Alright, Yea Forums. Give me good reasons on why you think this game is overrated and not deserving of GOAT.
hard mode: No framerate/graphics bullshit

Too many people like it.
It feels like an ALTtP 3D port.
>no online
>no multiplayer
>no dlc
>and worst of all the grafix
playing it right now for the first time on my 3DS, I only beat beat Wind Waker and Twilight Princess before it.
I'm the forest temple and my only complaints are the overall clunkiness of the controls and mechanics like lock-on and the empty boring af hyrule field
Most of the later Zelda games improved upon it. It deserves recognition for being the first 3D Zelda, but it isn’t the best one.
most of the dungeons are lame and boring
Zoomers can’t comprehend how much of a game changer this game was in 94’, almost every modern ARPG takes from OoT
first of all idk what a goat has to do with it. second oot is definitely one of the most overrated games of all time. its a great game but alot of the world feels empty and not all of the plot elements make sense.
ill always be a bigger fan of majoras mask because there was so much symbolism and there were actual plot lines other than “hurr ganondrawf is bad”
That's a common complaint of the remake because it's a faithful one. Back in 1998 it was impressive but of course now it seems lacking in comparison.
In what way?
It was the first game ever to implement lock on mechanics so of course they’re rudimentary
Have you ever been to flied in real life? fuck you
No it doesn't. The amount of similarity any 2D entry has with LttP is far greater than any similarities between LttP and OoT. Combat system and pacing between the two games are very different.
development started in 1994 but the game came out in late 1998
it's good as a child's game but as an adult its too easy and mindless. theres just nothing of interest
*1994 I suck with dates
>In what way?
they are very linear and not very creative it's just find new tool -> use it everywhere in the dungeon
water temple is godlike tho
Epona is lame as fuck and is quietly blowing the franchise.
Could have been nice having the later zeldas without the idea of "we NEED a vehicle" poisoning every fucking game.
Imagine how much less padding every single 3D zelda would have.
no it isn't mega man legends had lockon before it
linear is not a very good argument, especially when it's simply not true.
OoT is the game you play to decide which Zelda you should play next. After you finish it you go "I liked OoT, but...
>...I wish it was harder" and play Master Quest
>...I wish the story was darker" and play Majora's Mask
>...I'm mentally retarded and need the game to hold my hand at all times" and play Skyward Sword
Et cetera.
ok
>Water temple
>Great subtext, but actual story was meh
>Most secrets were boring filler
>Bigger wallet comes later than it should
>Main hyrule area is empty and almost lifeless
>Time passing mechanics weren't done right
There's a lot of other niggles here and there. It holds up pretty well overall but it's not the greatest thing to grace the face of the earth.
I’ve never played a Zelda game before and feel like I really should play OoT, but every time I read into it or look up gamelay videos I get turned off. Nothing about the game interests me. Maybe it was great to play as a kid, but as an adult, I don’t see anything appealing. I was never interested in the art style, even as a kid, the gameplay looks simple and easy, from my understanding the story isn’t anything too special, and the world looks empty and uninteresting (although I understand it was revolutionary for its time).
The 2D Zelda’s do actually look fun, though.
The 3d zeldas are there for 2 types of people.
Ones that just want more zelda because the 2d games cant last forever and ones that are mentally ill and think the 3d games are actually better in any way shape or form other than presentation, one of the least important parts of a video game.
>Water Temple was actually great
>Not a good complaint
>?
>No it doesn't. Only if you suck at finding Skulltula's
>Name one game that did it better in 1994
>?
It's kinda boring after I've played it for the 3rd or 4th time. Only beaten it once because I got trapped in the water temple. Fuck that shit.
>because I got trapped in the water temple
Thats because the water temple is the only dungeon in the game thats on par with alttp dungeons.
You dont even need every key if you know the dungeon itself andh ow to avoid its red herring. its like all the rooms are one larger puzzle at that point.
The best example of that imo is the dark forest in alttp
That's not a bad thing.
it is a great game and i will always be a huge fan of it, but it can't be treated it as exceptional as it once was anymore. the same applies for many retro classics.
I felt that Majora's Mask uses the mechanics to a fuller potential. OOT feels a bit empty and easy, however it's still GOAT imo.
Give me a good reason why a game can't be both good and overrated as fuck at the same time. Protip: You can't and FFVII, MGS and OoT all are great and overrated as fuck at the same time.
Only in a story format sense...
>thinks it's not overrated
>defends it as the greatest of all time
that's literally what overrating something is
next thread please
It's easy, formulaic and hand-holding.
Nah, it is one of the games rated juuust right.
You need to be a literal contrarian to claim otherwise.
again, t. arin hanson
majora's mask, twilight princess, and breath of the wild all did the same things OOT did, and are straight upgrades to it.
