So I've just finished up Nier Automata, and I loved it. I don't want to return to the mediocre shit pile I'm always in, so I'd like to ask if you can recommend the best games in your opinion.
Good games
If you liked Hotline Miami you could give Katana Zero a go. It's only Act 1 of the full story, though, so it's pretty short.
The RE2 remake and Sekiro are worth checking out from this year.
When did it get good? I just finished route a and it was a slog.
I am considering dropping it now that the steam sales are going on.
Thanks for the reply, never tried hotline xD. So I'll give it a shot
Sadly you'll have to do it again through 9s perspective but it gets good after that.
What you are playing now can only be considered as the prelog to the main story
>play it twice it gets good i promise
lmao @ you fucking delusional weaboos
This. I am 12 hours in, finishing route A. To say the game is good when I am going to have to drop another 8 hrs into it to get to the good point is fuckin dumb.
Automata's especially good. It was my GOTY 2017, so assuming we have similar tastes, here's a few others from the last few years I really loved. Maybe some of them will be up your alley
>Hollow Knight
>Prey (2017)
>Titanfall 2
>Darkwood
>Undertale
>Transistor
Undertale's the closest to Automata in terms of what I loved about both games. I'd give that one a go if you were a fan of how Automata used musical motifs, multiple playthroughs, and "meta" mechanics.
It doesn't get "good" though, I don't see why people who didn't enjoy route A would like the rest, sure everything gets a bit more emotional and high-stakes but that's about it
Though the ending did make me choke up a bit, I wholeheartedly prefer the first NieR, it's a much more consistently great game, the only aspect that could be considered worse being the combat (in my opinion) and the graphics obviously
Route c, its worth it if you enjoyed the game upon completing route a, probably not if you didnt though
>everything gets a bit more emotional and high-stakes but that's about it
thats what I assume. The combat and world is bland and boring, but I don't hate them.
Whats killing it for me is the story and characters, everything is so generic and cookie cutter I have no attachment to anything going on.
Let's see, my favorite games of the last several years are, in no particular order:
>Bloodstained, my current obsession
>Devil May Cry 5
>Darksiders series
>Monster Hunter World
>Batman Arkham series (Knight is my personal favorite)
>Hollow Knight
>DOOM 2016
Some less recent games you may wanna consider:
>Sleeping Dogs, since it's currently $2
>REmake, Resident Evil 2 and 4
>DMC HD Collection
>Nioh
>Red Faction Guerrilla Remastered
>Whats killing it for me is the story and characters, everything is so generic and cookie cutter
That is precisely what changes in route C.
You don't even get the intro credits and title card until you've finished Route B. Everything until that point has been a very long introduction. Sorta like Twilight Town in Kingdom Hearts 2.
I suppose that is exactly the intention of the first route, now that I think about it
Guess they thought the platinum combat alone would carry the game for most people to where the plot actually picks up
I'd say go for it, especially now if you're in route B, just use a spear and spam the heavy attack, it works real well
My playthrough of all major endings took maybe 15-20 hours so unless you play at a snails pace like some anons it's not that much to get through
Though I would suggest playing the first NieR instead, it's a lot better
If you liked Automata, try E.Y.E
Game isnt for everyone. It is slower paced an a large part of it doing sidequests, chilling and exploring the crazy world you are in. Its a well realized world.
If you dont like doing that, you wont have fun
Its like asking "When does Cruzader Kings 2 get fun? Im bored by all this management"
I will be fair, if you dont like the characters at all by route A, i am not sure route C will change much. If shit like 2B going nuclear trying to save 9S or Eve's breakdown dont get to you, i dont think C will get to you either.
>its so bland and boring
holy fuck have you been playing Nier or are you sucking a jannies cock because it sounds like the latter
Gothic
Deus Ex
KOTOR
Stalker
That's about it.
>This
Personally I feel it's one of the best games I played, but if its mediocre to them what's good? Not sarcastic just interested
