Is this game actually bad or is it a meme to hate it?

I hated this game, Rhiona was such a whiny spoiled brat. What squall saw in her is beyond me, didn't but that love story along with that cheesy ass love song.

In the end, thought Squall only got Seifer sloppy seconds.

It's a weird game with a weird story. Play it instead of asking, but chances are you will either love it or hate it. I've never seen someone being neutral to VIII.

I only hope Square does not waste and resources remaking that piece of shit.

It's easily one of the top 3 FF games. The music is by far the best in the entire series, the world is awesome and comfy AF, the main character is an incredible depiction of an introverted leader and a young adult male with abandonment issuses, there's no grinding/farming/tedious shit of any kind (you can play the whole game with random encounters off), there's time travel, sorcery, sci-fi, everything, the systems are fun/easy to control and break or to create challenge runs, Triple Triad is one of the best and most inspirational minigames in videogame history, and the story and twists are way better than people give them credit for. The GF memory loss is heavily foreshadowed, and a bunch of 4 year olds not remembering each other is realistic even without it. (The story's real problem, if any, is that there's too much exposition throughout. Not that twist.)

The only people who hate it are low-iq FF7fags that expected a sequel. They likely spammed gfs all game, tried to over-level, couldn't into junctioning, got stuck, didn't even finish the game, watched some mentally unstable e-celeb tell them what to think, and convinced themselves it was shit. Game is good and people who hate it are actually stupid.

Story is shit. Battle systen can be abused. World is kind of meh. Music is really good. Characters are more miss than hit. Graphics are nice for a PSO game and minigames/sidequest are fun.

It has the misfortune of being stuck between VII(the most famous) and IX(the best), VIII is very good though.

Ultimecia is the antagonist the entire time, user. Edea even explains her possession and it plays out with every sorceress. Her will to live is a simple motive and you live in a world that condemns her kind. Her face is the only thing you don't see until much later.

Disc 1 is the best Final Fantasy game. The story stops making sense pretty quickly after that and the game stops being fun by disc 3. Soundtrack is great.

Look play it for yourself, but its a bad game Triple Triad was fun till the rule changes just started fucking things up.

Only an absolute mongoloid would think 9 is better than anything. Very forgettable story and characters too. Also, the final boss just sort of appears out of no where.

The world is one of my favourites in FF. The story starts out very interesting but goes full retard disc 2 onward. Tears point and Lunatic Pandora are interesting on paper but utilised in a bad way. Characters are so so. Junction/Draw system is a nice idea but horribly executed. Seifer could be a great secondary villain but he ends up as the laughing stock. Triple Triad is good. Music is top tier.
It has flaws but its still a good game.

Then I played Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross and was like, what if in Final Fantasy 8 the reason the game gets so weird and all over the place after Disc 1 is that the time is getting stretched and dilated, so events become weirder and weirder?
