From what we know, if Dijkstra were to win, the entire Southern area's of the North have been utterly fucked by war (You can thank Nilfgaard for that)
However, technological wise, the North is on par with Nilfgaard, infact because of Oxfurt being in Redania, perhaps the North is superior to Nilfgaard when it comes to universities. That, and Novrograd is the biggest city in the Witcher World, and that is in the North as well.

Nilfgaard's advantage is that they have divided and conquered most of the known continent, espically the North, before the games took place.

But in time, and because of the destabilisation within Nilfgaard. The Emerging Northern Empire will be on par with Nilfgaard in the North.
Considering how Nilfgaard could NOT beat the North, even after destabilizing the countries economically, funding and supporting the Scoi'tael (they only operate in the North, because Emhyr made promises to them, JUST as he made promises to Roche), and even after killing half of the Monarch's in the North, his armies will still LOSE if Geralt does not interfere. Even Dijkstra has a better mind for military strategy than Emyhr.

Emyhr has spent years and countless money and time trying to break the North, the war in the 3rd game is the 3rd Northern War. Ergo, he lost the first two. (somewhat).

Ergo, The Northern Empire will easily rival Nilfgaard (in the North), but it is not objectively superior, however conquering the North will now be nigh impossible. and possible the Northern Empire may liberate Cintra, the country where Ciri was born from, before it too was conquered by Nilgaard.

No not exactly. Witcher 1 takes place right after the 2nd Northern War, which most of it took place in Temeria. So the countryside is still reeling from the aftermath of the war. (Which entails pillaging, rape, conscription, ruining of crops, destruction of villages if they provide resistance etc. Typical Nilfgaard and human behaviour in medieval wars.)

In Witcher 2 we don't see much, and in Witcher 3 the only places we see have been directly caught and been fucked up by the war. the meaning behind this short story is essentially that love is a gift that you have to repay. istredd loved yennefer and had proposed to her, he also offered to help her in her quest to cure her infertility and become a mother. he was clearly the more rational choice but yennefer couldnt repay his love because she loved geralt. geralt on the other has several unresolved complexes and refused to truly love yennefer back and routinely cucked her with other women. they eventually solve these issues and become faithful later in the book series after adopting 8 year old ciri.

theres tons of payoff for people who are familiar with the franchise but the last third act of the main story is rushed and its pretty apparent. there are some out of character decisions, like djikstra (a very intelligent and sneaky character) attempting a violent coup, and the final boss was never fleshed out as they had to cut a quest where you infiltrate his troopa. as it is, he only has like 5 generic lines and never mentions the relevant backstory from the books which acts as his motivation. the rest of the writing is great, almost every side quest is interesting and the dlc, hearts of stone, is genuinely my favorite videogame storyline. theres a lot of great moral dilemmas and the far reaching consequences are generally surprising but reasonable and logical.
