like them more than mainline SMT.

not often, I've only watched the ones I see a bunch of people talk about how great it is like Gurren Lagann, and Death Note, last one I watched was dragon ball super I think and that was because I watched dragon ball as a kid.

The persona series was my first and only time i've played them besides DDS and Noc so far, I liked how Q and Q2 played so I was thinking of checking Etrian Odyssey out after probably returning to play DDS since I do want to play that one still.
