What fighting games do you play daily?

Between DBFZ and UMVC3, which one would you recommend to a brainlet who wants to get into fightans but has never played a traditional one?

It's true. There aren't many unique characters.
Of course, most characters have the magic series combo. L>M>H>LAUNCHER>L>M>H>SMASH>SUPER
Also, auto combos but truly, I wish characters had unique combos.

Last I played, superrush was OP as fuck unless fullscreen then you could punish. I quit playing around the time that DFBZ was feared to not be in anymore tournaments. With this sale I might go back and get the s2 pass but at $25, im not so sure.

Seriously. They are animeish fighters, but they play differently. UMVC3 is still my favorite fighting game. Do discord player matches and you wont have issues finding matches. Also, if you dont want to do that, put yourself in training mode with network on to find player matches (ranked is dead) and you'll be able to practice while looking for player matches.

This, if you play on pc, do yourself a favor and get the frank west sound fix. Consoles don't have this luxury

SFV and Tekken 7

They have basic combo structures for many characters (saiyans mostly). They do have plenty of different neutral tools though. It's fun, was my first serious attempt at fightan and got me into mk and Tekken. Still play it regularly and enjoy it.

It's the most fun fighting game at the learning stage I've played. Yea Forums likes to have a seizure and bitch about "EVERYONE IS DA SAME REEEEEE". They're twats. It's a fun game at all levels of play and I can't think of a better recent intro to the genre than this.

I actually like hearing zombie noises from the bat motions, lmao.

I'm trying to get back into playing SFV every day but even with casualized links I get rusty super fast and it takes me forever to get combos down.

None, because there are none with noteworthy singleplayer content, because I have no friends who play them, and because I don't like playing against randos online.
So there's literally no point for me, even though I enjoy the gameplay.

Also, what kind of singleplayer content would you be looking for exactly? Guilty Gear and Blazblue both offer some pretty good singleplayer modes.

Not yet, no. To be fair though, GT Goku's neutral game is fucking strong if that's your sort of thing. Videl and Jiren really aren't worth it, I'd wait and see how Janemba and Broly/Gogeta play before buying.

Plus nobody is forcing you to play 3 Goku's and 3 Vegetas, they each have different movesets and play differently (if you're not brain dead and don't spam BnB's).

In every single fighting game, all the stuff that you can unlock, and all the actual sense of progression comes from playing online multiplayer, if you play singleplayer you literally have no reason to come back after you finished your session, since there's nothing you can achieve or work towards.

The only negative effect is that since you're not playing human opponents, your ability to get better will hit a wall against computer opponents.

What kinda single player stuff do you want exactly? Because boths those modes I mentioned have lots of variety to building your characters in said modes (GG's mode even lets you mix and match special moves IIRC).

What are the ideal singleplayer modes for you?

I'd like a singleplayer mode that feels actually worthy of playing, and isn't just presented in textboxes, and regular batttles against some bots.
Nobody would enjoy playing Super Mario if the game consisted of dialogue boxes and boss rooms with bowsers.

I'm not a game designer, and it isn't my job to figure that out.
Just put a little more effort into it, give me a world map, maybe some sort of hub to walk around inbetween fights, a story, and stuff to do that keeps me coming back to the game and feels rewarding to do.

But I've been playing Street Fighter since I got 2 on the SNES, V Gief feels more like SFIV Hugo than other versions of Gief, but I like him a lot. I don't really enjoy going back to him in IV anymore even though he's got Green Hand, fast lariat, the suplex cartwheel and all of that other good stuff. I love his SPD oki pressure, having air SPD makes his neutral game way more fun, his combos are satisfying and short but do decent damage, and 5f SPD doesn't feel quite as cheap as the 2f SPD in IV

Blazblue is my main game, its dead.
Unist is pretty good but a little lacking in spice.
samsho is fun for now but is probably going to die.

dbfz is god awful at high level (came top 70 at evo for it)
