Worse yet they didn't even really built the game around that idea since every char has a completely different playstyle switching is not really viable for a lot of people. Not to mention switches cost you your ultimate charge so they made game about switching champions that punishes you for switching.

Then they decided to permanently put the story on hold. Its been 3 years since release and outside of the number of faggot the story is basically the same as it was at launch. No progress, no development oh but soldier is now #gay.

Character design is important and definitely improves a game by several letter grades but good character design does not make a good game. If the characters were sexier or more interesting the gameplay would still not be as good as it could be

Having ultimate abilities but also having to switch to counter your opponent is contradictory design.
If you have to switch every time your opponent needs a hard counter you lose your ultimate which then gives the opponent an ulti advantage effectively discouraging switching in the first place.
