The first console I laid eyes on was my mom playing on the NES, that was back when I was wearing babby shoes. The first console I recall physically attempting to play was Sonic 1 on the Genesis; I couldn't get past the start screen.
This was back in the mid-late 90s, the PS1 was already out at the time of both events (esp. the Genesis bit).

My first console was a Super Nintendo that came with Super Mario All-Stars and Batman Returns. Game Genie was a thing and there was a quirk if you used the invincibility code for Super Empire Strikes Back: It made Darth Vader invincible as well so you couldn't go further than him if you used it.
