Someone in another thread brought up that Aerith's design wasn't changed up that much which I'd say isn't completely true.

Aerith has a whole different style of dress in the remake. The original was a button-up dress that even opens out at the front, similar to a coat. The new one has a completely new ribbon belt while the buttons on her dress stop at the pelvis which lends to the appearance of a sun dress.

Arguably, you could say they actually made her dress less revealing in concept, since there's less room for her legs to show through and her dress is more closed up now, but Aerithfags weren't autistic enough to complain about it.
