He's not an anthro animal that desperately tries to capitalize on what's cool at the time, every sonic character dates poorly, and is laughed at, Sonic and Shadow are the biggest cases of this, Sonic appealed to children in the 90's but not looks like Yo Yogi to modern people, Shadow the Hedgehog was appealing to autistic children in the 2000s, who got a tragic back story and ripped off vegeta.
Eggman, was never that, he's the only humble designed character in the Sonic Franchise, he's just a cartoony, evil, scumbag. He's extremely versatile too, sometimes he can be a standard mad scientist who must be stopped, sometimes he can be a goof ball who's kind of a moron, sometimes he can be serious, and intelligent, actually outsmarting his foes and it not be cringy, he can also be somewhat redeemable despite being a villain.

Uh, no. Sonic is not a good character. Sonic WAS a good character. He was a badass who didn't give a shit about anything back in the genesis games, he let his actions speak for themselves, destroying robots and saving animals, and being smug about it.
Then he started talking, instantly ruined him. Every single thing he says fails to be cool to a non autistic adult. Sonic is not cool anymore, he a joke.
